@Mr Trick Of course he has talent. But he also tends to write like shit more often than not. But George Lucas is the same way. I just call a spade a spade, maybe you should take off your rose-colored glasses and look at facts.

Let's not get into a thing over Joss. He had written some great stuff. But then every now and then he's puts out some bad stuff. Didn't he write that terrible line in x men that storm said "you know what happens to a toad that gets hit by lightning, the same thing that happens to everything else" that's bad. Plus he did the Cordy thing in Angel season 4. He was young when he wrote the movie so I can see that it might not be his best work even though it's called Buffy.

I actually think there are parts about the screenplay that are better than the finished product, a lot better, and that they shouldn't have cut out... but as I recall the worst part about the movie (the vampires-are-near-cramps) I believe were still in the original screenplay, so that's all on Joss :p

I hope I'm remembering these correctly now but - Buffy being obviously sexual active (her boyfriend staying the night and being there when she has nightmares), Buffy burying Merrick on her own, in general Merrick's death scene was better than what's in the movie.

Merrick's death was better. I don't remember the Buffy- oh yeah! kinda, but it was just really short. I just thought alot of what was cut, the ending for instance, seemed really cliche. And then there was the burning skull face and floating vampires.

Well it won't kill you to try it. I think you'll struggle to enjoy it after seeing the TV series first. The general trend I've noticed on here is that those who saw the movie first have a lot more affection for it than those who caught it during or after the series. Case in point I watched it after I'd already started the show and I think the film is pretty poor.

Thanks for the replies, is there anywhere you know to stream it in the UK, or do you have to buy it?

I've seen the movie a couple of times, but I don't like it very much tbh. I can totally understand why people love it but it's just not to my tastes. It does seem to be a movie that people have strong feelings for one way or the other. So give it a shot, it might be for you.
