Before Adam?...Not a man among us can remember

I'd love to hear theories on who we think the actual human man part of Adam was before he became patchwork demon parts of Adam the demonoid made by Maggie Walsh. I've always kind of wondered what a cool backstory for him might have been especially when we see him as a full human being in Restless for a very brief scene. Was he a soldier in the initiative that Maggie chose to become part of Adam? Was he just some random dude they stole from a morgue lol? Would love to hear everyone's thoughts!

I think he was someone in the initiative that Maggie deeply cared for. He was a bit older than the other soldier boys, so maybe he held a higher ranking, and had worked closely with Maggie for many more years.

I would agree that he was probably former Initiative, but I am less certain that it was someone Maggie cared for, unless he died and she decided to go all Six Million Dollar Demon on him. I think there is a good chance he may have been a comparatively ordinary soldier, though I would expect to be of better than average capabilities, who either volunteered or was volunteered for a "special operation."

I think Maggie cared more for her creation than the original human, especially as Adam, despite calling her "Mother", did not seem to share that caring. At least, impaling someone on your demon spike is a strange way of showing caring.

There is a comic set in the summer between graduation and college where the Mayor's ghost manages to posess several things prior to being exorcised by Willow. I think he takes one of Walsh's experiments and kills Adam with it. Make of that what you will.

My headcanon is that the pro-demon faction in CA politics had been keeping the Feds out, but the Ascension incident weaked them significantly, allowing Walsh's experiments existing small lab to be expanded by, netting her more men and more resources, and adding keeping an eye on Sunnydale to her mandates. Like Adam was her sole protector before Riley and friends were recruited and assigned to the college. But who knows.

I think it is kind of like Robo-Cop. Adam was killed in the line of duty and the Initiative decided that he could continue to serve post-mortem.

He probably held Riley's job before Riley was pulled out of Spec Ops training. I like to think Adam was rather independent and was killed by Maggie when he did not "make HER proud".

Was Adam that bad, just like Frankenstein's monster it was those who viewed it who said it was so bad. A look at those in prison will show Adam as a so - so type of person. So how does it go again, tinker tailor soldier sailor richman poorman dumbo's of the initiative or Sunnydale High principal's, 'tis a shame Maggie died so late, mind you anyone want to make an Eve?
