I absolutely despise how they waste the good themes in the MCU. They use them for the closing credits at best. The rest of the scores are completely bland and anonymous.
That weird Doctor Strange theme from the credits is very cool but they also completely wasted it by not incorporating in the actual score. The one memorable theme from the MCU is the Avengers theme by Alan Silvestri.
For the love of god, somebody please tell me why they - as far as I can tell - deliberately diminish the overall quality of their movies by using these generic scores. They hire some of the best film composers working today and basically let them copy the temp music. It's so frustrating. What the hell are they afraid of?
It's a good thing James Gunn found a creative way around that by using pop music.

    Rant over:rolleyes:

Yep. You're not alone. Musical scores, villains, and third acts - those are the things that the MCU almost consistently botches.

To be fair, there ARE a few more MCU film scores that I really like, in addition to the great Avengers theme:

(mostly the first minute and a half)

(it takes a while to get going)

But overall, yeah, it's quite a shame. It's just... If you're doing such a huge ambitious cinematic universe, then one of the best ways to capitalize on that is by giving each character its own theme, and having these themes inter-connect with each other in creative ways. Imagine how cool it'd be if Thor had a badass theme that would play when he joined the Avengers? They did TRY to do stuff like that sometimes - when Tony's Hulkbuster armor arrives in 'Age of Ultron', the Iron Man theme from 'Iron Man 3' plays... But that didn't have a very big impact, since that theme was not especially memorable, and was only used in ONE of the Iron Man films.
Man, if they were smarter, they could have done something like 'The Lord of the Rings', and their movies would have been all the better for it:
