I didnt really follow the comics, but I rekon it was a good idea. A global population of slayer girls to help balance the demons of the world. A bit like men of letters on Supernatural, had it been more organized.
I think activating all the potential slayers was a brilliant idea.
In universe, it gave Buffy and Faith the opportunity to have a normal life and helped protect all the new slayers by ensuring that none had to fight alone ever again.
Also, it put a stake through the hearts of any Watchers that wanted to reconstitute the Council as it had been.
In the real world, activating all provides unlimited storylines for movies, tv, comics, novels and any other media available.
Good idea but terrible execution. Joss then got bored with it and pressed the reset button sending Buffy to a Coffee shop in San Francisco instead.
That actually made it worse since Buffy basically abandoned these girls and clearly didn't care that Angel had murdered a load
@NoShip I think Joss had just moved on and basically pressed a mini reset when he did. Its not the first time. After Becoming Buffy was wanted for murder, assaulting a cop and resisting arrest, that was literally all just dropped and things were back to normal in season 3.
Hell in S6 Magic is evil drugs and Willow a junkie. Yet previous seasons it has been a gay metaphor "Willow is being all wiccy living the Wiccan lifestyle" and the next season it's not a drug metaphor and apparently Willow can use spells again .
Basically he wanted his empowerment moment in Chosen even though it made no sense and was contradictory with what was being shown on screen.
But by the comics he'd got bored and moved to the next thing
Chosen would've worked better I'd it had just been those girls Buffy was talking to about giving Slayer powers and a choice rather than all the girls around the world who clearly weren't given a choice.
It depends; I'm sure that if any of the slayers had said 'thanks for the superpowers, but I don't want to spend my days fighting for my life' Buffy would've given them an option.
