Buffy splashed water on her face. This was wrong. And she knew it. She felt horrible. She dried her face and hands and walked out of the restroom, bumping into someone who was walking down the hallway. As he rounded the corner, he turned back towards her and spoke. “Aren’t you wondering where your friends have gone, Slayer?” Then he turned and ran. Buffy suddenly realized she’d seen him before. He was one of the vampires she’d seen earlier.
She followed in the direction he’d gone. Danica was coming toward her down the corridor, but Buffy blew by her without a glance. From behind her she could hear an indignant, “That is it!” She hurried out into the crowded club, but managed to see the vamp making his way to the door. She pushed her way through and outside. She saw him up ahead – he was leading her. But she had to follow.
“Oh you have got to be kidding me.” Buffy slowed as the vampire brought her to the entrance to a cemetery. “Isn’t anyone original anymore?” Nevertheless, she went in after him. As she looked around her, he was gone, so she began to slowly weave around the headstones. She finally caught sight of him entering a mausoleum. She took a deep breath, pulled a stake from her bag, and went in after him. |
