Writing with me was my brother Jed, his fiancee Maurissa, and my other brother Zack. To my shock and surprise, we finished it. To my greater shock and surprise, we managed (with the help of many people I'll be praising at length soon) to drag it into preproduction (yes, just as DOLLHOUSE was given a start date two months away and all my comics were due.) And today, after a grueling week of writing everything ever while trying to be a producer, I got to start shooting. A musical.

This much I will say: It's the story of a low-rent super-villain, the hero who keeps beating him up, and the cute girl from the laundromat he's too shy to talk to. And I'm having the time of my life.

Sounds pretty cool to me... but isn't he getting a little too busy again?!? We know what the Firefly/Buffy/Angel combination did.

This sounds like it could be cute. Joss Whedon is doing a series of online musical shorts with Nathan Fillion, Felicia Day, and Neil Patrick Harris.

In the future, Joss Whedon may be best known as the creator of “Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog.”

Along with his work on the upcoming television series "Dollhouse" and all those comic books having Buffy The Vampire Slayer doing some innovative stuff, he is also the force behind a short musical series for the Internet.

The rumors started yesterday with an interview on Ain't It Cool News where Neil Patrick Harris ("How I Met Your Mother") stated "I'm doing a web short film that Joss Whedon is directing and wrote called Dr. Horrible's Sing-A-Long Blog. That's a musical about super villains and crossing my fingers for the next round of 'Dancing With The Stars.'"

Fans debated whether Harris was joking or not for several hours when Whedon himself posted a confirmation on Whedonesque.com. Whedon stated "During the strike I started writing a musical intended as a limited internet series, three episodes of approximately 10 minutes each."

Whedon created the series along with his brother Jed, Jed's fiancée Maurissa, and brother Zack. The writing has been completed and filming is to begin today.

Whedon described the musical as "the story of a low-rent super-villain, the hero who keeps beating him up, and the cute girl from the laundromat he's too shy to talk to."

This internet storytelling is very new to me.. sounds pretty fun though.
 
I sense that Felicia's gonna become very famous sooner or later. The Guild rocks and I'm pretty sure Doctor Horrible's Sing-A-Long Blog will rock, as well. I CAN'T WAIT! 😀
 
This sounds awesome. Gotta love the cast! Felicia's webshow the Guild is hilarious, Nathan is amazing, and I adore NPH he is hilarious in How I Met Your Mother and Harold and Kumar, and Joss writing another musical who could ask for more. I cannot wait for this show to come out. Have we heard anything about dates yet?

Only that filming started yesterday... or the day before... depending on what timezone you're in ;)
these three actors rock, and joss rocks, so needless to say, ill be on the lookout 😀. sounds like a pretty interesting idea, too.
 
AWESOME! great thread allycat. i cant wait. im so glad joss is finally back in full swing with writing things (dollhouse, comics, etc.). he does great work and has a huge following. it would be a shame if he didnt do something else.
 
Thats pretty cool, some pretty famous people for a web series which is cool, proper acting!

Im most looking forward to seeing Felicia, I loved her as Vi and her series the Guild is excellent!
 
Plus - the shy girl in the laundromat - she'll be great at that part. Also I believe she's studied music. I have a suspicion a musical won't be a problem for her.

Gotta like that...and that music, and the stars, and well, pretty much everything. Can't wait. Hope it doesn't cost money to enter, or some such thing. He was talking about trying to find a way to monetize it. I'm hoping he means advertising.
 
I CANNOT wait for this to come out!! I have been watching so much HIMYM lately and I just can't wait to see NPH again in something new! This is just really exciting!! :smile:
