Cordelia is one of my favourite characters and I really missed her. I understand why the writers felt she had to go over to Angel, but it left a gaping hole in Sunnydale, which they tried to fill with Anya. I did come to like Anya, but to me she is just an attempt to copy Cordelia's defining characteristic; always speaking her mind.

It makes me sad that her move to Angel led to her eventual downfall as a character, which would never have happened if she's stayed on BtVS. The treatment of Cordelia is one of the reasons I don't watch Angel.
Probly would've happened sooner being that her downfall as a character was due to her falling out with joss and joss was more involved with buffy than angel untill season 3/4 when David greenwalt left I felt she should've at least got a goodbye scene though made a bigger deal she just dissapeared

I love Cordelia on Buffy but I loved Cordelia even more on Angel & just due to Season 4. Her character was not ruined. She didn't have a great season but that didn't cancel out all the great moments she delivered imo.
Cordelia evolved on Angel & got a lot more focus with the smaller cast. She grew so much& I'm so proud of her & I love/ship Cangel & that was really only possible on Angel.
You're Welcome is Cordy's best episode ever so overall
No I'm glad she moved on although I wish she did guest appearances on Buffy

There was no where left for Cordelia to go on Buffy. By the end of S3 she had split from the scoobie group, and it was clear she didn't want any part of them any longer. Her time with that group was finished. Prolonging everything beyond S3 would have been pointless and forced. Meanwhile, Angel was a perfect place for her to land, and a better group of people to grow with.

It depends, I would have to know what they would have done with Cordie after graduation if she was going to stay on Buffy. Obviously, she falls into Xander's boat, her best days were behind her, and switching her to a post High School Persona would have been difficult if she had gone to UC Sunnydale or took a part time job. I think sending her to LA was probably the best bet. Now, let's be clear about something. She should have come back for a day trip, or to visit her mother, or shown up in "Restless" or "The Body" Christmas Dinner or Joyce's Funeral in "Forever" or at least some contact with the Scoobies, but that could be said of both shows. I mean, now, we would probably have season long arcs where characters crossed over weekly, but then, cross-overs were seen as gimmicky.

While Cordelia got great development by being spun off to Angel, if she had remained on Buffy I wouldn't have minded. They had to bring in characters to fill her void so she was essentially important to the DNA of the series. She still could have grown and she probably would have gotten back with Xander. But I did find it to be BS that she never was able to reunite with the Sunnydale crew.

The crossover between her and Xander was one of the missed opportuties. Even if the relationship was to be no more it still made sense for them to at least keep in contact or to meet up once in awhile. Xander visiting her in L.A. or maybe more likely Cordy visiting Sunnydale would have added something.
I had always wished for a crossover similar to Triangle, but rather than Willow, it would have been Cordy. Even to see Xander on Angel would have been really different!

Whilst I appreciate much of Cordelia's development when she moved to LA and became a member of Angel Inc she did lose something when they tried to turn her into Angel's demon-y, champion-y love interest. S1 and 2 were good but 3 is where the writers lost her spark; she became a sainted do-gooder all of a sudden; wise and humble and...urgh. S4 turned her into a badguy to scupper the Angel romance, her arc was apparetly never gonna end well. 'You're Welcome was a nice sendoff for her I guess.

I have to say I loved @Spanky s Anya/Cordelia switcharoo idea; Cordy made to do community service in Sunnydale during S4 (she does crappy, humbling jobs whilst Xander joins the Initiative- no need for Riley the militay guy, maybe he's just a TA- and ends up rescuing a pathetic chipped Spike who offers the 'real' truth behind the goings on in the secret base)
Eventually Cordelia comes to work at the Magic Box 'with' Giles in order to make good money (now grateful for a decent, steady pay-check and no hideous uniforms) and Anya fleeing to LA, getting rescued by Angel and then becoming part of the team.

The reason I like it is because after BtVS lost both Cordelia and Oz they no longer had an emotionally grounded character who was a stabilizing part of the group; Anya might've had a similar purpose in regards to blunt humour but she was...well, wacky demon girl, decidedly not grounded or practical emotionally speaking. So Cordelia could've still added something unique to the group and her evolution wouldn't have been rushed as much. She could maybe stay friends with Xander, or they could re-visit their relationship when they'd both matured in S5, or Initiative-Xander can hook up with Spike or whatever. All sorts of ways to keep the group dynamic fresh.
Also maybe Cordelia was the Key all along!! Buffy and her ARE sisters with really different hair. Ha, okay maybe not.

As for Anya in LA; she's got Cordy's brutal honesty and financial practicality (demanding that Angel charge people for saving them and Doyle saying 'that's a good idea!") ...but she can be explored as a much darker, deeper character; atoning for her wrong-doings/world view of vengeance. She comes to see a different way of righting wrongs, a healthier way, and comes to admire Angel all the more for it.
She fits very well into Angel's bigger, darker cityscape. And her interactions with Doyle and/or Wesley would've been fun to see. Would anyone actually ship Anya/Angel? lol

I have been wanting to write an Anya x Angel (platonic) story for a while. Like some X factor reason for why all the Scoobies disappear and it's just Anya left & she goes down and tracks Angel for help and she just annoys the living sh*t out of him!

I don't enjoy the seasons of Buffy after she left enough anymore when I rewatch them to adequately state to what degree the show misses her presence. I'll leave that for people who truly in their heart still appreciate the later seasons.

What I can say is that Cordelia on Angel is a revelation. She truly blossoms in seasons 1 and 2 and provides a constant source of good energy, vibrancy and humour.

Whilst her character changes for the worse in seasons 3 and 4 of Angel, I do admit that I prefer the seasons 1 and 2 Cordelia on Angel to when she was on Buffy, though, she was still pretty great back then as a counterbalance to the Scoobies.

I didn't really like Cordelia's character that much, I liked her in seasons 1 and 2 but after that I think she got pretty dull. I think it was good for her to move on from the scoobies as I believe that her history with them prevented her from really becoming a better person.

I like this in an ideal world she'd have gone to Xander's wedding maybe she had a vision, maybe she rocks up with Gru. Gru would have added some much needed levity too. It would have been nice for her to interact with all of the Scoobies and her to have a moment with Xander not a shag but a moment. This can set the stage for a friendship between Cordy and Anya. After selfless Anya decides she needs a clean break from Sunnydale. Anya doesn't really do much except bitch apart from provide comic relief with Andrew after Never Leave Me.

I like the idea of giving the baby and doing Connor idea to Anya. Maybe Cordy doesn't ascend but is tricked into body swapping with Anya by Skip instead so Anya can atone and have a purpose without being destroyed by being human and she shags Connor possibly because the process makes her suspectable to Jasmine suggestion. Cordelia stays around to advise her but then as she becomes suspicious her memory is wiped. Then Jasmine takes over Anya in Cordy's body who is pregnant. When Jasmine's spell is broken 'Anya' realises who she really is and since the real Anya is now dead they destroy Anya's body to restore Cordy. This is worse than the original.

Yes. Her development would've been more believable that way, and less contrived. Angel and Cordelia hardly had much interaction in the Buffy series, so it's kind of hard for me to buy into their friendship in Angel. Cordelia needed to learn to be nicer to Buffy on Buffy's show. They should have NEVER broke Xander/Cordelia up.
