Tears of the Slayer Part 1
Willow was stood in the classroom facing out of the windows, tears had welled in her eyes though they had not fallen down her cheeks. The teacher Miss Rayne had asked her what was wrong? But she got no reply. Buffy looked to the teacher, “Four years ago a friend of hers died.”
“As far as I’m aware Willow has tried to make contact with him but I am not too sure how,” said Buffy. Willow turned to face the teacher and in a shaky voice said, “My friend was murdered.” “I am so sorry, I had no idea how your friend died,” said Miss Rayne.
Buffy faced Miss Rayne, “I know that Willow wanted to contact him many times.” Miss Rayne looked to Willow, then to Buffy, “Has she had any success in her endeavours?” Buffy was surprised that a teacher would condone such activity.
“I lost my older sister in an accident ten years ago, she saved another girl from being knocked over,” said Miss Rayne. hearing the teacher Buffy faced her and as compassionately as she could she asked the teacher, “Have you ever tried to reach out to your dead sister?”
Miss Rayne started to agree with her. “I can hardly remember my sister though I do remember what she said to me that last morning.” The teacher sat down and put her head in her hands, “She told me I was perfect just the way I was.”
Buffy looked to Willow who spoke to the teacher, “Even though it was all those years ago you still remember what she said?” “I do, there are some things in life you never forget, I saw the girl my sister saved she remembered asking my dying sister why she saved her,” said Miss Rayne.
“What was your sister’s reply?” asked Willow. “That is what has caused me to remember, the girl said my sister thanked her though I never found out why, my sister died at that point,” said Miss Rayne. Willow faced Buffy, “I could try to contact her to find out what she meant.”
The teacher looked to Willow, “Could you?” “Would you do that for the teacher?” asked Buffy. Willow smiled to them, “Trying to help the teacher will, I think, help me.” Willow sat at the teachers desk, “How would you like me to try and contact your sister?” “I have a choice?”
Willow smiled to her teacher, “A lot depends on which way will scare you the least, I can try to bring back your sister and what that entails is that you will see your sister. With extra effort on my behalf you’d be able to have a conversation with her,” said Willow.
“That does sound a bit scary but if I’m going to find out what I’ll need to talk with her,” said Miss Rayne. “No,” said Willow “I can try to contact her and just use our voices you would not get to see her or use the Ouija Board.” “Doesn’t the church frown on such things?”
Buffy laughed at the teacher, “The church frowns on sex before marriage but it isn’t evil.” A grin could slowly be seen emblazoned on Miss Rayne’s face. “Oh really,” said Willow. Miss Rayne admitted it was not the sort of thing to say in a class.
Willow whispered to Buffy that it might be a good idea to invite Oz to help them, Buffy agreed and while Willow rang him then she prepared the classroom by pulling the curtain over the windows. Then she covered the television screen and the computer’s monitor.
“What will that do?” asked Miss Rayne. “Stop any views of the spirit in the glass, I take it you do not want to see the spirit,” said Willow. “Who is going to go first?” asked Miss Rayne. Willow looked at her and expressed some confusion.
“What you said was that you didn’t want to see the spirit of your sister, so we have prepared the room so as not to scare you,” said Willow. Buffy looked to Miss Rayne, “Willow is okay with seeing her friend. I never did ask but why don’t you want to see your sister?” asked Willow.
The teacher looked even sadder than before, “My sister was knocked over by a bus I was not allowed to see her until they had repaired her face for her time in the coffin. I do not even know if she would be okay to talk. So doing the Ouija Board might be less scary.”
Buffy put her hand on Miss Rayne’s hand, “You do not need to worry about that it is known to those in the know that even people who had lost a leg in a previous accident can come back as a person with two legs so any injuries sustained in that accident may not be evident,” said Buffy.
Miss Rayne thanked Buffy then Willow told Miss Rayne, “When you are ready announce that you are ready to converse with your sister using the letters of the alphabet.” Each of them faced to the shot crystal glass on the Ouija board.
Miss Rayne looked up then declared, “I would like to speak with my sister Margaret who died ten years ago.” Miss Rayne faced Willow, “What do we do now?” Willow smiled, “Now we wait then ask again and if nothing happens we could try to initiate contact using the letters.”
“How will we now if it is my sister who is spelling the words to me?” asked Miss Rayne. “By asking her only questions she will know the answer to. “Some people suggest that a key is placed in a bible at where the Lord’s prayer is written and you recite the Lord’s prayer.”
“I disagree with that as we do not know if the bible is correct,” said Willow.
Miss Rayne announced aloud that she wanted to speak to make contact with her sister, the glass began to slowly circle inside the letters then it went to the middle of the board and stopped.
The glass moved to the letters to start their contact, H-E-L-L-O M-I-S-B-E-T-H. Willow faced Buffy before Miss Rayne could intervene. “My name is Bethesda though when my sister Margaret first knew me she had a troublesome lisp and couldn’t say my name properly, that is what she always called me.”
