I just downloaded photoshop... and I really like it much better than gimp... but I have a question. I'm trying to figure out how to resize layers using pixel sizes rather than percentage sizes... how do you do that?

oh and I agree... that banner tutorial was fun!

If you want to input pixel sizes when you resize an image, you can do it up there under the menu bar where they have all those boxes with the proportions in it. If you go to Edit>Transform>Scale and then look up at the top, you should see something like this:

The X and Y boxes have the pixel sizes for width and height in there.

BUT, the easiest way to resize and image, and make sure it's not stretched, is to go to Edit>Transform>Scale and then hold the shift key as you drag the outer corner down to make the image smaller. Holding the shift key ensures that you're adjusting width and height at the same time, so you don't have to worry with making sure it's not stretched to the point where the image looks squished.

Jo Chen's art is some of my favorite. The colors are so beautiful and she is able to depict the actors better than anyone else.

I can't seem to get the text to show up. This is my very first time using photoshop. I did everything you said to do, but there is no text on the banner. The layer is there and it tells me what it says, but the text isn't visible at all. :(

First make sure the text layer is the top layer, then make sure that the little eye icon next to the layer is visible. :) Hope that helps!!

I followed your tutorial, but I changed something. I removed the frames and I used the blending. I do not use Photoshop, but Corel Paint Shop Pro and I had to adapt. The gradient is different in fact.

Very cool!! I love the variant of not using the frames! Your blending is great, and I love all the different gradients you applied! :)

Hey I have a question, I haven't used photoshop in months ugh I am so rusty. Haha I can't remember how to make my images look...smooth. I know that I use a gaussian blur but I can't remember the next step. What method do you use? I apologize in advance if I'm not being very clear.

It's a combination of using the Paint Daubs filter along with the Gaussian blur. I don't want to give away all my tricks though cause I don't want people copying my exact style. ;)

Understandable ;) and I think I figured it out last night but I'll definitely try the paint daubs, thanks!

Hey, mods! This thread should probably be deleted, 'cause these links don't work and all these tutorials have been taken down off my site.
