A new one hasn't been started yet so here it is. If the mods want to close this and start another one feel free.

In reply to @forbuss from a different thread:
Finally this year more and more Black performers were recognized for their fantastic work. It's sad it took a bunch of innocent Black folks dying publicly by the police for this to happen.
You mean black CRIMINALS. Despite what BLM would have you believe, the police aren't racist and don't go around hunting innocent black folks. If a criminal resists arrest or threatens a police officer with a weapon, the police are within their right to use force. Any police shooting is thoroughly investigated to make sure it was justified and that there was no wrong doing on the part of the cops. The left wanted you to believe that Breonna Taylor was asleep in bed when she was killed after the cops performed a no knock warrant. This is factually untrue. The cops announced their presence. Taylor's boyfriend shot one of the cops and the cops fired back. Taylor was stood in the hallway and got caught in the crossfire. Had the cops carried out the no knock warrant as they did on the residence of Taylor's partner in crime (they took him alive), she would probably still be alive since the boyfriend wouldn't have had time to grab a gun. Taylor was neck deep in drugs trafficking.

When the cops were found innocent of homicide by the BLACK Attorney general who was following the LAW and not pandering to BLM's feelings, people started rioting (as usual). They have even attacked him, calling him "skin folk" not "kin folk" because apparently black people aren't allowed to think for themselves. They have to think the way BLM want them to think otherwise they're not considered part of the black community. As Biden put it "You ain't black" if you don't do what the left wants you to do.

As for the black performers winning, if you read the full post you will see that I said if it had been any other year you could say that it was purely based on performance and well done to the winners. However this year, with such a focus on race by the left (and Hollywood is left wing), how do you know the winners were decided purely on performance with no other factors such as skin colour playing a part? It's a little too coincidental. Add in the fact Jimmy Kimmel being forced to recite the BLM slogan, it is at least questionable which is a shame for the actual winners. Any other year, there would be no question that the winners were picked on merit, regardless of what colour they are, this year however with BLM forcing it's way into everything, you can't say for certain.

You are also not representing the new rule at the Oscars. If anyone is curious, the rule is only for Best Picture. The new rule is very wordy but essentially movies need to have minority characters in front of and behind the camera which is inherently a good thing.
And the film has to be about minority storylines. The new Oscar rule is discriminatory, it is excluding films from a major category unless they basically go "woke" and adhere to the standards set by the left.

Too bad none of the POC trans women on this show got nominated. But I guess they must be the "wrong color" too as @DeadlyDuo put it.
Either their performances aren't good enough or the nomination slots were full. You're missing the point. The current rhetoric going around this year is that white people are inherently bad and have "white privilege" because of the colour of their skin. Suddenly this year just so happens to have a lot of black winners and the white host is forced to recite the BLM slogan repeatedly. You don't see the coincidence in that? The POC trans women not being nominated has nothing to do with their skin colour. To clarify, the issue itself isn't that black people were nominated and won, the issue is that it just so happened to occur in a year where white people are being heavily discriminated against by the far left whilst BLM (a political group) have their slogan being recited on the show so how can you be certain that it was based purely on merit and skin colour didn't influence the results.

In reply to @katmobile
No that's not what's been said it's saying Buffy doesn't handle it's portrayal of POC characters well and for a So Cal town there ought to be quite a lot more Hispanic looking faces around as the You Tuber T1J who is quite moderate said 'this cat is pretty' doesn't mean 'all other cats are ugly' - free your mind bro and the rest will follow
A group called "this cat is pretty" isn't going around looting and rioting and harassing innocent people by trying to intimidate them into obedience. A group called "this cat is pretty" isn't turning on black people who don't agree with their ideology. It's all very well saying this doesn't mean that, but actions have to back up that point, and BLM's actions are doing the exact opposite.

I have little to say on politics right now because its all been said before really. What I will say is that tonight's VP debate will surely be more interesting than last week's shambles. It has to be right?...

It all depends on whether the moderator actually allows the two candidates to debate back and forth or whether it's just "you say a statement, you say a statement, let's move on to the next section". It also depends on whether the moderator is impartial and willing to ask hard questions of BOTH candidates. I think there will be a lot clearer view of the democrats plans going forward since Harris isn't in mental decline like Biden (or she'll lie) and Pence is calmer temperament wise than Trump is.

Tyler County grand jury indicts Netflix in connection with 'Cuties' film

TYLER COUNTY, Texas — A Tyler County grand jury has indicted streaming giant Netflix for promotion of lewd visual material depicting a child.
The indictment targets Netflix's connection with the film, "Cuties."

According to the indictment, Netflix promotes "visual material which depicts the lewd exhibition of the genitals or pubic area of a clothed or partially clothed child who was younger than 18 years of age at the time the visual material was created, which appeals to the prurient interest in sex and has no serious literary, artistic, political, or scientific value..."

In September, Sen. Ted Cruz called for the Department of Justice to investigate whether Netflix broke any federal laws having to do with production and distribution of child pornography after the release of the film on the streaming service.

I thought the moderator was the winner of last week's debate. He was completely fair to both sides. Both knew they had two minutes for each answer (outside of the open round at the end). There was no excuse for all the talking over each other there was or going off topic etc..

Haha. Oh, wait. You were being serious? Wallace forgot he was supposed to be the moderator and not actually be the one debating. Biden sat back and let Wallace debate Trump for him far too often. You saw how unfair the moderator was when he let Biden interrupt Trump initially without rebuke but then attempts to silence Trump for doing the same thing. From the opening moment Wallace ceded control in hopes of inserting his own viewpoints and never regained that control.

Well, I haven't watched the film so I can't really say for sure, but I feel like this is a bit over the top. Cancel your subscription? Sure. But federal charges? Not so much.

But why not? If is viewed as being illegal. An attorney said (and I may be paraphrasing) because this is put out on a large scale and readily acceptable for viewing, does it make it more or less of a crime?

Joe Biden visited the Little Haiti Cultural Center and he told the crowd "the good news is, for me, I'm here. The bad news for you is I'm coming back." He then spotted a group of young girls and said he wanted to see them dancing when they're four years older.

LOL. He should just not speak at all.

It sounds awful out of context, but all he is saying is that he is planning to come back for his re-election campaign to see them dance once again. They weren't some random girls he just spotted. They had danced for him. He's at a cultural centre. Dance is culture.

But it wasn't out of context. It was taken in context. That's the problem. He speaks out of context jumping from one thing to the next without any segue and unless you really think what he's saying it sounds bad. I knew exactly what he meant, but that doesn't mean it doesn't sound bad.

Yes but when the same happens to Trump your the first to jump up and down about it. If its one wrong for one, its wrong for both.

It was obvious that Wallace was there to protect Biden as much as possible. Everyone knew that Trump would dominate that debate...which he did. And Wallace tried to shut him down as often as he could, to help Biden.

Afterwards, there was speculation/concern about the next debate. Would Trump follow the two minute rule? Would he allow Biden to get a word in edgewise? What could be done to ensure that Biden had a chance this time? Oh yeah! Let's infect the President, First Lady, and various White House staffers with the virus!

So, Trump was in quarantine while Uncle Joe had the stage all to himself. He even had the chance to spew his nonsense on the recent NBC News Town Hall Meeting. Awww, its so NICE that he's getting all this help! 🙄

He's like someone's pet chihuahua that's being protected from the neighbour's Rottweiler.

I think its a rocky road if we are going to start dictacting what a fictual film is allowed to protrayal. I agree to bring charges against is over stepping the mark and a waste of the courts time. Meanwhile there are more serious crimes probably not being proscuated.

So if you and I were discussing something and I kept talking over you, not letting you get your answers in and changing the subject you wouldn't be mad at me. If the only way Trump can win a debate is to talk over someone, not give them a proper chance to respond and to go off the topic it paints him in a bad light.

I don't know what the problem is with this last point? Its Election season. Its not like Trump had pulled out of the rece. You can sure bet that if the roles were reversed Trump would still be going ahead with TV appearances etc.. As it was he was milking his illness for all its worth.

@Mr Trick There's a difference between editing clips to take someone out of context and someone actually speaking out of context. I was actually "jumping up and down" defending what Biden was trying to say to some people. Sorry if that doesn't fit in the box.

"the good news is, for me, I'm here. ["I'm alive" alternatively "I'm pleased to be here". Or, doubly coded and both]. The bad news for you is I'm coming back. [Self-depreciation. Irony discharging itself at benign end of the scale. Refreshing to hear from a politician. Others could learn something]. " He then spotted a group of young girls and said he wanted to see them dancing when they're four years older ["I hope neither you nor I die of Covid in the next four years/I want to see you again when I return here during the campaign for my second term as President].

Meh...I don't think it's speaking that's a problem...listening could be though.

I disagree. I don't think listening is the problem. I think hearing what you want to hear is the problem. And that is a problem that affects both candidates. There are in fact plenty of "creepy" things Biden has done in the past, I just don't see this as being creepy if you understand what he was trying to say.

What I'm saying (again, without having actually seen it) is I question whether it is a crime or just in poor taste.

I think I get what he was trying to say, but jeeze...what a cringe moment for him.

I don't think that he was trying to help Biden. I feel like Chris Wallace is a reporter with a lot of integrity. I think he was more trying to keep it fair, but with those two it wasn't easy.

But isn't that what the jury will ultimately decide- whether it's just poor taste or child pornography? That's the whole purpose of convening the grand jury.

I don't think anything will come of it per se, but I do think the possibility will prohibit similar themed movies from happening in the future.

I have one thing to say about The Cuties movie. Parents are damn ostriches when it comes to their children and sexuality. They don't want to hear that their children are sitting in their rooms watching porn. Why is sex ed in school important? Because parents are idiots and cowards and if it wasn't impossible by definition, you'd think they were virgins, too.

Not having seen the movie, I welcome a movie that explores the effect of pornography on children. But I wish people (parents especially) would consider what the movie is trying to say about the issue, rather than accuse Netflix or the New Yorker or whoever of being part of the leftist pedophile conspiracy.
