Anyone else think this season has way too many flashbacks

I personally, feel that flashback episodes are generally the worst.. in both angel and buffy!

I usually love flashback episodes (as long as they are there in moderation, which I thought they were).

The Angel/fanged four flashbacks were always the best!

Yep I enjoyed them. I don't think it was too much backstory

Thought this was going to be a thread about Family Guy.

I always inwardly groan when I realise it's a flashback episode. But they weren't all bad.

I love the flashback episodes, although I like origins and flashbacks by their very nature tend to shed some light on characters origins/history

I absolutely loved the flashbacks! I know they didn't have the greatest budget to do it, but by their nature they were very revealing. I look it as it's done not just for the sake of it, but that the writers are specifically saying something about that characters, comparing the past and the present - particularly with Angel. Some of the best episodes are flashback episodes imo.

Overlooking Angel's terrible Irish accent, I love flashback episodes. My favorites are the combo of Fool For Love and Darla- how they use the same events looked back upon by different characters.

I think it must just be a small amount of people who dont like them.

I think the reason i cant watch all the episodes of angel are because i dont like them. I think it might be because I like Angel being funny Angel.. I dont like Angelus

I think the point was so that we would recognize holtz when he was brought back seeing as how he was never mentioned before plus who doesn't love angelus?

When we're dealing with characters whose lifespan is measured in centuries, rather than decades, some flashbacks are inevitable. As long as they contribute to the continuity of the story, yes, I think that they are quite useful. (one series that did this perfectly, I think, was "Highlander," where the flashbacks were quite plentiful and always helped to advance the story line)
