ALIENS OR VAMPIRES

Part 1

The head librarian had been moved to the school that had been attacked by many demons of various kinds, so when the alert was started at the school he was put in charge with all the dealings with experts.

All seemed to be going well until the newspaper got wind of the happening, what was a worrying event for the people arranging the display became a major disaster when the journalist from the local newspaper deliberately made matters worse though it wasn’t his intention to.

It was just that he was concerned with how many extra readers the paper would get dependent on how shocking the headline to his article would be. He need not have worried as it was on the front page of the next issue.

Dr. Christine Rudyard and Dr. Michael Cornworthy had started the day in their office preparing for what they needed to do. The first issue for the day, was that a crop circle had been found and a Geologists team had reported some strange underground readings

And who it was who had been teaching those school children who had a perceived learning deficiency. Nearly all of the children that they taught needed lessons on how to learn how to read and write. They were also taught how to read the night sky.

Only the last girl who was taught by them needed to be taught other than special learning techniques, her name was Katherine she was taught how to store the knowledge she learnt and how she could recall it at will. Then she was taught some of the night sky.

The school found out when it had a display of how and where children were taught during the previous hundred and twenty years. At the display for those who arranged the display of the photographs a child’s mother and grandmother recognized who taught them to read and write.

The headline of the local newspaper asked if it was aliens or vampires who had been at the school. Dr. Rudyard said they had been asked to verify if any truth was in the headline. Dr. Rudyard’s colleague Dr. Cornworthy drove the car to the school.

Thankfully the weather was neither too hot nor too cold on the journey as they had to stop for a phone call near the waste disposal plant at the top of a hill. Dr. Rudyard answered the mobile phone, then turned on the external speaker for Dr. Cornworthy to hear their boss Mr. Robinson.

Mr. Robinson had been given an update about the crop circle had been found the north side of the main road. A helicopter had been sent to them it was to land in a field not far from the off road motorcycle track.

The pilot of the helicopter was waiting for them when they arrived as they got on the helicopter the pilot said he was intrigued to see it as it was the first one he had ever been to. After they had been flying for eight minutes the pilot said they should be over the crop circle in a minute or so.

They were flying at about twice the height of the trees, permission had been granted for them to fly so low. The doctors began to check that each one of the cameras was ready, the side doors of the helicopter were opened just before the pilot announced the crop circle was in the next field.

As they flew over the design Dr. Cornworthy stated that he could see the line of twenty circles the last circle had a diagram of the border of a country, with a small circle inside it several photographs were taken to show other people.

The pilot announced that he would have to leave soon so he took them back to their car. Soon they were on the route to the school and after another thirty minutes they reached the town as
they drove the car into the school car park the librarian, Rupert Giles went to meet them.

As Dr. Rudyard and Dr. Cornworthy got out of the car to meet the woman from the school, Miss Dawson welcomed them to the town. “Hello what brings you here?” asked Mr. Giles. Dr. Rudyard replied that they had been sent to investigate the validity of the newspaper headline.

Giles as he preferred to be known as led them towards the schools main entrance. He told them he had started the display although it was the children who did all the actual work. But it was the newspaper that caused the fuss they asked if the children’s tutors were aliens or vampires.

Once the headline hit the stands it caused a lot of problems, a lot of children became too afraid to go out alone that includes coming to school. Giles said he invited some people he knew to help the children be at terms but many children from the school were still being truant.

The children were not truant because they wanted to not go to school but because they are afraid to go to the school, Giles said he hoped his friends would help. Dr. Rudyard informed him that she and her colleague were from SETI.

“Also, and I realize this may not be what they want to hear but we both did our doctorates in occult studies so either way they should be able to help,” said Dr. Rudyard. “It should help the children who are too scared to go out at night for fear of vampires,” said Mr. Giles.

Giles invited them to look at the photographs which both of them did, they looked at different partitions but it wasn’t until Dr. Rudyard looked at the last which showed who had built the sandpit for the kindergarten.

Then she pointed to the man, she said was either the alien or the vampire. “About that man in the photograph, he appears to be with two others a man and a woman, if you look at the other photographs they are in those photographs as well.”

Giles looked at the photographs he hadn’t noticed that there was three of them in, “There is nothing to say if they are aliens or vampires. He had been joined by those he had said about, Buffy and Willow.

“There is one I know of who was taught to read and write by them so I hope she will be able to say if they are vampires or aliens, although as you say saying who is what would be difficult to say until it is too late to escape,” said Mr. Giles.

He suggested they stay at the school until the one she had spoken off had got there then they should go in search of where they lived, hopefully there was a clue of what type of creature it was.

Giles said he would invite a few of the children who had made the display along with his friends Buffy and Willow to join them on the search to find where they lived. He said they would be useful to carry much of their equipment.

Dr. Rudyard said she had been in contact with a group that dealt with the occult in one form or another she said she would give them a call to see if one of them could be assigned to help with declaring what type of creature it was.

Giles looked to them, “What about you?” Dr. Cornworthy said they would like to but they were mainly concerned with any intelligence from another planet that it was only their private views that liked to see other than alien contact.

Clambering into the mini bus, the children being sat on the front few rows of seats kept a watch on the condition of road.

ALIENS OR VAMPIRES

Part 2

One of the children who had added the finishing touches to the display said she knew the road was and where it went to but she wanted Giles to tell her where. “They left wheel marks on the road, from the metal rings on the wooden wheels.

Even though neither they nor the wagon have been seen for several weeks the wheel marks are still visible on the road.” They follow the lines of the wheel marks on the road through the town under the railway bridge then just before the bridge over the river the marks veer an unmade track.

The wheel marks appeared like ruts on the compacted gravel until they ceased to be. To the side of where they were there appeared to be a line of five trees, on closer inspection Giles found then to be holograms; he walked straight through them.

Once they had all passed the trees they found more wheel ruts and the marks of the horses hooves going into a cave. The group followed them into the cave, one of the school children, Sammy, fetched a six volt torch for each of them.

The other school children, Alissa, Martin and Graham with Katherine go into the cave. Alissa stated she could see where the hoof marks where they went into the wall. Martin laughed but his laugh was cut short as he fell into an entrance that was concealed by the wall of the cave.

Giles shone his torch light along the side wall to try and see where Martin was but no one could see him, then Martin moved his hand through the rock into the cave. “I am in here,” said Martin.
“I fell through the rock it was like those trees, now I am in a passage.”

As they all step through the false rock they wander along the passage, the lights turn on ahead of them. Giles held his hand against the side of the passage he was curious at finding there was no moisture on the rocks or resistance when he swept his hand its surface.

Everyone kept behind him as they ventured deeper along the passage then into another cave, like the passage the lights began to turn around the cave. Dr. Rudyard peeled back a curtain that covered a whiteboard and several bookshelves. The books were all about earth’s resources.

Beside the shelves was a writing desk with a computer set up on it. Katherine sat at the computer then started to operate it. “Some of this computer parts are quite new,” she said. “So?” replied Martin. Katherine looked to him “What I meant was that they are still using this place.”

Dr. Cornworthy looked at the books, with them were exercise books that contained their writings. Giles looked back along the passage, he said about a large boulder on the floor of the passage, going back to investigate Katherine said that was where she was taught to read and write.

Katherine told them that they often let her read from the computer, she went to the pages they had shown her Dr. Rudyard perused the pages she went to then admitted she didn’t know where that cluster of stars were, Katherine said it was near a supposed black hole.

Dr. Cornworthy went to the computer and helped Katherine to operate the computer. Graham had been looking on the bookshelves at the exercise books. “I have book here that were bought and half as many exercise books.”

“All the published books state about the various way of gaining power. Solar Power, Hydro Power, Wave Power, Wind Power, there are ways to make perpetual motion machines that generate power,” said Dr. Cornworthy.

“Take a look at this book then,” said Dr. Rudyard, “it is about the henge that is Stonehenge, it states it is the second one there, and it describes how to replace the energy source of the henge, and how often. It even says where to get the stone from: Pembrokeshire.”

Giles looked around he looked at the electrical cables on the walls, three of the four walls had ground level wall sockets except for the end wall, the cables there had cables across the top of the wall.

Katherine looked at the wall but she said she was trying to remember what the story was with the wall. “The way the electrical cables keep to the edges, anyone would think there was nothing there, just like the other holograms,” said Katherine.

She stepped closer to the wall, gently pressing on each rock that she could see, then she noticed that one rock had a different finish to it, Katherine attempted to press that rock but the whole wall vanished. Before them was a cavern, they all walked into it and lights turned on.

About to move forward Giles found the body of a dead alien, he asked Dr. Cornworthy if he would give him a hand to carry it outside. He helped carry it outside into the sunlight, they put it on the ground on looked at it. “I’m sure I’ve seen these aliens before,” said Dr. Cornworthy.

“You have and in many places, as cave paintings as sculpted on temples throughout the world,
and in films television programs like Stargate SG1. Strange that they took the likeness from real life and then real life took the likeness from films.” said Giles.

Alissa had gone to join them when she found her way to them. “Excuse me?’ she asked “But why would you position the alien to look like that?” Giles and Dr. Cornworthy turned to look at the alien then to Alissa. “Don’t blame yourselves, I did,” said the alien in a computerized voice.

They faced the alien who continued to look at them. “You may not be aware just yet but I am one of their robots, I ran out of power I doubt if you meant to but taking my head off allows the sun to get to my power cells,” said the alien, its computerized voice had them listen intently.

Dr. Cornworthy looked to the alien as it replied to itself. “I can guess what you want to know, inside my neck are pick-ups to attract solar energy, they are my back up units my whole body can take power from the sun.

“Now that I am fully charged shall we go back inside, I dare say more questions will needs answers,” said the Alien. When they entered the cave the others were surprised to see an alien and such a small alien.

“I have a question before anyone else, why are you here, do you have any contact with your world and how long will it take them to get here?” Asked Dr. Rudyard. The alien robot looked at her then told her that he had been here for several thousand years.

Originally the aliens searched the plants but lately it had arranged for humans to be taken to new world. “When you say taken to new world do you mean abducted? Do you know that many of those who are left are accused of murdering the missing,” said Giles.

The robot faced her he said that when the leader joined them she would put the matter right. “When she joins, is she near?” asked Giles. The alien looked at her and said who saw the crop circles, tell them to say what the design of the last circle is.”

The robotic alien asked Dr. Rudyard how Mr. Giles was meant to know the difference between an alien or a vampire. Mr. Giles said of his friend Buffy. “She can be very helpful as she seems to know when they are about.”

In the cave the robot looked at the whiteboard, it drew a large circle then pointed down. It then drew a smaller circle, Giles looked at the circles, he looked and asked if they were of the earth and the moon and if so why were they drawn on the whiteboard?

The alien faced Giles, the alien said it wanted to relay how a message was sent where it was sent to and what sort of force the robot expected to be there. Giles was grateful to the alien but he wanted to know why the alien had done that.

ALIENS OR VAMPIRES

Part 3

The alien told him he needed to prepare himself for when the army got there, Buffy asked the alien that she wanted to know about them. Willow was more interested to know why Stonehenge was so important to them. Giles was interested to know why the name of vampire had been used.

The robot told Buffy the vampires kind had first been made when a group of the aliens had first created a clone, the clone was what would be the squad of vampires. That group of leaders made another group of leaders, robots had been tried then clones used created.

The robot said the clone was thought a failure but after years of trying it was decided to keep a few dozen of them. They had taken to making copies of themselves but the copies proved to be to good. It was decided to have a soldier than knew about its victim.

The leaders opted to seek soldiers who could learn of its victim and retain the knowledge for when they wanted to know about the enemy. The group of soldiers was called Vampires, the robot told Willow that one like it had built the version of Stonehenge that is.

Another version was built though it was decided the army would return here several times so a beacon had to be built in to the structure so that any craft leaving their world would have a directional signal to follow, the crop circle told them exactly where on to planet to go.

The robot said any message could travel quickly from wherever to the destination, their messages were all sent by thought and as such thought would travel directly. Human messages were sent on radio waves.

For a human to send a message to the other side of the moon you would need to bounce the message from one satellite to another whereas we use thought wave that go directly from here to the other side of the moon.

Should the message need to go to our home world the message would get there in the same time as it’d take to reach the moon. The robot looked to Giles, “And no it makes no difference about the black hole near the planet.”

Giles stated that any message would deviate the closer it got to the Black Hole. The robot agreed but what you know of as a Black Hole is what we put there to make our enemies think twice before attacking us, the Black Hole is the end of an Einstein Rosen Bridge.

Katherine looked to her in awe, “Your people built a wormhole?” The robot grinned, “just the end.” A bright light began to become visible on the wall of the cavern. The light grew brighter until a section of the earth fell to the ground, another being walked towards them.

Giles looked at the figure then at the robot, “Who is that, is he from the same planet as you and if so is he part of your army?” asked Giles. A voice from the dark annerved him, “I’m Anna Thena I am a woman and the leader of the army.

A message was sent to us from this planet it said some of us thought the missing craft might be here.” Dr. Cornworthy wanted to know where her spacecraft was and where the missing craft is thought to be.

Anna Thena said she had been transported from her own spacecraft that she had left on the other side of the moon. She said she wanted to learn why so many craft from other worlds in the last fifty years many of their craft by planes from this planet.

Giles asked her, if she knew why the alien space craft had been attacked without provocation? Anna Thena said at that time she was unsure as all the craft had been researching the animals on the planet. Giles also asked her how she knew English so well.

Anna Thena told Giles they had travelled to the earth with no knowledge of them being made. They would test the earth’s defense’s to see if any country would attack the craft. If any country did it would need to explain its actions.

Alissa opened on of the exercise books, “Look at this it has a diagram of the river in this book, but the rivers course is different to what it is now. Where we are stood right now was once flat ground and on the other side of the river.

Anna Thena told her it was probably her missing craft, Giles looked at the light in the wall. “How big was the spacecraft?” he asked. Anna Thena looked to them she told Giles that by your earth standards it is several hundred meters high and a bit more than three kilometers round.

Big enough to have created a large crater on the ground and over time a hill could have formed over it, Anna Thena looked to it, and now there is a cavern where out vampires taught your earth children how to help other planets.

Ten of our research craft are held in the central area of each spacecraft, plus each of our craft can cater for one Million of our troops. Giles was amazed that they could carry that many, do you need a million of your troops,” asked Giles.

Anna Thena was confused by his statement then she realised where he had gone wrong, “You seem to have forgotten that I went to the moon I had six craft that is six million troops and sixty craft not counting the six craft to bring us here.”

Dr. Cornworthy was impressed at the size of the army, Anna Thena laughed at him I brought a smaller part of the army. If this world tries to be awkward the whole army will be called along with the flying craft.

The robot signaled for everyone to look at the whiteboard, two of their research craft were flying over the land. Each of the craft were unmanned and each one was watched by an invisible mothership, Anna Thena said she knew of earths plethora a countries.

Any craft that was attacked then that country would have its craft attacked. Dr. Cornworthy asked how and Anna Thena only specified the vampire squadrons would attack first she knew mass panic would be created.

Then she would capture any craft in the air Giles wanted to know what the end result would be, Anna Thena said that the planet was doomed but if the number of people on the planet was reduced some life would be allowed to remain.

Anna Thena said those who shot down any craft would be held to account and that meant the humans who flew the plane, those who gave permission for the attack and any on the ground who sought death to any on the craft as their vampire could tell them.

Giles asked what would happen to the vampire slayers on earth? Anna Thena told him that the slayer would only attack those who she knew as demon. As the vampires Anna Thena controlled were not demon but aliens she’d have nothing to fear.

And if she is willing to work with us it would go in her favour, Anna Thena asked Dr. Rudyard why she was there? To find out what was at the school aliens or vampires. Anna Thena saw the humour in what she said as the aliens at the school were of the squad the Vampires.

Dr. Rudyard also said they were to find out about a large object in the ground, Anna Thena directed her attention to the missing spaceship. “I’d suggest that is it, if you want you can take a photograph of it if you want, that’ll impress your bosses,” said Anna Thena.

Those who taught the children to read and write were members of the vampire squad. Katherine asked how they were able to teach her about reading and writing, to do numbers and read about the stars in the night sky and where they were.

Anna Thena greeted Katherine as she hadn’t realised Katherine was one of the human they had taught. We have three of the vampires teaching humans to read write do numbers and read the stars to know where they are throughout the part of the universe we send them.

Giles asked what she meant by that. Anna Thena told him that some human children had been taught so that they could be in charge of a planet to support the crops being taken for the home world. Willow asked about Stonehenge.

Anna Thena stated some of her race had been in England but they had been noticed by the human invaders, the Roman Empire. At that time aliens had themselves known as the Druids
so they could build the Stonehenge both times, that was when they learnt the basics of English.

ALIENS OR VAMPIRES

Part 4

Dr. Rudyard said that several of Anna Thena’s spacecraft had been left on the other side of the moon, she asked Anna Thena how a message could be sent to them if there if there were no satellites around the moon.

Anna Thena smiled as she answered the question. “Our messages are as thought, a thought goes to the person we want to contact regardless of if the moon is in the way. The same is so when coming to this planet, a message goes to and from Stonehenge.

Now that we are here we will offer our people a way back to our planet as if they stay they may find themselves in a war, a planetary war. It all depends on how well the humans respond to one of our craft in the atmosphere.

What if it is attacked asked Dr Cornworthy. Anna Thena breathed in deeply, she grinned to him, “Our craft is well protected as one of our spacecraft is near and will emerge to protect it.” Buffy said that each country had men who would attack rather than make friends, she saw no hope.

Willow stated that if everything was connected as she had been told then there was hope, they just had to find it. Anna Thena saw the light in Willow’s eyes. “Choose those who you want to help you and I will give you my help,” said Anna Thena.

In the rooms where Generals of armies and air forces were planning strikes on the alien spacecraft that was circling the world a woman walked from the darkness of the walls. Your earth’s defenses are no good, we had passed Jupiter before you knew of us.

Even then you didn’t know what you needed to know. The defense structure you have will not stop an attack yet you try to form an attack on our unprotected craft. The General stated that they had a debt of honour to save the world.

Willow emerged and asked them how inviting a world war that they could not win was protecting the planet. Willow said that her people had been friends with the aliens for centuries but the spacecraft had been attacked for no reason and was now a problem.

Willow said that if they attacked the craft the end would soon follow, though time would be given so that the world would know those who said they were protecting it were in fact the cause of mankind’s time on earth to be at an end.

One of the General’s asked if there was any way that the human race would survive. Willow told him that she had taken steps to ensure of the human race’s survival, hopefully that would be on the earth though if not it’d be on another planet.

The General was puzzled, Willow explained that all the world resources from the inside of the planet were complicit as being part of the planet, burning part of the planet only brought on its destruction and that was mainly needed as so many people were on the planet.

The General wanted to know how he could have stopped that, Giles didn’t think it was likely that the General could have altered the earth progression to its doom. That was the politicians who allowed computers and robot to save people from working long weeks.

The General was told that mankind had been told it could take life easy but the politicians and the religions kept calling for more people to live on the world even though the services didn’t exist to support a growing population.

Then medical advancement meant people could live for longer and the babies survived childbirth the population began to increase at a vast rate. Anna Thena stepped forward, “Then as now you try to find a way to survive.”

The General said he was glad yet he understood that their survival meant the worlds end unless they found a way to solve its problems. Anna Thena told the general that only if two thirds of the world’s population vanished from the earth could it be saved.

Willow held onto Buffy and asked her how she was in the situation again?
