Spander...friendship

On a rewatch I am seeing how funny the dynamic was between Spike and Xander, they always irked each other the wrong way but I think underneath a friendship could have blossomed. However him sleeping with Anya and Buffy and then SR killed that. Kind of a pity

They do have a wonderful friendship in the comics. They flat shared and owned cats at one point. I do think if the show had continued, they would have become friends.
