I've been a Buffy fan for years and re-watch the series every year. This is the first time watching Angel and I just finished watching Season 1. I agree with some posters that season 1 was a"villain of the week" style but it finished strong. Here are some of my favorite things about season 1? Reply and tell me yours.

    Spike's monologue in episode 3
    Jeremy Renner, Angel's prodigy
    Angel's worry for Cordelia
The banter between Doyle and Cordelia (I was really hoping they would get together. RIP Doyle)
Angel pigging out in "I will remember you"
    Wesley's return in leather
Cordelia drinking blood and Angel's reaction
    Angel Dancing in "She"
    Wesley dancing in "She"
"I've got you under my skin"
    "The Ring"
    Charles Gunn
    Faith crossover
    Darla's return

Francis Doyle, Wesley Pryce and Nix like this.

Congratulations of finishing the first season. Those are all good points. The crossover episodes are great, I absolutely love seeing the Faith redemption arc here. I liked seeing a small return in Angelus in 'Eternity'.
I do love that he just wants to eat all things junk food. That was a good moment. Sex and ice cream, is the first thing he does as a human. lol.

Haha it has to be pointed out. The leather outfit was so funny because it's bumbling Wesley underneath. Even though it was sad Doyle left, Wesley was a good addition.

Only vergely remember Renner's involvement. Never been a big fan myself.

Fuffy Baith: It was interesting to explore Angel's past. I wished they kept Renner around to appear in later episodes somehow.

Ah season one of Angel was probably one of the best. I loved how small and balanced the whole cast was, there was a lot of time to invest in them, something I always say ;)

Season 1 will always have a special place in my heart. As much as I love the series as a whole, I really enjoy the small group dynamic of season one and the original AI office.
    Nostalgic. :)

Los Angeles is much more in the foreground in S1. We see the gang interact with different kinds of LA residents, go to parties, go on dates, see Hollywood celebs, basically be part of the LA night scene.

After S1 all of that tends to fade into the background as we focus on the demon underworld. The gang pretty much only hangs round Karitas or the hotel where they work, not much else.
    I kinda miss the former.

I dont know.. season 2 had some good episodes that werent attached to either places. Season 3 onward I agree, but season 2 was still similar to season 1.

Would say either 3 or 4 were the best seasons.

Am enjoying S1 more second time around but still not convinced that it is one of the best seasons.

Fuffy Baith: Stop disgreeing with me. S2 is THE best. lol

@Fuffy Baith Like I said things might change on my rewatch, but if it annoys you so much then yeah I would say S2 sucks!:D

Fuffy Baith: Lol. It doesn't annoy me. You're just wrong! Lol.

Season 1 had such a great noir atmosphere, and it kinda immediately set the tone for the rest of the show. I loved it - it felt like a dark stylised comic book. The main cast all being isolated by their past and coming together quickly establishing their characters and their relationships. I think it set up the show great, keeping it different from Buffy while still obviously being in the same universe. It's my season to go to when I want someone to see what the show is like - it's all there.

I've always liked Angel at the beginning.
It was a really great, close atmosphere. It felt like the 3 of them really bounded in that small office.

Think they lost much of that later when more people got involved and the offices got bigger.
It's a shame. I think season 1 was the best season much because of that.

I do like the Penn episode (Jeremy Renner). But I love Wesley - and his arc, and it all starts here.

I agree as Faith's watcher in Buffy we don't learn much about him, I love the episode Lineage.
