Buffy Angel Crossovers that never Happen

I’m currently on a Angel Re-watch, and my biggest disappointment is the lack of Crossover Events. On average there are only about a couple crossover episodes per season. So use this thread to post moments where the Angel Investigations entire team went onto Buffy, and Vice Versa. Or Characters from either series, to have a storyline that intersect between each show. For example, how would a episode of Angel meeting Dawn & helping fight Glory play out. What would happen if Cordelia went back to sunnydale for Anya & Xander’s wedding. What if Buffy & Giles go to L.A to find a potential, and team up with Angel investigations. Or a Willow & Fred team up. Or a epic 2 parter where every Angel character is on Buffy, and Buffy character is on Angel. Love to hear some fan made episode ideas from you all

I'd like to have seen the effects of Jasmine in Sunnydale, including of the Potentials (if they must be present), and the real reason so many were leaving Sunnydale, to go worship Jasmine (naturally, Buffy would be jealous of Angel with Jasmine, at least until she saw and heard Jasmine, then jealous of Jasmine with Angel, and Spike could have a similar effect). As it is, I headcanon that the Hellmouth's energies dampen Jasmine's effects (and also making the First more agitated so that its own plans are speeding up--or actually, I headcanon s7 Buffy as a "bad dream" but have to accept it to go with Angel s5).

It could've been a lot more dramatic if when the sun went out in Los Angeles that Buffy headed out there, especially upon hearing of "Faith's escape." Then Angelus can have his own "threesome" instead of just Faith. But they were on different stations and probably took a hell a lot of money, begging, sobbing, and sexual favors just to even allow Willow on Angel for just a little bit.

I kinda like the idea of Cordy in season 6, but being mature Vision girl could make her especially annoying to many in the audience, as well as adding a wild card factor (especially if they weren't sure what they were going to do with s7 yet, and I don't think they did as otherwise they'd have had a much better, and believable reason why Giles left in early 6). I expect Anya would automatically assume Cordelia was there to "steal Xander back" but could've been interesting with complications as they review how they first met in season 3, perhaps bringing the season back to characters over contrived plot points. I could say similar things about Cordy also meeting again with the Willow of s6 (with her Visions and demon nature, and gods help Willow trying a memory spell on the new Cordelia).

It's important to remember that the shows were on different networks later on. Beginning Season 6 (BtVS) and 3 (Angel) they are on UPN and the WB respectively. Networks REALLY don't like doing crossovers with other networks, so it's very rare you get them. Case in point: We didn't see Buffy and Angel's meeting after Buffy came back from Heaven.

And even for the two seasons they were together, it's important to note that salary for an actor is usually character dependent. So if you bring Angel over to Buffy for an episode, not only are you paying him for Angel, but you're almost certainly paying him the same per episode price to have him on Buffy. So if David gets $100k per episode on Angel, you're also paying him $100k to show up on an episode of Buffy, even if it's only a few minutes*.

*He could volunteer to take less but he'd have to agree to do it. Otherwise SAG rules means he gets the $100k.

I was hoping for some kind of Jasmine/The First showdown. The former power that be (supposedly anyway) that claims to want peace on earth versus the thing that gives evil its capital E who wanted to overrun the planet and become corporeal to feel as lives died in its newly made flesh hands. And in the middle is the scooby gang and AI trying to figure out how to stop both plans. Getting the scoobies take on Jasmine and her plan would have been interesting

Personally I like it that the shows don’t crossover too much.

The problem with too many crossovers is that people just start watching Angel for the Buffy episodes and not really for the show’s plot or mythology. You would see big surges in viewership, but the rest of the show would likely see dips since there hasn’t been enough time to properly establish or develop the world of Angel. Angel’s character arc also sort of requires that the show is more divorced from its parent, since the entire first season chronicles his search for purpose beyond Buffy herself.

It also makes those crossovers way more impactful. Seeing Willow on that couch in S2 hits really hard, and I don’t know if it would have been as impactful if the show was more entwined with Buffy.

I liked the subtle “crossovers” where one character would call over to the other show for information. And sometimes seeing the reaction, like in Disharmony, where we see Willow on the screen on the other end of the line from Cordelia. It was cute and reminded of the mothership.

That being said, having read the crossover books, it really could have been epic to have a story start on Buffy and end on Angel, had equal time in both shows—especially since both shows were being written and run by the same team!

Or even a special summer 2-hour tv event movie! Though with everything that happened at the end of season 5 of Buffy (Buffy’s death) and season 3 of Angel (Angel’s underwater sinking and Cordy’s ascension), that would have been hard to do, unless they established the events of the film happened before the end of the season—but then it would be expected to have plot elements thrown in— “luckily Glory’s laying low this week” or “Lorne, keep Conner upstairs, I haven’t exactly told Buffy I’m a dad yet”.

It would have been nearly impossible for this to have occurred in seasons 7/4 due to the heavily serialized nature of both series during this season.

There should have been a crossover or at least a mention of Charmed with either BTVS or ATS.

There is a TON of fanfiction that crossover BTVS and Supernatural lol

I think there might be more crossover of actors with Supernatural than there was between Buffy and Angel!

What I will say that I REALLY wanted a cross over to happen during Not Fade Away as a reunion with Buffy and Angel. I know back then Buffy already ended a year ago, but it would have been cool to actually WATCH the fight before it ended in an annoying cliffhanger! I know we have comics but still.

There is a lot of Buffy/Angel crossover fanfiction with Stargate SG1 also. I hate most of it because of being an ex Air Force person myself the fanfiction writer makes all the military look stupid and slow compared to the Scoobies.
