Now I know that no matter how hard I try, I will never own all of the Buffy books. And I still need to look into the comics. Still, thanks!

So there are novels of the Buffyverse, this is interesting. I will certainly be checking some of these out when I finish with the other five books I have in my queue and two unfinished.

Thanks for this. I'd like to read the books at some point. I'm not sure if they will really be 'Buffy' as the TV show was, if at all really. It could still be nice from a collecting point of view - I'm a bit behind on my Buffy collecting. ;)

The script books could be great collectables. I haven't read the Buffy scripts; I probably should though, something else I'm far too behind on. ;) I read a book based on the script of the Buffy movie once. It was pretty good, better than the film itself probably.

Some of the books are really good (Though it was years ago I remember enjoying Pretty maids all in a row and Monster Island in particular, and think that Christopher Golden and Nancy Holder are the best Btvs authors), if you're interested we currently have a BB Bookclub that is reading "The book of fours" for January. If that's too soon keep your eyes open for next book to start :)

It's good to know some of the books are good, even though they weren't written by Joss. I've been looking at some of them them on amazon, and found the 'yearbook' particularly interesting. They would be good from a collectors perspective. I would be interested in the book club but I'm studying full time again soon, so it might be a while before I'll have the time. It would depend how fast the pace is.

Why Buffy Matters is a favourite of mine. Just made some engaging and very well thought out reasons for why the show deserves respect as a work of art.

Couldn't agree more! I also have a soft spot for the Gatekeeper trilogy, I think it was around the first non novelizations of episodes I read way back when. I'm completing my novel collection and currently rereading the Season 1 arcs. The Buffy novels definitely grew in their maturity along with the show, some of these are at an extremely young reading level with scattered characterizations, but it's still a charming romp through the 'verse!

The Buffy Reddit community has put together a excellent reference list for reading Buffy & Angel in chronological order, including ratings and how to skip material without becoming lost. It's what I plan to use to get going on the comics.

I'm currently working through this
Chronology
(Just started 'Visitors')
It has all novels, comics, shows, etc in chronological order. Although the novels I'm up to at the minute are out of sync with the show.

So I noticed on Amazon that the publisher has decided to create eBooks out a few of the Buffy titles. But they are pricing them at $9.99 each. Really???

While, some of the books were well-written for their time, unless they're going to update them for a modern-day reader (which of course they won't), I think $10 for an eBook is ridiculous. Especially, when there are so many awesome eBooks for under $5 to read at every online eBook retailer. I guess the price won't bother hardcore fans, but as someone who works in the publishing industry, that price is way high in my opinion.

I know, right! I've been on a 90s YA kick lately but when you look up Kindle versions of old Fear Street books or Christopher Pike most of them are like $10-13... I mean they're fun books (fun in the sense of often being kind of terrible), but hardly worth that kind of dough. Cut it in half at least! Lucky for me I prefer the old paper copies anyway, though the really great 90s covers are hard to find. If they were cheaper on Kindle I'd probably get them there out of sheer convenience.
