I would halfway agree with @WillowFromBuffy in that there aren't really any bad episodes, but there are definitely episodes that suffer compared to others.

For me, personally, I despise S3's Amends. To me this is when Buffy stopped being a real TV show and turned into a goddamn soap opera (thankfully that ended in S5 and we got our beloved original show back). However, having said that, there are still enjoyable moments from Amends (if I remember correctly since I always skip it these days in re-watches :p)

So the question isn't really bad episodes, it's those that are somehow 'less' than others in each of our personal opinions.

Is there an episode that is widely regarded as most fans least favorite? (SR doesn't count, that's usually only the end of it that makes people point it out)

I ask this out of real curiosity, as my other fandom has 2 episodes that are both highly regarded by most of the fans as the absolute worst in the show. I wondered if it worked that way with Buffy/Angel (I don't think so, but who knows)?

Really? I am often the other way around. I love Amends, and not just because Willow wears a red dress. Sometimes I feel the vampire slaying steals too much time from the soapy character drama. A good example would be New Moon Rising. Why do they have to spend so much time on the abduction and the Ocean's 11 breakout? We have feelings to untangle, dammit!

Well, as I mentioned there were still good parts in it, really it's the Bangel parts that seem overly (melo)dramatic and kinda takes away from an otherwise enjoyable outing.

And, no, this is not based on me being a Spuffy, I would dislike Bangel even if I didn't ship anyone, lol.

I watched Amends with a friend this summer. He was all like, 'A spontaneous snow storm in California would cause thousands of people to freeze to death. All of the homeless people would die, including Xander. Why is Xander not at Joyce's party.'

I was wiping tears with my sleeves. I am sucker for melodrama. Amends is maybe a bit to silly, even for me, but then they turn that music on and Buffy is crying and I am already soft inside from watching Faith and Willow&Oz and it all comes tumbling out.

I'm not much of a sucker for melodrama, the tearjerker moments for me are the ones that feel realistic, not like a crossover between Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Days of Our Lives :D

I don't really hate any Buffy episode, at the end of the day I'd watch any of them because they all have something good about them.
However there are a few that I rarely pick out to watch e.g. When she was bad, Dead man's party. They have some unpleasant scenes in them :)

    We're an odd match ;)

Edit: @GwenRaiden We're an odd match, but we both appreciate a well shaped derrière.

I'll se your Ted and raise you Normal Again. Those would be the two worst.

But see, I love Ted, really love it (though I'm indifferent, mostly, about Normal Again) so again it's a matter of perspective. I guess I got my answer, though, no one single Buffysode is universally despised in the fandom :)

I was tempted to answer my least favorite but it's not exactly the same as worst... that would be Where the Wild Things Are.

This makes my heart sad. Really? Zeppo? Bad girls? Dopplegangeland? Enemies? Le sigh.

I love those episodes, but S3...I never understand why some fans prefer it over S2 because, for me, the Bangel gets...I can take Bangel in S1 and S2, I can even accept watching it in the crossovers in S4 and S5, but it just ruins S3 for me a bit. That said, I still enjoy S3, just not as much as if Buffy and Angel's relationship had been more realistically portrayed, imo.

S4 suffers from this, too, but this time it's not Bangel's fault, lol :D

The Ferg: I prefer S2 over S3 as well.

    I Robot, You Jane
    Some Assembly Required
    Bad Eggs
    Where the Wild Things Are

I don't think Whedon is capable of making a truly awful episode of television, but these are the only episodes that I really dread watching on my reruns.

It was just one episode. Is it really that surprising that there's at least one demon that came from space?

I separate the worst episodes into two catagories; episodes that are terrible and have no redeeming qualities and they are
    Beer Bad
    Teacher's Pet
    Inca Mummy Girl
    Superstar
    Bad Eggs

    And episodes that I can see are technically 'good' and are 'well written', but that I personally hate;
    Band Candy
    The Zeppo
I Only Have Eyes For You
These are the three that immediately come to mind, but given time I could thnk of a few more :D

The boards as a whole gave no votes at all to Gone or Get It Done in a recent poll to find the best - every other episode got at least 1 vote. Having watched them both, the are pretty dire. I used to really dislike Beer Bad, and then we watched it for the podcast and I actually really enjoyed its campy silliness. I also used to dislike The Zeppo, til we watched it for the podcast.

I basically question now what I like, because we watch it for the podcast and I usually like it. I really hope you don't make us watch Where The Wild Things Are. I don't think that episode could ever been redeemed.... :p
