I hate how some of the politicians are using this situation to further their own agendas, and are giving us money that we end having to pay back anyway.

Don't you love it Trump wants all at The White House to wear face masks, but not him. With a face like that you think he be glad to.
I don’t like Trump and I don’t find him attractive, but consider what you’re putting into the cultural climate when you say stuff things like this.

If you’re going to get upset about Trump being mean and rude calling women 2’s etc, then turn around and say something like this, consider that you’re being just as mean and rude.

”But I’m not the leader of the free world”, no, but we’re all autonomous individuals with a personal responsibility for the words and actions we out into the world.

Basically, if your moral outrage doesn’t include how you yourself treat or speak about people, especially those you don’t like, then you’re cutting yourself of at the feet when you try to argue against that kind of behavior.

It is easy you be kind to those you like, we could all do better learning to show a better character when it comes to those we don’t like. Something to think about.

I detest the man, but also detest how civility has gone away and how people on all sides use his exame ti lower the tone of discourse. Criticize when needed, but do not fall into the mud!

Two men were arrested for felony battery after starting a fight with employees at a Los Angeles Target store over wearing masks inside the store. One of the men that was told to wear a mask, broke the arm of the Target employee that told him to wear it.

Stay classy LA, stay classy.

Most schools will be reopening next week, but the train won't be back for another two weeks, this is pathetic...

On the other hand, three quarters of Coronavirus patients have recovered :)

I see Trump is still trying to find people to blame for his mistakes, he is still trying to blame China for making the virus even though it had a natural cause.

COVID-19 rates
Globally officially infected .. .. .. .. 4,599,738 and Deaths .. .. 310,000
America officially infected .. .. .. .. 1,493,961 and Deaths .. .. ..89,135
Papua New Guinea .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. 8 and Deaths .. .. .. .. .. .. 0

Now that America has allowed most of its states to go back to work who will Trump blame if/ or when the COVID-19 rates increase dramatically?

From what I've read the senate & Trump are opposed to this plan. Hopefully they'll work on the bill and find a compromise.
My guess would be thta the direct checks would be the first thing to go. However, with it being an election year, maybe they'll be extra motivated to pass something.

This about sums up my feelings on that;

"Still, even in a transformational moment such as this, some things never change. Up until the wee hours of this morning, Senator Lindsey Graham (net worth somewhere between $500,000 and $1,000,000) and a troika of Republican senators — which includes Rick Scott (net worth $500 million), who, as CEO of the Hospital Corporation of America, oversaw the largest Medicare fraud in American history yet somehow walked away scot-free with $300 million golden parachute; Ben Sasse (net worth $1.49 million) and Tim Scott (net worth $600,000) — obstructed passage of the COVID-19 stimulus package because, wait for it, it’s just too goddamn generous to the working poor. And, not making this up, it will incentivize laziness. (Hey, anybody else hear that dog whistle just now?)

Just to be clear, we are talking about four Senators who work less than half the days in any given year, but still pocket a combined $696,000 annually plus unlimited taxpayer-funded Cadillac health care and assorted goodies, holding up several hundred billion dollars earmarked for hospitals to buy desperately needed ventilators and life-saving PPE and to help working families stave off financial ruin, because some minimum-wage worker thrown out of a job by COVID-19 might get a few Benjamins more in unemployment benefits than they would when, like, there wasn’t a plague going on. Oh, and they didn’t bother to mention this, but that worker’s net worth is negative $38K.

There are no words."

Some people are just downright evil.

I must say, as much as I dislike my PM and our current government, I've been really impressed how our leaders have put partisan politics aside to help our country. I work in government and my team were tasked with processing as many claims for our JobSeeker scheme as possible. To help as many people as we can receive benefits through this horrific time, the governments relaxed a lot of the typical requires to make things easier for people and to get them on payments as quick as possible. It's just small things - like bending the rules so that they have 6 months to provide identification documents after having their claim approved - but done purely to benefit the citizen. It's been heartening to see and both the government and the opposition worked together to make this happen.

All I can say is that I hope this is an eye-opener to everyday conservatives when they see their party acting like this. I also hope it's more of an eye-opener in regards to their staunch opposition to free healthcare and their demonisation of socialism when they are gladly taking handouts from the government during Corona (as they should of course). I'm not holding my breath, but for their own sakes I hope it opens a few eyes.
