Idk there's a reason why Lindsay and Angel's relationship got mentioned as complex in the thread on complex relationships. I'm not saying what's going on is that but Lindsay seems to want attention and even respect from Angel. He's more pissed off Angel sends someone else to kill him than the fact he's assassinated. Anyone who has seen the Lego Batman movie can see parallels with the Joker - say you hate me, I'm your biggest nemisis. There's definitely some gay subtext from Lindsay towards Angel deliberate or not.Angel was Lindsays 'Arch Enemy' He was the center of his world because he was the one responsible for all the things going wrong for him...or so he thought.
Lindsay was not Gay, he was just so focused on Angel because of the above taht he couldn't think about much else.
I think plenty of people see gay subtext between Angel and Spike. I don't think Spike is really bi that and that his night with Angelus was just experimentation. His issues are more to do with gender ID (i.e. he fears he is and is seen as girly rather than being trans or having issues with dismorphia) than sexual orientation. It could be Lindsay has similar issues - he certainly has massive insecurities about mispowerment. But I think of Angel and Spike as a disfunctional father/son relationship more whereas with Angel /Lindsey is more disfunctional fraternal with I think a bit of a sexual undercurrent. Lindsay seems seek out a connection with Darla - is he trying to vicariously connect to Angel. Spike seems to want to live up to Angelus or Angel in Drusilla and Buffy's eyes but not to be him. Lindsay seems to want to be Angel or be the most important person to him even if it's as a nememisis.Lindsey did have an obession with Angel but that doesn't mean he's gay. Your points really make sense but I just never saw them that way.
Let's just look at Spike and Angel. Wasn't that basically the same? They were rivals. Hated each other. Fought all the time. Dru just couldn't get enough of Angel (In Lindsey's case it's Darla). Spike always wanted to kill him and so on. Isn't their relationship quite similar to Lindseys and Angels?
And who thinks Spike's gay? Well, maybe some people. But all in all they just don't seem like that. And in my opinion neither do Lindsey and Angel.
Spike is straight. I don't think Angel and Spike have ever had sex with each other because if that is supposed to be what defines "intimate" then Wesley and Gunn had absolutely nothing to worry about as they'd never slept with Angel therefore the wouldn't count as people Angel is "intimate" with.I don't think Spike is really bi that and that his night with Angelus was just experimentation.
