This is a free verse thingy...

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
La Fausse
One day in spring came a maiden dressed in white.
She walked the streets so gracefully; so familiar yet so far.
She reminded us of our great martyr, but was only a reminder.
The girl told us she was Joan, having the same charms as she.
She was brimming with her speed and power, fooling many in the process.
Because of her actions, we were safe. There was no more worry.
And months passed, all being well.
When she walked the streets, she was only admired.
But, suddenly, the maiden spoke.
She revealed her true self, Jehanne de Sermaize, the Slayer.
There was great uproar, angering many.
Days passed, the news circulating amongst the townspeople,
Until her fate was finally decided.
Then, on the cruelly hot summer day, she was brought up in front of the whole town;
And tied up with the flames.
She was burnt to pieces, every memory of Joan gone.
Even though they were Slayers; even though they protected us for so long,
They died the same way.
And, with that, another girl was called;
Bringing harm to us again.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Jehanne de Sermaize was actually a real life imposter of Jeanne d'Arc.

She's mentioned on a site which I can't provide a link to right now, due to my post count.

So, post comments, please.

Nice... but why did they dislike Slayers so much? Or was it just because she impersonated Joan of Arc?
If you'd like to PM me the link, I'll post it for you (provided you haven't increased your post count enough of course :))

Oh, I should've made it clearer. It's because she impersonated Joan. Thank you.

I'll PM you the link ASAP.

This is a nice companion piece to DDLM's "Joan" story. That two Slayers were called in the same area back-to-back indicates a lot of vamp activity at the time, doesn't it? Is that the reason for:

I like poetry, but I can't write it worth a damn. I enjoy it especially when it is well done, as this is! Thanks!

Yup, that's the reason. Thank you so much.

BTW, I'm able to post the link now, due to my post count.

I always like it when Buffyverse stories are mixed with real history. Cool idea, and I dig the free verse. :D
