Its actually this weekend coming! 3-6th March. I got my weekends mixed up. Might just text those mates in Manji for a roof haha. I dont drink so driving back at night is not a problem. Nah doubtful I will have the energy. I move house on the 15th.

Uh well, maybe my band will play next year haha.

Oh is that when you're moving to the Great Southern or it is still Perth area?

OccaQuokka: Yeah i move away on the 15, chronic pain makes for low energy. If I get a burst of mania, no one could stop me haha. Bet security is lax ;)

Always been a bit in-different to the Foo Fighters. They've done some great stuff (Everlong is a classic), but then a lot of forgettable songs too. And don't ask me for examples because I've forgotten them!:p Think Groul is better as a drummer than frontman.

Saw the other day than their headlining Glastonbury this year for the first time. Will be interesting to see what sort of set they play.

Unpopular opinion but people tend to overrate Dave Grohl on the drums. His style is quite simplistic. It's all power, all the time. At least Taylor Hawkins has some light and shade. I prefer him over Dave.
I like Dave much better as a frontman and think he's way more talented on guitar than drums by far.

Bluebird: Taylor doesn't get his props, he's good!

I play both the guitar and the drums and Dave is a far better drummer than he is guitar player. His style is simple, but he's incredibly precise. You can listen to his Everlong drum track (the picture shows Taylor, but it's Dave). That is some seriously good and consistent drumming. Of course he's not the most technical drummer ever, but why would he need to be? He's more of a John Bonham kind of drummer. Taylor is a little more versatile than Dave, though.
But most of all, I think Dave's an insanely good songwriter.

Disagree on Groul as a drummer. Thing is he has played drums for other artists too such as Cat Power. If you listen to his drumming on her own album You R Free it proves that he is more than a one trick pony.

As a front man I find him a bit overbearing, and he does that thing a lot of just shouting random shit instead of singing the lines. If the songs are good enough, it doesn't matter too much.

I am going to see The Shins on Wednesday night. My girlfriend likes them but all I know of them is they're very laid back. Think I'll be the only one there who no clue what's going on as apparently they rarely play over here and it's sold out.

Yeah I've never really heard much of them either. Think they have a decent sound but have never really grabbed me personally.

The Shins played here on Saturday there as part of BBC's (ugh) 6 Music Festival across Glasgow. I like The Shins, well, I used to obsessed with their album 'Oh, Inverted World'. They are quite laid back but they have some loud stuff too à la Modest Mouse.

I'm just hoping that the crowd is decent. I don't think I've been to an indie style gig before. The few pop gigs I've been to the crowds have been awful. Almost completely lifeless except when they're moaning that they can't see or are waving their phones about.

Oh, wait. Iron Maiden is actually going to be my next gig. And then GNR and then maybe Tom Jones in August.

I hope you catch Axl on a good day. When I saw them at Reading he left us standing in the rain for an hour, sounded awful and didn't manage to play a full set.

GwenRaiden: My pal who goes to see GNR a lot said the exact same thing. He seems to do it a lot. Most fans are used to it. I can't stand GNR or Axl Rose. That genre of music specifically is awful to me.

Was that back in 2010? 'Cause he certainly was in pretty bad shape back then.

Yes back in 2010. It rained solidly from when we arrived on Thursday morning until they played on Friday night. I like a few GnR tracks but my girlfriend was a massive fan. The main reason she came along actually so she was extremely disappointed.

@GwenRaiden just got back from The Shins. I've seen livelier morgues. The band don't interact with the crowd. The crowd barely even sang along let alone moved. Everyone was so concerned with securing their bit of floor space to stand and watch. I'm sure people must have liked it because it was sold out and there was a big reaction at the end but you couldn't tell throughout. My girlfriend was happy to get to see them though so not a complete waste of a night.

Well, I wouldn't have paid a single buck to see them back then, to be honest. That wasn't GNR. Now Slash and Duff are back and Axl is really trying.

Saw them at MetLife Stadium not too long ago... it was a blast. As long as those three are there, it's GnR
