    Do you know that ?

Here the link if you want to see the site : Sunday

    What do you think ?

Personally, I think this a genius idea. Why are they gave up ? It would have been a very great storyline ! Imagine a vampire with the Slayer's powers !!

Or maybe Sunday had a background in martial arts or boxing before being turned, and Buffy just plain underestimated her the first time that they fought, like she did Spike in "School Hard." Buffy tends to be overconfident in her fighting skills, to the point that she sometimes gets sloppy, like the time that she got stabbed with her own stake.

That's a really interesting idea, but I honestly
Don't think Sunday was anything special. Sunday was able to best Buffy the first time cause Buffy was emotionally down and feeling overwhelmed by things. Her emotions have a lot to do with her skills, and once she got her confidence back she kicked Sunday's ass no problem. That was the point of the episode.

However, I always thought Sunday could have been around longer. I liked her as a villain and the whole slayer thing could have been freakin amazing.

I like the idea because there are many possibilities. It it is true that we could ask why a vampire never sired a Slayer. I'm wondering what the result would be. Does the Slayer would keep her powers ? And the Slaypire would have an advantage, he would know how a Slayer thinks.

There was a Slayer sired at the end of Season 9, I think, but beyond the mere fact that it happened, nothing else so far, unless I missed it entirely.

(Someone can correct me if I'm wrong)

Sunday won the first time because a) she was competent enough to lead a gang of vamps- which puts her above average but more importantly b) Buffy was feeling blue and unfocused, which tends to be a big issue when she fights; her skill/drive in a fight is linked to her emotional state. Always has been.

I saw no evidence in the episode that Buffy was overconfident, quite the opposite actually, she was on the back foot because of life issues (college, not fitting in, Giles in a robe, etc).

Still, Sunday as a former slayer (say from the 70's or 80's maybe) would've been cool, but the writers would've had to address it, and the episode is already pretty crowded with character stuff, not much plot.
Maybe if Sunday had survived her eventual ass-kicking and been captured by the Initiative at the end of the episode they could've explored her character further?

I think it would have been really cool to have a story revolving around a slayer turned into a vampire. I liked Sunday a lot so it would have been cool to have her around for some more episodes and explore her character more. I think that storyline would be more interesting than the Adam and the Initiative stuff for the most part. I'm very curious to what effects being a slayer has on them becoming a vampire.

I've a feeling they explored the idea of a powerful Vampire that turns out to have once been a Slayer in one of the Buffy novels........

Yeah, Queen of the Slayers I think it was. I've heard it wasn't the best exectution- to put it mildly.

But Sunday as a 'vampler' (slaypire?) with a chip in her head? I like that idea!

Sunday was underused. Whilst she wouldn't have been able to carry a whole season, if she had the slaypire background, she could've been a good half-season villain.

I definitely agree, it woulda made for a far more interesting season arc than the Initiative or, at the very least, ADAM.

Sunday had great potential, she should have been in the show longer. We did a podcast on it, fyi: Episode 5: Monster Sarcasm Rally if anyone's interested in hearing why I think Sunday was so brilliant. :)

Sunday as a slaypire? That's a pretty cool idea... ;)

A Vamped Slayer is worth an entire season arc in herself, not a throwaway villain for Season 4. IMHO, such a thing should be extremely rare, e.g. slayer blood is so rich, no Vampire would leave enough in a slayer for the turning to take, or some horrible legend about a turned slayer who murdered everyone. I mean, remember, combining two demonic spirits, probably not a simple process. If anything, it should be the work of a Necromancer, not a Master Vampire.

The Initiative/Adam arc was by the far the weakest of the series in my opinion despite season 4 having wonderful mini-arcs and one-offs. The idea of Sunday as a slaypire for a season long arc would have been fantastic and been able to provide depth to Buffy's story and what it means to be a slayer. Since season 5 has a large focus on Buffy attempting to discover what it means to be a slayer it would have logically made sense to have this as the lead in to this story arc.

Interestingly, in almost all of the seasons we have shadow selves of Buffy represented. In season 1 Cordelia represents what Buffy was before being called. In season 2 and 3 Kendra and Faith show what Buffy could have been. Dawn is quite literally a part of Buffy. It could also be argued that in season 6 Buffy is her own shadow self. Sunday would have worked well with this idea in mind.

Personally I would have written out Riley completely, and had Harmony following around Sunday creating a new form of 'Cordettes'.

I thought Dawn and Spike were both Buffy's shadow selves in S6 - Dawn the girl, who Buffy had once wanted to be, normal nand ordinary and Spike representing the darkness within the heart of every slayer.

Sunday is a good idea, but when the season began the production assumed Maggie Walsh would be around all season and become the big bad, which I personally would have preferred to Sunday or the initiative.

I agree. Walsh was building up to be a good character and I like the actress. Just a shame it had to be scrapped.

This idea is interesting even if I wasn't a fan of Sunday in The Freshman.
