Six Years of Buffy-Boards: Slaying Since 2002

February 2 is the anniversary of the opening of the board. In honor of our six years online, we have created a forum to reflect back on the past years. The birthday bash will last through the rest of the month, with some events we hope you will find lots of fun. I've even switched back to the very first avatar I ever had on the boards, all those years ago 😉

The lovely edb has created two very special birthday presents for us: new banners and buttons for the new Slaying Since 2002 and Taking Over the World color schemes.

The birthday celebration kicks off today with The Buffies, our board awards ceremony and afterparty.

After the awards (and once we've revived Mr. Pointy), we'll be posting lots of different threads and activities with a BB theme.

At the end of the month, I will be picking the "best" post from the birthday forum, with its poster winning a copy of the Buffy the Vampire Slayer "The Gift" manga. Everyone who posts in the birthday forum is eligible to win. (Except for me, of course.) There are no specific criteria for the winning post.

So welcome to the party! And keep your eyes peeled and your keyboards ready for lots of things to come this month.

I joined in 2005. I remember my first thread, my first avi, and everything. Also back then my name was VisionBoy. LMAO!

Lol I hear ya VG.... I joined in 2004 (despite what my profile says, I finally did look up the year! 🙂). Back when I had an underscore and no funny swirly things, ah the days!

Really though, the years have gone by insanely fast! It's hard to believe I'm going on year four here (and that the boards are on year 6! wow!). I actually don't know if I ever posted a "Check In" thread (although if I recall correctly it wasn't call "Check In" back then, may be wrong?), I can't find one here anyway so oddly enough I'm thinking I didn't ever get around to posting one! Was probably too darned shy (afraid of all the members who all seemed to know each other! lol) 😉

The boards really have grown though! Members that I remember joining are now mods and such (much deserving mods, may I add!), can remember the days when I was too perplexed by the whole shoutbox ordeal to try it out and when quick reply was just plain wierd! The heart of the forums is still the same though, still family-like (and always active, two huge reasons why I joined it in the first place!). And who could forget the introduction of the dorms (almost forgot that wasn't all that long ago!). I'll admit I was REALLY sketchy about it all at first (was afraid we were all going harry potter on the world!), but all and all I'm really glad that they were created-- so many great memories in VH! 😀

(and for the record, I take back any harry potter comments, please don't hit me! 😉)


A great idea to have the Buffies on the 2nd, I wish I could be here but sadly I'm working (grr-arg.... and lol bad jokes never change😉 ). Really looking forward to the afterparty anyway! And the month of bb-birthday will be awesome-- love the idea! Major kudos to BS and everyone else involved! 😀 :thumbs:

Even tho ive only been here for a year, its been the most awesome board ever. I love it. And thank you so much all the admins/mods who created it, and the members who make it such a great place.

I've only been here a week and I already feel at home. I love this place.

I've been here for four of those six years, and I absolutely love BB. I've made so many cool friends and had such a blast. You guys were my second forum I ever joined. 🙂

Congratulations to Buffy Summers and all the moderators, artists, authors, gamers and enthusiasts that have made the Buffy-Boards my home on the interweb for the past almost year. It's been fantastic that you guys let me ramble the way I do and I hope you keep letting me for many years to come!

Whoa, six years? Long time and still partying like it's 1999. (Or 2002....if you wanna be, you know, literal). No wonder it's still going strong though; fab board filled with ramblers like us. :-D

6 years! Wow! Awesomeness. I know I only joined last year and stuff but this place became my numero uno hangout from day one! I've got an awesome BB adoptive parent (who I sadly need to talk to more! Love ya TC, you're the awesomest!) and I've had SOOOO many laughs here in the last year. I can only imagine how it's been for you lifers!

It's hard to believe that it's been 6 years. Come to think of it I've been here for coming up 5 years this autumn (or fall for all you people across the big pond).
I have met some lovely people here (one of whom is very very very extra special to me 😉 you know who you are!) *ahem*
I have my moments where I post a whole lot and probably get on everyone's nerves.... then I have times when I don't post a lot but I always find myself coming back to this wonderful place. 🙂

6 years is a very long time.

I goined BB in 2004. I remember when I first logged in and was so cconfused. Didn't know anything until Lyri and AB guided me around.I even remember my first avatar. It was of Cordelia in the higher realm. I had a banner to match! lol I remember being sorted and annoying Buffy Summers aytleast for a few weeks because I didnt know how to do some things. BUt yea, BB is basically my second home. And like I always say, my Family!! I hope BB is still around 60 years from now. I'll be all old and wrinlkly and still log in! lol By then it'll be a Buffy: Season 20 comic and she'll be a cyborg! lol

This place feels so much like :smiliehom & I'm :happy07: to have found it so many years ago, when I needed one ! It also :graduate: me to speak a better English. :sweat:
I :love0: that it gathers 😎 people from all over the :globe: 🙂flag🙂 and has such a :grouphug: atmosphere (despite the :argue2: sometimes :silly🙂.
