Yeah...give or take the odd jump cut, you've just described my life. :( Is that Il racconto dei racconti? If so, I think I've got it on Blu-Ray. Never watched it (bar the first 10 minutes) 'cos no HoH subtitles.
Yes that's the one. It was in English, not dubbed, and had an international cast. The fairy tales were very dark, lots of death, disappointment and shame 😟 I prefer a happy ending.

I always feel a bit of a fraud needing subtitles for films in English. I suspect I don't always "need" them...just want them because I'm used to it.

Exterminators of the Year 3000 (1983) 5.5/10
Spaghetti Western science fiction . Italian film but shot in Spain . Breathtaking views of the semi-desert (prolly Almeria). Incredibly dangerous car stunts . Aside from that , it's pretty bad .

Seriously...where do you find the stamina to finish a 5/10 film? Is it optimism... perseverance... determination? I don't get it...I feel bad about myself. I'm obviously a defeatist... 😄

My Youtube feed is full of movies I don't finish , mostly anime and VHS quality martial arts flicks at the moment :p .

Haven't got much patience for cinema in 2021 . Even a great film only lasts a couple of hours . Seems a lot of effort for a marginal reward.

With this film , I have always quite liked post-apocalyptic stories in all media , especially as a younger man . So I was mostly surprised I hadn't already seen it :p .

Animals (2019) - Couldn't finish it. Felt false and ridiculous, maybe because I don't live in a big city so don't meet people like this. 4/10

Charlie Says (2018) - Gripping, but a difficult watch. Great performances, Matt Smith is a surprisingly good Manson and Merritt Wever is always good 9/10

A rare remake better than the original. Love how they play up the romationship angle which makes it more than just a B-Movie (with impressive fleshy effects) but is also tragic and entertaining.

Casino Royale (2006) I love Daniel Craig and Judi Dench and I used to enjoy this film, now I have to ff through whole scenes as it's so cringey. I feel robbed by myself 😁 5/10

I had to laugh...sorry if it's not funny. What's the saying...you can never go back? 😄

Why cringey? Because of the age difference between Craig and Eva Green? Don't think there was that much of a jump.

A lot of Green's acting made me cringe. The heart attack scene was awful. The horseback riding wife (sorry can't remember her name) was awful, especially that sex scenes on the floor. So much of it made me cringe. I basically only watched half the movie, and I used to love this film.

Eva Green shines in roles like Vanessa Ives (Penny Dreadful.) 🤩

The Giver (2014) -4/5
A really good adaptation of the book, all the changes felt totally justified and right for making it into a movie that was worthwhile. Made the ending a bit more positive too, which was probably necessary. But then, I had high hopes going in seeing cast members like Jeff Bridges, Meryl Streep, Katie Holmes, and Alexander Skarsgård.
It was funny when the character Rosemary came on screen though and I was like, I recognize that face, but couldn't place it. Only to realize it was Taylor Swift, lol, perhaps the wig threw me off.

Not sure it works unless you like the book though, while the changes were good (like aging up the characters and changing sequences of events), they also added general YA-movie stuff like romance, the hint of a love triangle, and more high stakes at the end. I can imagine it is somewhat bland unless you really like the story going into it.

Little Pink House (2017) 3/10

I was watching with my Mum. She liked the look of it. Think we both agreed it wasn't the best.

An Unsuitable Job For A Woman (1982) - Based on the PD James novel. Quite slow moving and sparsely filmed, but interesting 6/10

Maybe a unpopluar opinion but this is actually my favourite of the sequels. Its the perfect conclusion to the perfect trilogy. I love the Doc/Clara romance. And they call their kids Jules and Verne! 😍
