I was really excited/curious to see what this would be like... until I read this, emphasis mine:

from EW

"EW has learned that the network is developing a live-action grown-up version of The Powerpuff Girls. Written and executive produced by Diablo Cody (Juno) and Heather Regnier (Veronica Mars), the potential show is based on Craig McCracken's beloved Cartoon Network series of the same name about three super-powered young girls — Bubbles, Blossom, and Buttercup – who were created when a professor combined sugar, spice, everything nice, and the mysterious Chemical X. Together, the trio defended the city of Townsville from evildoers.

Here's the logline for Cody and Regnier's update: 'The Powerpuff Girls used to be America's pint-sized superheroes. Now they're disillusioned twentysomethings who resent having lost their childhood to crime-fighting. Will they agree to reunite now that the world needs them more than ever?'"

That's a hard pass for me. Watching disillusioned twentysomethings that resent their childhood doesn't seem very appealing. Ugh. Why does everything have to be so moody and cynical on the CW shows? That's why the trailer for Stargirl surprised me. It actually looked fun.

This Powerpuff series doesn't sound fun, and I bet it won't look fun either.

It's as if they forgot what made the PPG unique: kindergartner superheroes that deal with some pretty mature themes for a cartoon. The idea of making them older contradicts its original intent. It was a parody of superheroes, almost a satire really, not just an average superhero story that would make sense as "gritty disillusioned twenty somethings."

I always thought the powerpuff girls were kind of creepy and they were annoying.

That sounds dumb I think only the old powerpuff girls and the powerpuff movie was good. I dipped my toes into the new series and it was terrible because they had the girls act like teenagers.

I only had to get to "Written and executive produced by Diablo Cody" to know it's a pass...lol...
I only had to get to "grown-up version" to know it's a pass... so you liked it longer than I did. You liked the adult Powerpuff Girls, you liked the adult Powerpuff Girls.

I would honestly love to see this with a good script lol.

Then you're in luck; there was a treatment script leaked on-line a year or so ago and it got much negative reaction. I'm sure you can scour the interwebs and get a copy, or at least a reaction vid to a copy.
@Spanky' reaction is both accurate and gloriously optimistic as to how toxic the 'grown-up' characters were depicted.

I'm sure if I'd ever seen a Powerpuff Girl cartoon I'd be incredibly concerned about the impending ruination, but 1) I'm still reeling from the abomination that is the Velma Scooby Doo cartoon and 2) I was more of a My Little Pony fan so...
(Or MegaXLR, they better not touch that!)

And remember this is 'current year', no IP is safe; all will be 'updated/deconstructed and modernized for modern audiences'. And if you don't like it, then that's your problem.

It was satyrical comedy about our society and honestly a lot of Kaling’s points were spot on!

Hard disagree on that; for one bigotry towards white people ain't particularly cool or funny, just tired. But it is era-appropriate I guess.
