The Sarah Connor Chronicles is an American television series that is set to premiere on the Fox Network in 2007. It will revolve around the life of Sarah Connor, and her son, John Connor, during the time between Terminator 2: Judgment Day and Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines.

The pilot will be directed by David Nutter and the screenwriter is Josh Friedman. Andrew Vajna and Mario Kassar will serve as executive producers, with C2 senior vice president of development James Middleton also producing.

The series will be filmed in New Mexico.

Sarah Connor formerly played by Linda Hamilton in T1 and T2 will be played by Lena Headey.

John Connor, formerly played by Edward Furlong (Terminator 2), Michael Edwards (Terminator 2) and Nick Stahl (Terminator 3) will be played by Thomas Dekker.

I just don't think she is that great an actress and I definitely don't find her attractive.
There is nothing in that package that 'floats my boat'.

I understand I may get a slew of neg Karma but I don't mind on this one.

Summer ir HOT! And I also think she can act. Really glad she got the part.
I hear ya. I can't really tell how good she is/may become. There's not much natural theatricality or "presence" about her. I think she emotes fairly well...pretty good with the emotional breakdown.

I don't know what her character's gonna be, but I hope she gets a chance to kick some ass. It's cool to have someone that graceful in a fight scene...

Serenity Comes to Sarah Connor
Firefly veteran Summer Glau joins the Terminator TV project, but who is she playing?

February 8, 2007 - Yesterday we spoke to Summer Glau for an interview for IGN TV that will be appearing on our site early next week. The actress, currently appearing on The Unit and best known for her role as River Tam in Joss Whedon's Firefly and its film sequel Serenity apologized for being, "a little bit blurry," noting that she was in the midst of shooting a pilot and had been up until five or six in the morning shooting that morning. "But it was fun! We were doing fun stuff," she added, saying, "I'm really excited about it. I think it's going to be awesome. I'm having a wonderful time."

When we pressed for details on what the pilot was, Glau replied, "Well, I'm not supposed to say yet. It's supposed to be a surprise. But it's killing me, because they've announced some of the other characters, but I'm not supposed to say. My character is a surprise." However, she did tell us the pilot was for FOX.

Immediately we couldn't help think that she was likely referring to The Sarah Connor Chronicles. The Terminator spinoff was set to shoot about now, and the mentions Glau made of working on a FOX pilot with action elements fit the bill.

Well as it turns out, we've discovered that last week Variety did indeed note, in the midst of a pilot update piece, that Glau is part of the cast of The Sarah Connor Chronicles, so what project she is working on can be laid to rest. However, this begs the question of what character she is playing, and why the need for secrecy, when they've announced other actors and the characters they play, such as Thomas Dekker as John Connor and Lena Headey in the title role as Sarah.

Given Glau's very impressive background doing fight scenes, and the fact that she played something of a programmed killer in Serenity, our minds have started to wander"¦ and we can't help think, what would a Sarah Connor story be, without a Terminator in the midst? This is just our speculation mind you, and Glau could be playing any number of characters the Connor family encounters. Assuming The Sarah Connor Chronicles is picked up, we will hopefully find out the secret of Glau's role in the coming months.

Hope she gets a chance to do some more of her fight ballet. That stuff is special.
 
This show...ugh. I don't want it to be picked up at all, I have no interest in watching something based on those movies. I do like the sound of the cast but FOX has too many other pilots in production that sound WAY more interesting this. And if it does get picked up, it needs a better name.

Headey Reveals Connor Chronicles

Lena Headey, who stars in the the Fox SF drama pilot The Sarah Connor Chronicles, told SCI FI Wire that the show will begin with a confrontation between Headey's title character; her son, John Connor (Heroes' Thomas Dekker); and two new Terminators: a female model, played by Serenity's Summer Glau, and a male one, which she called Cromartie, played by Owain Yeoman. One is good and one is bad; she didn't say which is which. (Glau's character is named Cameron, an apparent nod to Terminator franchise creator James Cameron.)

The pilot, which picks up the story from the end of the feature film Terminator 2: Judgment Day, begins in the desert, and "it ends with them landing in L.A., having run and escaped. Or maybe not," Headey said in an interview at WonderCon in San Francisco on March 3.

"We just finished [shooting]," Headey (300) said. "We were in Albuquerque [N.M.] for a month. And it was very intense, because TV is crazy. I mean, it's long days. It's like boom, boom, boom. You don't get any respite. But ... I think it's going to be great. I don't know if its going to be picked up, because it's only in pilot stage right now. But I learned to shoot many weapons and how to recognize a Terminator. So it was a good experience."

Huh. Did you guys watch the trailer? Makes it look like Summer's gonna be the Arnold character from T2 - the friendly terminator. Lena Headey seems alright, but she doesn't have that psychotic intensity that Linda Hamilton had. How are they gonna build a whole series around this...
 
I think the big hurdle they've got to jump is the immediate connection people make with the original actors. They're icons. You've got a buffed up Linda Hamilton kicking ass and taking names, then how do you out-Arnold Arnold?

If the writing is monstrous clever they might have a chance, but I didn't see any evidence of that in the clip.

I'll still watch it for as long as I can tolerate it for Summer though. Again, hope she gets to do some action stuff.
 
Hm I dunno if this will be great but I'm really looking forward to it anyhow. I kind of love Lena Headey, and well, Summer of course, so yeah, anything will be worth it, kinda..
 
It looks like it's going to be a mid-season replacement.

Fox announced May 18 that it will wait until next January to premiere the Terminator-inspired drama The Sarah Connor Chronicles, which will air Sundays at 9 p.m. Fox entertainment president Peter Ligouri made the announcement at the network's up-front presentation for advertisers in New York, and noted that the series will air in the timeslot once dominated by The X-Files. Chronicles will air uninterrupted until the end of the season in May. Based on the characters introduced in the Terminator films, the series stars Lena Headey in the title role and Thomas Dekker as her son, John Connor, the future leader of the human rebellion against an army of machines.

That bit about getting X Files old timeslot, isn't that just a nice way of saying they're going to kill it in the Friday night death slot?

I'm not optimistic about seeing a lot of episodes of this one.
 
Here's the second page of interview with Summer concerning her role TSCC. This is starting to sound like it's going to be worth a watch.

GN TV: In the pilot, your character is sort of undercover as a high school student, right?

Glau: Yes. Yes, I'm still playing high school! [Laughs]

IGN TV: But now you're playing someone only pretending to be in high school.

Glau: True! True enough. It's really fun. We had a great time.

IGN TV: Obviously you've had a lot of action scenes in the past, especially in Serenity. Were you able to call on some of the same skills here?

Glau: Yes. You know, from being a ballet dancer, there's something about it --Getting your adrenalin going on set. Getting your heart pumping. Getting physical - that really is satisfying for me. I loved it. And that was my favorite day on set. My favorite day of the shoot was when I got to do my big fight scene with Owain [Yeoman], who's also in the pilot.

IGN TV: Can you talk at all about what the central plotline will be? Will Owain always be the bad guy, or are there other threats coming at you guys?

Glau: Well you would have to ask that man there [pointing across room]. He's one of our executive producers and he wrote the pilot. He created this whole thing and we keep trying to get him to give us secrets, but we're shot down.

IGN TV: So from the clips I saw, it looks like you have a fight scene while you're naked?

Glau: [Laughs] Can you believe it was snowing outside too?! We were in Albuquerque and I'd never been so cold in my life. I had three different night shoots where I had to be naked.

IGN TV: You're kidding.

Glau: Three different nights where it was snowing and it was night shoots, so it was all night long. So I wasn't very happy about that, but actually, I saw parts of it and it looked pretty cool.

Glau: That's what I've heard, but I haven't heard anything definite yet. I'm still doing The 4400 right now too.

Glau: Yes, yes. I'm doing more 4400's.

IGN TV: That's great. Do you know how many episodes we might see you on?

Glau: It's supposed to be four. I've already shot one and I have four more.

IGN TV: What episode will you show up on for that?

Glau: I'm in the opener; the premiere. And then I'm slated to be in the last four. We'll see. You know, it depends on what happens with [Sarah Connor]. But I'd love to go back. I love that show.

IGN TV: So you'd consider yourself fully immersed in the sci-fi world at this point?

Glau: I think so! Science fiction's been so good to me.


The Sarah Connor Chronicles premieres in early 2008 on FOX.

Hey, man, I know exactly what you mean. A few years ago, they tried to have this show based on this absolutely TERRIBLE movie that I had seen awhile before that. I think they called it "Buffy, The Vampire Slayer," or some such. Now, I ask you, who could possibly watch such a lame show, and if they did, who would admit it?

(Just funnin' you, friend, but at least give it a chance. You might like it. One thing's for sure, no matter how it turns out, it'll beat the hell out of any reality show out there.)
 
This may be nasty, but I have to honest. Even if that series does suck I'll sit through the whole thing waiting for this scene mentioned in the Summer Glau interview quoted earlier.

Slight difference, this 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer' was a pretty poor film not truly recognised and nowhere near the original concept of the person who made it, leading to him being truly disappointed.

The Terminator films are a huge franchise. The first two are, without doubt, two of the greatest films of the genre. They were not only commercially successful but indeed critically.
T3 shows you that sometimes its best to leave things alone.

I'm not excited about this at all, infact I think i'd prefer to watch Spiderman 3 again(what the funk was that film!?!?!!?) then sit through this.
 
Now this is interesting. It turns out this show might actually be good. The Futon critic has seen the pilot.

What works: To the show's credit, the producers have found a very clever way to bottle up the events of the third "Terminator" film (in which Sarah has died of leukemia) and - once the show is finished - reopen said bottle so the series doesn't conflict with the films. And while it takes a little bit of technobabble gobbledygook to get there, the feeling established at the end of the pilot is one that's fresh, new and (thankfully) unteathered by future continuity. In terms of the actors, you probably couldn't do better than Headey and Dekker. Both do a yeoman's job of easing into their iconic roles, but still obviously take some getting used to. The real prize here though is director David Nutter, who continues to prove why he has the "magic touch" on the pilots he works on. Everything just looks and plays like a feature film and there's nothing here that says this couldn't have worked on the big screen. Previous fans of the franchise will also find plenty to squeal in excitement about - whether it be the closing moments set to Brad Fidel's score, Sarah's narration over a tracking shot of the open road (a la the end of "T2"), more eye rolling Terminator "one liners," POV shots from the Terminator's HUD or just the general feeling of respect for the previous films. I must confess this was way better than I was expecting.
