I thought it might be handy to get a guide togther of what order to read the comics.
We'll go back and do the other series too. But for now, for Season 9 the reading order seems to be the order they're printed, would I have that correct?

Angel and Faith #2: "Live Through This, Part II"

Buffy season 9 #7: "On Your Own, Part II"

Looks right, though personally I'd read the issues in groups of five, like the trades are published. I think they're easier to follow that way, since you read one full storyline at a time, and not just one issue (comic issues are almost never complete stories, that's just kind of the way the industry works).

Following that, it'd be something like this:

    Buffy #1-5
    A&F #1-5
    Buffy #6-10
    A&F #6-10
    Buffy #11-15
    A&F #11-15
    Willow #1-5
    Buffy #16-20
    Spike #1-5
    A&F #16-20
    Buffy #21-25
    A&F #21-25

Willow and Spike's series would go approximately there -- the only really important thing is that Spike comes after Buffy #10 and before A&F #18, and that Willow comes after A&F #14 and before some Buffy issue that hasn't come out yet. You could switch them in the order I've written up, the only thing that "matters" is what I said before.

Don't forget the "In Space No One Can Hear You Slay" one-shot (from Free Comic Book Day last year), which fits in right after the "Freefall" arc.

Agreed. Except you're missing the shorts. Also, there's gonna be a 5-part Drusilla story after everything's gone!!

I always think of the Magical Mystery Tour thing as part of season 8. It happens during season 8, although it was included in the first season 9 trade paperback.

The Drusilla miniseries may or may not ever see the light of day. I think it's supposed to pick up right where her appearance in Angel & Faith leaves off. At least, that's when it was originally supposed to be published.

The Ferg: Well that's a little depressing...

I actually wasn't aware of those, so I didn't put them in.

Well, reading them in the order they were printed is correct -- I was just saying that I'd read them in a different order so I wouldn't be alternating between one series and the other constantly, especially since each issue isn't a self-contained storyline.

I also see it as occuring in S8, but only if I'm doing a complete Buffy run. If someone just wanted to read strictly S9, I think Magical Mystery Tour should fit there, and not in S8, seeing as it had the whole "S9 banner" thing.

Thanks for this information about where to read "In Space No One Can Hear You Slay" I got this at Free Comic Book Day and wasn't sure where to read. I'm only 6 single issues short of completing the set of Season 9 :) Look forward to reading in order!

@The Bronze no, I hadn't thought about that. I suppose I could. There doesn't look like there is much activity in the s8 section, but that could be fun. It would help me clarify some of my thoughts about it too. I'll try and do it then.

Most of the comic activity is on the season 10 board. I just think it would be good to hear your thoughts while their fresh in your mind. It's been quite a while since I read season 8 and it's probably the same for a lot of others as well.

Yeah, it would also help me organize all my thoughts about it. I have many positive and negative feelings for example on the experience of s8, but I haven't actually set them against each other and compared them and weighed them against each other. Until I do that, I can't say what exactly my final judgment on it is yet. And doing that would also surely bring other interesting things to think about to light for me as well. I'll do it, I just need a little time to devote to it.

I will say as of now I'm inclined to rate it rather lower compared to the other seasons...but that could change. My opinion of some of the other seasons of buffy and angel changed a lot after slow, deliberate, systematic reconsideration. Other BB perspectives also have altered how I judge other seasons too.

I think it would be an amazing achievement to get a comic season above one of the televised ones. I became fonder of Buffy season 4 after the first watch. Think it took a while to adapt to the change of scenery.
