Buffy star Anthony Head films gruesome scenes for new Harlan Coben Netflix thriller The Stranger with Richard Armitage on building site
By ANDREW BULLOCK FOR MAILONLINE

Anthony Head - known for roles in Buffy The Vampire Slayer and Little Britain - is currently busy filming scenes for his latest project - a Netflix thriller titled The Stranger.

The drama is the latest collaboration between the streaming service and Harlan Coben - whose show Safe was met with warm reviews last year.

Anthony, 65, joined co-star Richard Armitage, 47, on a building site in Greater Manchester.

Anthony looked smart in a grey suit and a long trench coat, a pink and white striped tie completing the look.

Richard - known for roles in The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey and The Vicar Of Dibley - cut a much more casual appearance, in a bomber jacket over a sweater and slacks.

The pair were seen stood among the rubble, with police tape cordoning off the scene.

The scenes seemed highly tense, with both men looking stern as they looked on - breaking now and then and cracking a smile with one another.

Richard plays Adam Price, the series’ protagonist who finds himself tangled in a mysterious web of deception.

His steady life, two wonderful sons and watertight marriage all seem unassailable – until The Stranger reveals a shocking secret about his wife.

The series is based on the bestselling novel by author Coben and also stars Hannah John-Kamen (Ant-Man and The Wasp, Ready Player One) who will play the title character - a mysterious stranger who exposes people’s secrets, dropping bombshells that will shatter lives.

Also starring in the eight-part show is Happy Valley's Siobhan Finneran who takes a leading role as a punchy police detective, DS Johanna Griffin, who finds her pragmatic approach to police work compromised when her investigation into the matter becomes deeply personal.

Jennifer Saunders (Absolutely Fabulous) joins in her first major dramatic role, as Heidi, Johanna’s closest friend; an outgoing character who is seeking adventure after her daughter leaves for university.

The cast also includes Shaun Dooley (Ordinary Lies, Broadchurch), Paul Kaye (Game of Thrones), Dervla Kirwan (Strike Back, Silent Witness), Kadiff Kirwan (Chewing Gum, Black Mirror) and Oscar-nominated actor Stephen Rea (War and Peace, The Crying Game).

If the role is any where near as gruesome as his role in REPO The Genetic Opera was, ooh goody!
As for his famous roles, BTVS, Dr. Who and Ghost Rider were the better known ones, by me.

He was also in “Merlin” as Arthur’s father! He did a great job on that show as well! He’s really a well-rounded actor!

This sounds good so far. Last thing I saw ASH in was Dominion on SyFy channel. Glad he's getting work, I like Armitage so I'll give it a shot.

Still not seen this. What did people think? Netflix must have a deal with Coben. Have produced at least three of his stories which I know of.

I thought it was a classic American crime drama planted in to an English setting, so a bit odd. It was accepted as perfectly normal for a British detective to pull a gun from his coat pocket. But if you can get past that, the performances were good, and there were some surprising moments.
