I think Fred would fit in the scoobies because she is a very adaptable person. She managed to have a meaningful relationship with every AI person and boy are they different!

Also, her dynamic with Willow was amazing and I admit I would have loved to see her interact with Xander. Do you think he would develop a crush on her like almost every man on Angel?

I always felt that Fred (and Tara) were versions of Willow, in that they were 'the sweet, shy but clever girl'. We already had a Willow and once she became stronger and more confident in herself, we had new version of old Willow in Tara. I don't think the show could have born another version of Willow, and I certainly didn't want to see another version. That character was already a bit worn out for me.

One thing's for sure. If Fred had gone back to Sunnydale with Faith and Willow, she would have been a real asset to the team, with her scientific knowledge, Texas fighting spirit, and loyalty. She would almost certainly have stopped the mutiny before it ever got started.

(Just imagine a great scene, with Fred taking a page out of Travis' book at the Alamo, drawing a line on the ground with a sword, "Anyone prepared to fight to the death, under the rightful command of Buffy, cross over this line and stand with me. Anyone not willing, there's the door. Saddle up and ride out now. We don't heed quitters here.")

Plus, Kennedy would have to find a new place to sleep. Or maybe she would be one of the ones riding out. No great loss, either way.

If only you wrote Empty Places. That's the best thing I've read all week and need an entire arc.

Well, the only way to join the Scoobies is by dating one of the core three, so there's a problem.

The Scoobies did not own a massive hotel. If they rescued her from Pylea, she would become one more squatter in the Summers House.

Grumble, grumble!

I think Fred would have enjoyed an atmosphere of women for a change. She’s also pretty easy to like. And she can get along with Harmony so it’s safe to say she could have managed Willow and Anya. Add to that the fact that she’s probably smarter than any of the Scoobies and can take care of herself in the field, and I think she would have been a great asset to the gang.

Yeah Fred would have done fine with the scoobies but I agree with @Priceless (that’s right we agree sometimes!) that Tara and Fred are too similar and it’s kinda like been there and done that. I think Fred served that purpose in Angel and i don’t think the dynamic of bringing her over would have worked in the long run. But I would have liked to see a few crossovers!

Fred wouldn't have worked in the scoobies in Seasons 1-6, but she could've been useful in Season 7 and would've made a much better love interest for Willow than Kennedy. However, Season 7 would've been too late to make her a full time Scooby, Spike, Anya and Tara had to earn their places amongst the Scooby gang, Fred would've had hers handed to her just for dating Willow (so same problem as Kennedy, though Fred would've at least earned her stripes on Angel whereas Kennedy didn't earn anything and was just given a role amongst the scoobies).

Giles & Fred would've been amazing... although maybe he would be too old for her. Imagine Wesley at the thought of Fred ending up with Giles!
I would be more interested to see Giles & Lilah!

It'd definitely be a dream though to have Fred in the scoobies with Buffy, Willow, Xander, Dawn etc.. Doesn't it kind of happen in Season 10 or 11? I'm about 1/3 of the way through Season 10 now.

I suppose I'm in the minority, but Fred seems too...grown, so to speak, for the scoobies. I'm not sure what Fred's relative age was, but it's no matter because she nevertheless projects a maturity that seems to surpass the scoobies by many years in experience and age. To me she would stick out too much. Giles of course projects unsurpassed maturity but that's to be expected, he is the surrogate father figure. So if the decision fell to me I would have chosen not to include Fred on Buffy. Someone Connor's age would have been more appropriate.

Fred does have a doctorate in physics, so if she graduated from high school at age 18, she would be 22 when she got her Bachelor's, 23 with her Master's and 26 when she got her doctorate. Then she spent five years in Pylea, so she would be 31 when we first meet her and that does not account for any postdoctoral work. But she is one of the 0.0001% of the population that would have actually been safer in Sunnydale than LA.

Yes and think she would have been an asset. Giles would have appreciated her intellectual acumen the and enginuity. While it is possible Willow might see her as a rival, it is more likely that they would get along due to their similar personalities and interests. I don't think Buffy would have a problem with her, especially given her similarity to Willow and she would have the internal toughness to put up with Xander's silliness and possible romantic interest.

Considering AtS s3 tried to act as though 20-21 year old Cordelia was the older more experienced woman in comparison to lived-in-a-cave-as-a-runaway-slave-on-a-demon-dimension-for-five-years Winifred, I doubt she'd come off as too mature than the Scooby Gang who formed years earlier than the Fang Gang.

Anya was over 1,100 years old. Buffy had all of the same paranormal abilities as Angel (accelerated healing, excess strength, speed, reflexes, stamina) *and* Cordelia (visions).

Did Fred have a doctorate? I thought she was in grad school when she fell through the portal.

Fred (to Scoobies): Do y'all have some weed?
Xander: Um, Nope.
Buffy: Yes! Yes we do, but its...uh, magic weed.
Fred: You guys are the best!

I'd much prefer Fred's: 'If evil comes then we'll fight it and we'll keep on fightin' it until we whoop it!
And then everyone going 'aw, bless. Okay then, to the vineyard!'

Yeah, maybe so, but I just can't imagine any native born Texan being in a situation like that and NOT mentioning the Alamo in some manner.
