The Catholic Priest Valentine upset the church by giving to the wrong people, instead of doing as the church wanted he continued to give gifts to the villagers on February 14th, so the church had him sent to prison.
But Priest Valentine would give gifts to the prison guards on February 14th. Eventually he died in prison but the people of the village remembered him and gave gifts to each other on February 14th each year so the Catholic church did what they do best. They made Priest Valentine a Saint and so to this date there began a St. Valentine's Day.

The pizza place down the street from me was offering free slices for Valentine's Day, but of course, the hordes descended. Some people might be willing to wait 30 minutes to save $5 on pizza, but not me.
