So what's the story on Wicca and BTVS/ATS. How accurate are the series in the depictions of "the craft". How important is it they remain true to Wicca beliefs?

I am absolutely no expert, but I know a little(Like tiny trace amounts)

Well obviously the whole spell thing is done on Buffy for the cinematic effect, Whereas Spells in real life would be very similar to a prayer in the christian belief, you wouldn't look for an effect straight away.
One thing the show does kinda well is the whole Wicca law, (Something like "Whatever you do comes back three fold) Allot of the spells willow cast for her own personal gain did comeback and bite her in the ass, like the one from something Blue, to have her will done, or the whole of season 6, for the first half she was using magick for nothing but personal gain and in the end it really took a bite outta her.
They also don't conform to any of the Wicca laws they seem to pick the best ones from wherever they want, Which is actually allowed it something like 'Electic' Witchcraft, or some word that begins with 'E', Where the practitioner is allowed to pretty much make there own form of the Wiccan laws by picking which ones to believe.
They have used crystals to enhance their spells on the show, this is also true.
The closest Willow came, I think, To the more modern form of Wicca is when she came back in Season 7, and was very "It's all connected" and with the meditation, especially for healing.

Well actually the only thing that bothered me was that Willow played around in dark magic, and in reality wiccan's shy away from the dark magic, and hecate, also wiccans worship mother nature. Other than that really, the legends and the background, Joss did really good with them.
