It just sucks that Amber Benson refused to return to play First/Tara. Seeing Tara being evil and messing with Willow's mind would have been delightful.

I don't know if I'd use the word "delightful" but it would have made CWDP even more interesting and creepy, and I have to say I'm pretty disappointed Amber said no also.
She could beat up Kennedy like that. Just hit her once in the mouth with that tongue ring and it's gotta hurt.

Tara: "I was floating towards a heavenly dimension when a woman with perfect feet appeared before me, told me it wasn't my time, babbled something about cheese, and I awoke in my body. It was like they were carved from marble."

So what does everyone think of this theory that was inspired by something @ChaseRules and I were chatting about?

Tara in Seeing Red does get shot but instead of being dead goes into a coma. Tara could be in a coma for the next 2 episodes only to wake up in Grave and instead of Xander giving Willow his speech, Tara gives the speech to Dark Willow.

In S7 Tara and Willow rebuild their relationship to what it was.
What do y'all think?
I had kind of a similar idea once. Just without the Kennedy part. Kennedy would've been just a regular potential. And in my imagination Willow and Tara get married at some point. *dreaming* ♥ 💖🏳️‍🌈💞I also wrote a little Fanfic about exactly that (I'm not good at writing though. It's just so important to me that I NEEDED a Fanfic) And for me it doesn't matter how just BRING TARA BACK!!!!

We get a Kennedy/Willow/Tara love triangle for Season 7 that could end in Chosen where Willow chooses Tara over Kennedy.

What do y'all think?
I like your version, but how would Tara know about the yellow crayon? season 7 no comment.

Rather than killing Tara off, they could've just had the bullet paralyse her. Willow would go on her revenge spree because of Tara being unable to walk again (though it wouldn't lead to trying to destroy the world, she'd just go after the trio), and it would be Tara who talks down Willow by saying that it's not up to Willow to decide consequences, Warren would get sent to jail and Tara basically deals with the shooting the proper way rather than Willow's vigilante way.

In Season 7, we'd see Tara using a wheelchair (so representation) and still being a useful member of the scooby gang. Kennedy would still attempt to pursue Willow, only Willow's not interested because of Tara,, which would lead to Kennedy trying to split Tillow apart by attempting to guilt trip Tara into thinking she's a burden on Willow. Since Kennedy is now presented as an outright antagonist in relation to Tillow, this means that she will be given a comeuppance for her behaviour which could either lead to her death or her actually redeeming herself.

"Okay, first day on the job. And I'm meeting with a fat girl? They kind of have a rule here about being pretty. You must be Tara. My boss wants me to do one good deed before my probation is up, so here's the deal. You can stay here, in the glory of the Summer lands or whatever you Charmed fan girls call it, or you can go back and hang out with Xander and his loser friends for a few more years. There's one catch. You have to take someone with you. More like a something."

Have an alternate ending to Seeing Red, so Tara wasn't the one who died, and it wasn't Willow who went dark as a result. Say it was Xander and it was Buffy who fell into the darkness instead...?

Except that I can't say that I see Buffy going dark over Xander's death. No matter how much he may mean to her.

The way I saw it, Buffy herself was in a dark space for most of Season 6. One, she was unceremoniously torn away from paradise and rest to the less than salubrious surroundings of Sunnydale. Two, her relationship with Riley had ended for good with the disclosure that he'd married Samantha and made a life and career with her, and then there were other things to consider- responsibility for Dawn, the need to get a job instead of continuing at Sunnydale University, dealing with Willow's turn toward dark magic, not having Giles around and then drifting into an inappropriate relationship with Spike. Now, suddenly, take Xander, her anchor and one of her brst friends and a source of stability in her life, away due to Warren's malignancy. Result- one darkened Slayer. It could have been either Buffy or Willow who went over the edge at the end of Season 6. If circumstances had been different, what if it had been Buffy instead?

I just don't see any way for Buffy to go dark over Xander's death. Maybe Dawn, but even that's a stretch. Yes, S6 was a dark time for her, but by the time of Tara's death, she was already starting to pull herself out of it, something that slowly began after she broke off the affair with Spike. For her to go dark...it would take a lot more than losing a friend. Would she possibly break her no-killing-humans rule to get vengeance on Warren? Sure, could be. But becoming some kind of rage monster who has to be talked off the ledge by, like, Dawn or Giles or something. I just don't see that as happening in any canon way.

If Xander died, then that would make Willow go dark as she has lost her lifelong best friend, only now there would be nobody to talk her down because they don't have the connection to Willow that Xander has. Even Tara would struggle.

They could have achieved the same result without killing Tara by making it look like Tara was going to die, eg have her flatline in the hospital, and Willow rushes out thinking Tara is dead just before the doctors manage to get Tara's heart beating again. Willow goes on her revenge trip thinking the worst and is talked down by Xander who reveals that Tara is alive. Tara would be paralysed from the waist down so Warren's actions have a lasting effect but it also prevents Killow from happening.

Think that would have been too out of left field. Willow's addiction storyline was building to her going dark. Making up with Tara was the motivation she needed to stay away from dark magic. Tara tragically dying was the spark which pushed her over the edge. It made perfect sense.

I wouldn't have minded seeing Benson back on the show again at least once. The Tara/First idea does intrigue me. I understand why she turned it down though.

Hmmm. Could it not be argued that Spike was an equally unsuitable addiction for Buffy, analogous to dark magick for Willow? Willow did indeed have process addiction, whereas could Spike not be seen as relationship or sex addiction?

That's a good point. I still don't think it would have worked as well if it was Buffy turning to the darkside. But I never thought of that.

Also I like that they planted the seeds of Willow getting sick of being Buffy's sidekick back in dopplegangland in S3.

Actually. I had Patches the zombie cat surviving the African mask story, making out with Kitty Fantastico, her getting pregnant and becoming the parents of a cute bundle of kittens. Vampire kittens. I call the concept "Kittyslash" after the feline in question. However, let's return to my idea about Xander dying instead. Would it set off Willow? He's her best friend, but he's also Buffy's best friend. And if Xander had taken both bullets meant for Buffy and Tara, Tara would be there to stabilise Willow and keep her from going dark. Buffy would have had a harder time of it, as Spike and she had broken up by that point. And then, Buffy, Willow and Tara track down the Trio- and discover Warren also ambushed and staked Spike outside Sunnydale city limits. Suddenly, Buffy's addiction has disappeared and she reacts badly to it. Result: Dark Buffy.
