I wonder, was there someone more powerful than Caleb in the whole buffy series, Caleb was strong, a lethal fighter, and invulnerable.

No, NPC-Illyria is the strongest, you know, prior to her power drain. But I suppose you said Buffy. The problem is that Adam was only defeated by Merged Buffy, which is definitely Buffy’s strongest form, whereas Caleb still had trouble with Spike and Angel. Now, we know that Buffy get’s a power boost of some kind from the Ax, we just don’t know how much. But not as much from the Merger. So, I would have to say, Adam. But, Caleb is a close second.

Caleb was definitely skilled as far as his butt kicking skills. No one can deny his power after that one punch that sent Buffy flying across the vineyard in "Dirty Girls". I also felt like he got stronger whenever he merged with The First, so he's strong but he still needs a sponsor. My vote for strongest enemy or Big Bad would be Glory, IMO. She was a god, for god's sake. ;) She gave Buffy a run for her money the entire season while Glory was out buying shoes. She was the only villain Buffy ever ran away from. Like literally, let's pack our bags and get out of dodge run away. She was infinitely more powerful than Buffy and both her and Glory knew that. Plus, I believe she is the only main villain on the show that Buffy didn't technically kill, since it was Giles that smothered Ben/Glory to death.

Physically strongest= Glory for all the wonderfully stated reasons above

Emotionally strongest= Angelus, he got inside Buffy in a way no other villain could. For goodness sakes, after all Angelus is just a vampire, should have been an easy dust for a slayer as strong as Buffy. But she couldn't kill the vampire wearing the face of the man she loved. Angelus knew just how to toy with her. So he had a different kind of strength on his side than actual physical strength like the other big bads.

It is very close. Technically it is Glory but she was a god. In terms of enemies that are close to mortal I think he wins. I have never actually heard Buffy ask "how many times do I have to kill you? Ballpark figure?"
To any of her other opponents.

Illyria and Glory are the strongest for me, in the begining Caleb seems to be a a good adversary, but later he´s defeated so "easy", i think the character needed more development, he should have been introduce in the first episodes of S7

I think that it would be a toss up between Glory and Caleb, and I would definitely pay a premium price to see those two square off. Of course, if the First Evil could have somehow become corporeal, it would be far more dangerous that Caleb and Glory combined.

I dunno, Caleb was kinda dumb if you ask me. Beating Buffy unconscious and then leaving her alive for no reason, leading her to the vinyard- the location of the super-secret slayer weapon and the one place that he didn't want Buffy to go/find out about, plus just being an alround mysogonist which meant he seemed to continually underestimate what a slayer could do in a fight.

Glory seemed all round more focused and powerful. And Angelus was smarter/scarier/more sadistic.

I reckon the Turok Han could kill Caleb.

It cut Buffy up a lot more and in her final battle it took more out of her. Also Spike knocked Caleb across the room as did Angel. Buffy bounced off of the Vampires chest when she kicked it.

Glory and the Beast and Ilyria could also stomp Caleb no problem. Look at the damage the Beast did to Faith. It laughed at the Slayers power.

I think Caleb's power is a bit overrated to be honest. I reckon, Buffy, Faith and Spike could have killed him the first time if it wasn't for all the potentials and Xander they had to look out for.

I like him as a villain a lot, but he isn't the strongest, though I'd rate him as among the top 10, maybe 5 strongest villains.

Don’t Buffy and Angel just kill Caleb in the finale reasonably easily? It’s been a while since I’ve watched Season 7 because I don’t really enjoy it.

Angel got knocked out. Buffy only beat him because she had the scythe.

Yeah but doesn’t Angel knock him out, and then he gets distracted by Buffy, and then Caleb knock him out back, and then Buffy scythes him? I dunno it’s more fawlty towers than epic battle :)

**Edit**
Just watched it-Angel doesn’t get knocked out at all! He turns up as Caleb is about to kill Buffy, saves her, and then Buffy says she wants to kill Caleb herself so Angel leaves her to it, and she kills him really easily!

Ahhh you’re right..i stopped watching.
So what I said happens is what I said-then they start getting all cuddly, and then Caleb clocks Angel over the back of the head, and then Buffy kills him (again).

Been a while since I watched it. I knew Angel got hit then Buffy was fighting Caleb alone. Didn't Angel ask what happened to Caleb though?

Yeah I always thought that was proof Caleb wasn't as strong as villains like the first Turok Han, Glory, or even Adam. When Buffy or a Vamp hits all of these guys it barely hurts them. When Angel hit Caleb he KO'd him, as did Spike in the vineyard.

To answer the initial question Caleb could not have been the strongest enemy of Buffy as Caleb was an emissary of the First. Regardless of the First being corporeal or not it had way more power than Caleb.

I agree that Glory was the most powerful, but technically Buffy didn't kill most of the main villains

Season 1 - Buffy kills the Master
Season 2 - Buffy lets Spike and Drusilla leave, Willow reensoules Angelus, Buffy stabs Angel and kicks him into a hell dimension but technically he didn't die
Season 3 - Giles blows up the school and the Mayor along with it
Season 4 - Buffy, Giles, Willow, and Xander merge their essences with the First Slayer to kill Adam (Buffy's body did the killing but shared credit)
Season 5 - Giles smothers Glory/Ben to death
Season 6 - Willow kills Warren, Jonathan and Andrew flee to Mexico, Xander talks Dark Willow down from the edge
Season 7 - The First is rendered impotent by Buffy's assault on the Hellmouth but technically cannot be killed
