Over the summer @Athene and I decided to spend our time together writing a series of books for children. At the time I had just finished watching Buffy and when thinking of our characters name while sitting under an oak tree in a cricket club field we came up with Faith for our first book's main character, and in the same book the rest of the characters are called:
Anne
Aruni (Sri Lankan for Dawn)
Liam
James
Anya
Mrs Woods (Robin Wood)

They don't physically resemble the Buffy lot tho especially Mrs Woods.

Have you ever used Buffy names for inspiration for your stories?

Athene and you have that lucky kids. I have used names that appear in the series but not as related to the series. What I notice about your post is the old conundrum (if it means what that guy said) Does 'a' or 'an' come before a vowel?

"An" is used before a vowel or a vowel sound - no? So..."an" oak and also "an" hour.

Answering a persons post really quickly is good, but the post might be altered due to the edit feature being long enough. You can't change them comments though - fun times huh?
sorry about the double post but the reply needed to be after the comment.

@Mehansa and/or @Athene,
hmm, did you eat the butter fingers, as one might see in a horror story. With clever writing and marketing that could become an urban legend. OR did you spread the butter on your fingers as one might see in a child's story book.
IE
Little Jamie would spread the butter on his finger then wipe it on a slice of bread, the fun began when he spread the peanut butter on his finger, getting it to spread evenly over the butter. Now if he had merely dunked his finger in the peanut butter jar. Yep, with careful foresight he could have saved a slice of bread and saved getting yucky butter on his finger.

@TriBel,
if the word hour is pronounced effectively it does not start with a vowel sound. Unless you was making a funny, if so please ignore me.

I wasn't. In British English the "h" is silent...as it is in honour. So..an hour, an honour but a history, a house. It's actually a general rule rather than fixed rule...there are some words - universe, university - that start with a vowel but take "a". I presume because the "u" is long and not a vowel sound (as it is in umbrella).

I really love the name Faith and variations of the name and Buffy as a nickname for Elizabeth.

Anya is very cute and Aruni.

I always thought Buffy was a nickname of Beverly, as with folk singer Buffy Ste. Marie.
