Buffy in episode 12 What was the plot mean to be ?

OK so Buffy was originally meant to be in Episode 12 but SMG couldn't do it amd we got Cordelia back instead.
The question then is what would've been the episode plot if SMG had come back ?
 
Roughly the same thing but just remove a few Cordy specifics and add in a few Buffy specifics and I think that would have been the episode. It would have just been Buffy reminding Angel of his fight instead of Cordy

I’d imagine even the ‘one for the road’ kiss would have been pretty much exactly the same. Obviously except Buffy wouldn’t have died after and would have just left 😂

I'm sure there would've been a scene or so with Buffy and Spike. Not much but enough to give Spuffy shippers hope and to keep watching

Honestly I wouldn’t have been surprised if they’d just had Spike off doing his own thing and conveniently not being there. Especially with it being the 100th episode I imagine the focus would have stayed on Angel and his mission

They brought him over because of his popularity and even in the comics when he didn't need to Whedon still had the whole Buffy can't choose between the 2 nonsense. He would've done at least something no matter how insincere for Spuffy fans. Same way he did in Chosen

Yes , he was just as insincere there.
He recognised both ships were popular but while endulging them because of that he still mocked them albiet snidely and not openly. He probably thought he was being clever when he did.
 
I think with Buffy, it would have been harder to write her back out again. Buffy would want to stay to help with the upcoming fight. Also, she and Angel would want to stay together for a while, at least. It would have been hard to have a good reason for her to leave, without another version of the "cookie dough" speech, and some speech from Angel about how "this isn't your fight" or something. Well, maybe the writers could come up with something brilliant, but I can't think of anything! Cordelia being able to just fade away was easier.

I also think there would have been some scene with Spike, which probably would have taken place at his apartment, since he was on the outs with W&H then, IIRC. But I would have loved to see Angel, Spike, and Buffy all in the same room together, the love triangle finally all in the same place. How violent great would that scene have been!
 
I don't know but I think it sucks that they're interchangable like that. I am a Bangel fan but I could feel them dragging it out in The Girl In Question and I imagine it would be the same if Buffy had appeared in You're Welcome. Same with Spuffy, I think every character involved in that triangle suffered for it by that point because they're just trying to pander to fans now rather than telling a real story.

David Fury said Buffy was never going to be back for that. It was meant to be Michelle Tractenberg as Dawn (though given what she's said, it's amazing they thought that she'd come back) and was replaced by Andrew but that was part of the joke that you never see Buffy.

He also said the original plans were for Sarah to do the 100th episode which she couldn't do, which angered JW but SMG had offered to do the Finale but Whedon said no as he felt that should be about the Main cast. In that I agree especially given how awful DB cameo in Chosen was only the year before

Yeah although Buffy isn't in The Girl In Question she still kind of plays a part in that episode
I know David Fury has said that the 100th episode was originally intended to feature Buffy, but it sometimes feels like an overblown internet rumour to me, because bringing Buffy in wouldn’t really make the 100th episode about Angel itself and therefore not really honor the show the way "You're Welcome" did — it would make it about Buffy. I feel like it was more an idea or a pitch that they made in the writers' room, but it never really went beyond the idea of having Buffy appear.

I also think the episode would have been very different if Buffy had appeared in it, since it would have had to follow up on “Damage” and address the Scooby Gang no longer trusting Angel. Because of that, Buffy probably would have been much more guarded and standoffish than Cordelia was in You're Welcome. I am also not sure if Lindsey would have played as big of a role in the episode since Buffy has literally no investment in him as Doyle.

I think Sarah is the bigger get, by far, and 100th episodes are important, they aren't really a thing, either. Getting a highly rated episode with an important guest star would be.

As for a plot, what plot does this episode have? Figure out what Lindsay is up do, fight the mystery monster, then Cordie checks in with everyone while Angel has his personal crisis.
