What would have happened if Angel had stayed human? Would the world really have been worse off? Here's my idea of what could have happened.

If Buffy and Angel stays together and goes to Sunnydale, Doyle would likely have survived, either because Buffy and Angel relocate to Sunnydale before the Scourge arrives or because Buffy helps Angel and Doyle stop the Scourge before they manage to charge their weapon.

If Doyle doesn't die, Cordelia does not inherit his visions, foiling the first step in Jasmine's plan.

Faith goes to LA and is not contacted by Wolfram and Hart and continues down her destructive path until she dies, gets caught or reaches bottom some other way.

In the show-timeline, Angel fails to stop Wolfram and Hart from bringing back Darla, but if Angel is no longer the vampire with a soul, WRH might simply abort the plan.

Even if they do summon Darla, Darla will not be able to corrupt Angel while he's with Buffy.

If Angel is not a vampire, he cannot give birth to Connor (the child born from two vampires).

Jasmine now has no one to give birth or to father her Gina Torres vessel.

Sahjhan has no reason to fight Angel, and should therefore not set Holtz loose. Even if he did, things could not play at as they originally did, as there is no baby Connor for Holtz to kidnap. Buffy, Angel and the Scoobies would probably make short work of Holtz and his gang.

The only problem is the amulet Angel gets from Wolfram and Hart. If Angel is no longer the vampire with a soul, then Wolfram and Hart may not want to give Angel the amulet.

However, if the Oracles really wanted to help, they could have told Angel about the stupid amulet.

Considering all this, I am convinced that the Oracles (or TPTB themselves) orchestrated the whole Mohra-demon debacle to trick Angel into committing fully to their cause. Also, the Oracles either knew very little of what would happen to Angel or they chose not to tell him, because pretty much everything that happens to Team Angel could so easily have been avoided with a little preternatural foresight.

Interesting idea.

If it plays out this way and Buffy and angel are together throughout seasons 4-7 do you think spike would have?
A) hung around sunnydale for 4 more years
B) fallen in love with Buffy
C) gotten his soul back

Spikes path would probably have been very different but hopefully still help the scoobies sometimes. Would have been some great conversations between spike and human Angel!!! Who would be the vampire with a soul in the shansu?

Would Drusilla try and turn Angel into a vampire again? Could certainly have been a decent story arc.

Angel would have already fulfilled the shanshu by becoming human, and you could retrofit the rest of it to some of his earlier actions.

Hmm. I'm pretty sure Angel would have vetoed Spike having any association with the Scoobies. And it would be very hard for a chipped Spike to stalk Buffy with a human Angel on watch, seeing that Angel would be safe from harm from Spike.

Drusilla would definitely attempt to sire Angel, but seeing that Willow has the ready-made spell, it wouldn't really be a problem, unless Dru went for Willow first.

What would have happened if Angel had stayed human?
The Oracles told Angel that Buffy would die within a year, trying to protect him, if he remained human. Even assuming that they were lying, there was still the fact hat she actually did die protecting Dawn (and saving all of Creation in the process) How would Angel have reacted to that? Also, without Spike there, Glory would probably have seized Angel (being Buffy's new "Precious") which actually could have been how she was supposed to have died, trying, and most likely failing, to rescue him Plus, it'e doubtful that Angel, as human, would have been able to endure Glory's torture the way that Spike did, let alone escape.

Without Buffy to stop her, Glory would have almost certainly been successful in her plan to go home, thereby tearing down the dimensional walls between all realities, resulting in the end of this, and every, world. Given that scenario, any plans that Wolfram & Hart might have had, the existence of Connor or Jasmine, and pretty much everything after Season 5 of "Buffy" would never have happened, because the world would have ended by that time. That's assuming that they even lasted that long, because...

The year before, with Angel mortal and returned to Sunnydale, Buffy would have almost certainly had little or no interaction with Riley, Maggie Walsh, or the Initiative, allowing them to, unmolested, finish their plans to weaponize vampires and other demons, which would probably have resulted in Buffy and her friends not being able to shut down their program. The simple fact that there would then be an army of demons and vampires brings up the possibility that they could be somehow misused, resulting in probable world chaos if not outright Armageddon before Glory even had a chance to set up shop in Sunnydale.

Ultimately, Angel remaining human would have somehow resulted in what the Survivalist community would call a "S H T F Situation."

Well, a lot of people in BB think that Buffy should have ended in S5, there they have an scenario where Angel is with her right there "at the end." I personally love S6 and S7 and my Spuffy.

The Scourge succeeds and all demons or part demons die, leaving Angel to live happily with Buffy while she goes to school, until Maggie Walsh tries to figure out what happens to the demons and figures out Buffy is different, captures her to experiment with and tries to make super soldiers through her. Maggie becomes the big bad of season 4.

Willow still gets more witchy.

Cordelia struggles to adapt, to Doyle dying and Angel becoming human and ends up working for Wolfram and Hart.
