What replaced Buffy and Angel for you?

I've only just got around to watching the last season of Angel, and it got me thinking. Of all the shows I've watched over the past ten years, only Buffy and Angel have actually got me so obsessivly interested that I couldn't bear to miss an episode, video or DVD. I even started buying books, TV guides, games and T-shits for the series, and of course I spent many hours on the net on boards like these.

Now that they have both gone, I was wondering what shows, if any, have replaced them in your hearts and minds? For me, it has to be Battlestar Galactica and Alias, but I'll aways have a soft spot for Buffy and Angel.

hmm I was only really getting into the buffyverse during the fifth season of Angel, as of right now the Buffyverse is how you say, is, "what replaced" the other show that I was into, which I was and still am into. The only thing I hold higher than the buffyverse, FarScape. But shows that I have to watch weekly that still air currently are, Lost, Arrested Development, and BSG (G/S shippy squee!)
 
Buffy and Angel will always been in my heart, but the replacements are Lost, Gilmore Girls, and Veronica Mars. Can't miss an episode of them!

nothings really replaced it cause i'm still obsessed with both shows and aint with anything else... i do watch charmed, and 7th heaven and stuff and i'm starting to really get into but havent' yet
 
I think Desperate Housewives is the closest. Its not like I get the merchandise (if there is any) but I can't miss an episode.
 
there are other good shows...but...b and a were b and a....simple as that...you don't see me going on other message boards...

I started watching the daycare channel, its mostly the same with all the biting and crying.

oh yeah and Carnivale.

oo i've hearda carnivale is good, thinking of buying the dvd, since they haven't aired it here yet ;) so COOL!
Well I started watching Charmed when buffy and angel finished and am now completely obsessed. I still watch my buffy and angel vids and dvds but i watch every episode of charmed that comes on tele too. I think it was the supernatural link that interested me and the fact that there were strong women in the lead role just like buffy. I still miss buffy and angel but at least i have something else to occupy my time too.
 
I'm a pretty new fan, have only been one for about a year and a half, but... Honestly, nothing replaced Buffy and Angel and I actually know that nothing ever will. I know there's no TV show nearly as perfect for me as BtVS, that's a fact.

But, after I had seen BtVS a couple of times, and Angel too I guess, I have started to watch a lot more TV shows. Since I just can't keep watching my favorite shows over and over again every day. (Don't get me wrong, I do that a lot, just not all the time, like I did in the beginning.) So now I watch a lot of TV shows, like: Desperate Housewives, The OC, The L Word, Sex and the City, Dark Angel, (Six Feet Under, Tru Calling, Gilmore Girls.. and I recently re-discovered Ally McBeal, totally love that show)... and oh, since three days ago, Firefly!
 
Depressingly, nothing has replaced them. In fact, I have many gaping holes because nothing has replaced Farscape either. I had high hopes for Wonderfalls and Firefly but... meh. The only show right now that comes close is Lost for me. Here's hoping some new cult shows spring up soon - I have high hopes for Supernatural and Veronica Mars.
 
hmm Buffy is a tad too mainstream to be really considered Cult LOL.

LOSt is my replacement also, and Battlestar Galactica after 10 episodes has proven itself to be more Trek then any of the Trek spin offs since Deep Space Nine.

i was sad to see ENT go just as it found its feet but BSG is more then a worthy replacement Ron Moore ROCK ON !
 
Well i'm way behind all you people, since only now i can see Ats season 2 on cable, but other then that only Lost made me like a show as mutch.
 
Nothing can replace Buffy and Angel, Buffy was the first show I ever really got into. But the shows that i've rated unmissable and have had me thinking about what is going to happen next is Veronica Mars, and Lost.
 
What's replaced Buffy and Angel? Nothing. The big "0". I pretty much stopped watching television after Angel got cancelled.

I personally see no point anymore in becoming interested in a show only to have it unjudiciously cancelled, and be left sitting there with nothing but a bevy of shyte "reality" shows that seem to spawn, and THRIVE, like roaches.

I especially stay away from FOX with there "no judge, no jury, no appeal, no parole" fashion of removing good and POTENTIALLY good shows from their lineups. I mean really, FOX's new shows have a life expectancy of ten minutes, and it's really gotten quite annoying.

Perhaps eventually I might try a new show somewhere. But for right now, I'm not buying what these idiot networks are selling.

*clapping my hands of*!!! so well said hon! so well said... Fox is so freaking annoying, the shows that live past 10 mins pretty much su ck and the ones who don't, well whats the point of watching them??? and those realitys; urgh!
After Buffy and Angel I moved onto comedy. I especially love Will & Grace and Friends. Oh, and most recently; Desperate Housewives 🙂
 
It has to be Dr Who at the moment but I did enjoy Galactica when it was shown. I'm looking forward to Lost and I may investigate Veronica Mars when it airs here, given that a few of you whose opinions I respect have been singing its praises. I'd also like to see Carnivale if I get the chance. However, the main thing that replaced Buffy and Angel here at Pointy Towers were Buffy and Angel re-runs 😉
 
I've never been so into a show as I am too Buffy and Angel, before I watched Buffy I didn't think I could get this obsessed with a show.. When I had watched all of BtVS and Ats for the first time I felt so empty and didn't want to watch anything else, so I just watched episodes over and over again. Now I have found some other shows to watch; (but not a single one of them I consider to be anything like BtVS and Ats) Dead like me, Desperate Housewives, Gilmore Girls, Lost and Firefly.

Dr. Who is being pre-empted this week where I am by election results. Doesn't that just capitalize the S in Sucks? It will be the one after the Dalek episode. Was that any good?

And didn't I read somewhere that Carnivale is being cancelled?

The Who ep in question (The Long Game) is a very good one in the traditional Who mode. More of a hard sci-fi feel to it. Simon Pegg (Shaun of the Dead, Spaced) makes a very good villain for a comedy actor 🙂 One of my work colleagues in our little SF Fanboy Corner reckons it the best so far but I'm still sticking with "Dalek". However, the latest ep (featuring Rose's father and a time paradox - you've gotta love them 🙂) runs it close...

As for Carnivale, I read in Dreamwatch that it is to be cancelled after the second season...and I still haven't seen an ep...nor one of Wonderfalls...🙁
