Thanks to those who gave permission for us purveyors of Fan Fiction to write our imagination of what Buffy and Cos: future may have held, here is my latest offering.

They Were Friends - 1

Buffy looked to Willow, “Why are they here, where did they come from, did someone set them on me?” asked Buffy. Willow looked into the chasm as did Buffy. They saw movement deep in the chasm the figures were too far from them to be seen. “What do you think?” “I don’t know I was hoping you did,” said Buffy.

Willow shook her head as she faced her friend. “I hoped that with your knowledge of magic you might know of a way to help you see further,” stated Buffy. Willow was surprised, it was the first time she had heard her friend ask her to use the magic to make her benefit herself, “You want me to make myself better than I am?” asked Willow.

“Why do you think it so strange my asking you to help?” asked Buffy. Willow felt guilty, she was trying to remember if Buffy had ever asked her to make herself better than she was. “You want me to make myself a better person than I am?” asked Willow. Buffy looked into the chasm, “For whatever reason I want to know what those down there are?”

Buffy looked to her friend, “Are they a danger to me, you, or any of our friends?” Willow stepped back from the edge and Buffy carefully watched her. It was as if Willow was pulling down something from above, then it looked like Willow was trying to raise something up from the ground then she pulled from in front of her then from behind she pulled from each side.

Buffy gasped as Willow walked to the edge of the chasm and pulled what was below her to her head. Willow stopped her motions, turned then walked to be beside Buffy. “I’m not sure how they are what they are, those creatures below us are vampires, gargoyles, Werewolves and Angels,” stated Willow.

Buffy looked into the chasm, she wasn’t very impressed by all the numbers she saw, she turned to Willow, “I don’t suppose you managed to count how many of each of them there were?” asked Buffy. Willow shrugged her shoulder, “There didn’t seem much of a reason to.” Deep in the chasm the vampires, Gargoyles and Werewolves looked up at the two figures atop the chasm.

The leaders of each group agreed that one of the gargoyles should fly to the top of the chasm and find out if those that were looking down at them were friendly or not. Leighton, he who was the leader of the Gargoyles flew up to the ridge then swung around low over the ground until no eyes were watching him, she watched the two young women.

Seeming that they were not a threat to him or his kind he flew down to pass on the news of them. He passed on the news of them, as each gargoyle was able to carry another to the top of the chasm the myriad of creatures soon confronted Willow and Buffy. Buffy recognised them as being those who the Watchers Council had ordered her to slay.

Buffy whispered to Willow, “I am meant to be the slayer of them but I sense that all is not right about them, I can sense that each one of them has a soul, what do I do?” asked Buffy. Willow was confused as she looked to the creatures that confronted her. She stepped towards them then smiled. Leighton stepped towards her, smiled then offered his hand in friendship.

Buffy reached to Willow’s shoulder and rested a hand on her, stepping forward until she stood beside Willow, “Thank you Will,” said Buffy. She looked to them then fixed her gaze at Leighton, “What are you here to do?” asked Buffy. Leighton waved her arm to Zaiare the leader of the vampires then to Veronian, she who led the Angels and Rey’d of the werewolves.

“We are here to find friends,” said Leighton. Willow grinned to Leighton, “I am but one of a group who seeks to protect the world from creatures who would do it and its population harm. My friend is Buffy she is known as The Vampire Slayer, chosen as the one who leads us to protect the world and its population though we do not speak for all of the world’s people.”

“I fight the creatures who would harm the world’s population in secret, only a few know who I am I would suggest you keep yourselves secret from the world’s population. They would fear you and in that sense of fear they would try to kill you, believe me the armies of the countries of this world take great delight in killing anything they can so be like me and remain a secret,” said Buffy.

“Only tell of yourself to a few,” continued Buffy. “Or you will find yourselves being attacked by those you are here to protect, many of those creatures on this world are what you or I might know as warmongers, to save them from those who would do them harm do so without either party knowing you exist, it will be safer for you,” said Willow.

Buffy and Willow led Zaiare to their home and taught him how to contact Willow’s mind should the need arise. “We have a friend who was a vampire, he sought out a soul for himself. He has proven himself to be good, though I’d ask you to see what you think of him for yourself, his name is Spike,” said Buffy.

Happy that Zaiare agreed Buffy took him to where he could see Spike. After waiting for what seemed like an age Zaiare spoke his thoughts about Spike, “He is surrounded by evil though he fights against it, I feel others are with him she who is Illyria the one who is a human his name is Gunn. There is one who I see is a leader of them, he fights against all evil but he has a capacity to return to being evil. He I do not trust as he might be turned at any time,” said Zaiare.

Buffy was happy that another though that Spike was good.

They Were Friends – 2

Buffy was glad that she was not the only one, that there was another who was highly regarded who thought of Spike as good. Buffy felt the existence of the slayer line was better regarded than it was when she was of the belief that only the Watchers Council was on her side. Willow said they could get others to join them knowing that they were not a few against the many.

Buffy let all the slayers she was aware of know of the myriad of the soulful creatures who would supported them in battle. Wanting to know more about the creatures Buffy asked Willow to search for them. Willow went a long way into the tunnel that was burrowed just below the horizontal line into the earth, though she wandered along the tunnel she didn’t descend much.

Her wanderings had been noticed by Rey’d the leader of the Werewolves, he made himself known to Willow as she entered the vale of light, though he wanted to know why Willow seemed to be overly interested by him and his kind. Willow looked at him and explained herself to him that she wondered about the beginnings of his kind.

Rey’d told Willow that the vampires and the Angels had been created by the Powers of good the werewolves had been created from nature. The wolves had kept themselves dry and when needed the had driven themselves into the underground, many of them needed to remain within the depths of the ground.

In keeping their bodies against the soil that was below the waste food of the humans, when the wolves rose to the surface as wolf and human – werewolf. Willow asked Rey’d how one could stop the effects of the werewolf. “Nothing is known of how or why we are,” said Rey’d. “But much is known about them, though I’d like to know a bit more,” said Willow.

Rey’d agreed that nothing was factually known about the werewolf as all that was written was by a man who was involved with making a film, if we listened to him no werewolf could be possible to do good to man or woman. “So much of humankind is wrong.” Willow looked up to what is above them, she asked Rey’d, “Where are we?”

Expecting to hear that she was on her way into Hell. Rey’d told her the valley she had just entered got its name from the shadow of the mountain above you the Devil built this castle the forest beyond it and to the fore five acres of water. Willow looked to the mountain and saw it was upturned in the middle of the valley. “The magma rose to the surface where it flowed as lava.”

Occasionally the flow of the magma did backfire as did the lava, then such was the time that it then fell down onto the slopes and onto the slippery slope that led the many down to the levels of Hell. The entrance to the pit is often topped up by new souls of humans who slide into it and keep the pool of brimstone as it always is.

Not many saw the opening as a welcome place to slide into. The castle under the upturned mountain was known by he who resided in the castle in the morning when the sun threw its shadow of it on the forest, and yea though you walk into the valley that is cast by the shadow of the mountain of Death.

Buffy was beginning to worry about Willow, about what obstructions she would face. Another problem was being faced by her, Buffy had gone to Giles to try and learn how magic worked and how it started. Giles told Buffy that he was unable to say how it started but he knew how it had begun to be, he pointed to a tree.

“The tree is an example, the seed for a tree is a tiny thing yet the tree when full grown can be thirty yards tall with a mass of leaves on miles of wooden branches. Consider where all the energy for that growth came from, soil of varying types and the moisture from rain. It has often been said that witchcraft comes from nature,” Giles concentrated on how the magic was created.

He said that witches claim they gain their power from natural forces in nature yet none of them can explain where that power of magic comes from. A few was said that thought had presented them with the idea that only a few of the many can accurately decipher how the elements get the power. Though the name of the deity had been concealed.

Deep in the seals of the forest the beings of Pan and Herne were kept secret from those they wanted to; the vampires, the gargoyles and Angels. Being honest about who and what each of them was the God does not hide his fur bound legs – reputed to have been given his infamous identity be one of Zeus’s escorts.

The hunter with the head of the stag beckoned his worship among the country folk whenever he appeared in a bank of fog the special few accidentally summoned him during their secretive visits into the forbidden areas of the forests, where the footpaths were able to bend from the paths being walked.

Buffy watched the antlers of the stags head secrete themselves amongst the shrubs and pickets among the saplings of the new trees Willow stared at the heads of its children its mate turned and walked to a nearby copse, Willow watched him leave she realised he needed to know more of what was, he followed her to the copse.

When he had entered the copse Willow found she was puzzled why and confused how he had disappeared. Going into the copse herself she found herself unable to see where the deer had gone. The words that were spoken ‘Into the valley beyond the second hill’ were repeated in the boundaries of her mind.

Such was the comfort found when she lifted the cloth that early the following morning the God of the forests, Pan. He stood at the head of the army of trees, though many of her warriors stood ready, many of more were warriors that had bravely walked with lengths of wood the only reason they were stood now was the poles of wood that were leant on.

A dome of light rose from and spread over the ground until it covered each of them. A voice floated to them from within the light much needed, the voice told them she had caused the light to be. They looked toward the light before the glow faded, a new glow that glistened in the morning sun.

They Were Friends - 3

From beyond the glow a figure appeared to march towards Willow, not knowing who it was initially Willow waited until the figure drew closer. Eventually she recognized the figure as Rey’d. When they stood by each other Rey’d raised a hand toward the sky – pointing to Leighton. Willow looked up to see the winged body fly down to next to her. Then he was stood near her Leighton told Willow that, “He has a message for you,”

Leighton pointed to where he had just come from, “from the one who leads us from up there.” He said to present the one you know as Faith, he wants her to inform all others who gave the error of your people beliefs, to give yourselves the belief you are the right ones. Willow passed on what was said the Buffy who told Giles.

When Faith was told, “That name you just said to me, it has long been a sense of woe for me.” Faith found proof of what she thought and so now she was adamant that her belief was the correct line of thought, that the history of Americas was false; there had been no ruling from England it was the seriously rich Americans who tried to keep themselves rich.

Faith discovered that the King of England was overtly glad he didn’t need bother about the blatantly dumb colony, he wanted to concentrate the country’s ailing finances on the French and Spanish navy’s and to shore up the coastal defenses from the risk of by French or Spanish invasion, not waste armies in America.

But such was the ruling classes that captured English ships were promoted as still being ruled by Englanders, even to having false attacks such as the Boston Tea Party be made known to all both near and far. Captured and killed Englishmen’s uniforms were repaired so that American’s could wear them and promote American injustice.

The King of England was informed of what the American’s were up to, he had to send warships across the vast sea to America at great cost to him, to the country and if the country had been invaded they could not protect themselves effectively. The King ordered that his Generals show no mercy to any of the Americans caught.

The English Navy decided to trap the American navy, when they did so they recognised all the ships used were of English design and the sailors wore colours of the English navy, easily defeating them. Then they stayed to reap the rewards of battle, they questioned the captured and discovered how the Americans had planned to defeat themselves.

That being done the Americans were left to win the war against themselves. Being relegated to a war against itself the Americans sought revenge against the English. Almost a hundred years later that revenge was planned and set in motion. Though the English used its own history to defeat the American’s love of war.

Developing a fire ship that was as a copy of the large one previously built to destroy the ships in the siege of Antwerp. The day the English fire ship gained notoriety as one of the first few weapons of Mass Destruction a simple wooden sailing ship was known as the Hellburner. Even two centuries later the French and Spanish navy’s ‘ran’ away.

The Americans were left to say the English were the cause of the civil war even though they were never seen, no ship that flew a British flag was not allowed near the American continent. Once again the American armed forces were forced into a battle against itself though they didn’t know about the forces and the legions from below.

From the south the legions of the damned flooded against the north, though unknown to them Faith led the monstrous armies brought forward by Zaiare, Veronian, Rey’d and Leighton along with the line of Slayers. Though they had no way of knowing it those armies were destined for a life where their greatness was fulfilled.
