The time line? Darla had given birth in the alley.

Buffy's Children Of The Damned

Fred stared at what was in the alley,
Angel stared at them as well
what was he to do with the four screaming bundles of joy.
"They can't be thirsty already can they?" asked Fred.
Angel had been about to let a little fella suck on a little finger
taking stock of what Fred said he looked into it the little guys
mouth.
"Bugger me!" he exclaimed, "The little sod's got teeth already."

At that point Holtz stepped into the alley, Angel cradled one of
them, he looked at Holtz and smiled to the dear little one.
"Din-din's." He threw the bundle of joy to Holtz who dropped
his cross bow to catch the baby that made a few cute baby
noises. Holtz looked to it, it looked to Holtz neck then suddenly
it was on him drinking the blood from him, before Angel or
Fred could say boo the three other little dears were drinking
Holtz dry. Holtz dropped to the floor of the alley; dead.
"That was nice of him," said Angel, "Giving them a lift to the
floor like that."

(I should point out that neither Fred nor Angel would have said
Boo, it was just a figure of speech)

Lorne stuck his head into the alley from the club. "Angel! Where
is Darla! oh look, a baby! But you may have noticed the bundle
of joy." Lorne then saw the other three.
"You've got four of the little fu"¦." They bared their teeth at
Lorne. "And they are all vampires oh joy!" he faced Angel,
"With a nice new set of vampire teeth, they don't look the same
without the other teeth."

Lorne watched them, amazed as they walked to Angel.
"They can walk already!"
They held Angel's leg each saying Da-da repeatedly.
"Lorne," said Fred, "Look Angel's beginning to panic, just think
what he'll do when I tell him they are all girls." Angel's eyes
grew wide. "Fredikins dear," said Lorne, "Are they poseable?"
"As long as it isn't feeding time then yes," said Fred.
Lorne picked up each baby placing them at opposite positions
around Angel, he pointed to each one in turn saying.
"Da-da daddy-daddy."

When he had done that he held his fingers up just like he was
pretending to lead an orchestra, he pointed to each one in turn
getting quicker an quicker. "Angel they are quadrophonic, aren't
you lucky," said Lorne.
"You bastard, you're enjoying this," said Angel to Lorne.
"Angel cakes, how could you say such a thing to me." Lorne
looked to Fred.
"We'd better get them back to their new home. There is one
thing though Fred, when Angel tries to tell them the facts of
life you've got to tell me."

"I'll do my best Lorne as long as I can find you, ooh I know
what if I make a recording," said Fred.
"I don't like either of you right now," muttered Angel.
Wesley drove the car into the alley so they could all get in.
Fred and Lorne kept as still as they could as they each had
two babies asleep on them. Angel was a bit displeased, he was
feeling a bit left out, he muttered a few comments at Fred and
Lorne. "Fredikins dear the big man is a bit lonely," said Lorne.

"I know," said Fred. She gave a baby to Cordy to hold and the
other baby to Angel. Lorne gave a baby to Gunn to cuddle and
the other to Angel. Angel was suddenly as pleased as he could
be, then he heard one of the babies crying.
"It isn't this one," said Cordy.
"Nor mine," stated Gunn.
Angel looked down to each of the babies but neither of them
were crying. "Bloody hell, if that is Lorne practicing his
ventriloquism I'll, I'll."
Fred and Lorne had hysterics in the backseat.

At the hotel the babies had been taken to one of the rooms, the
little dears were leant against the pillows. All four of them, in a
line. A lovely blanket covered them up to their necks. Cordy
gave the first one a packet of blood she told her to bite it at the
top, to gently squeeze the bottom and enjoy the drink. She gave
a packet to the next one telling her to do as her sister. Handing
the third one a packet of blood she told it to bite the packet hard
at the bottom then to hold it away from her face."

Three babies bursting into laughter it sounded so cute. Cordy
quickly gave it and the next one a packet of blood each telling
them how to bite it and what to do.
"Right then from the top." Lorne began to play the piano.
He looked to Cordy. "Oh, that wasn't what you meant was it?"
Angel looked at his little darlings, his eyes began to get all
misty.
"You are all so beautiful, I know, how would you like a new
mummy I'll take you to meet Buffy, that'll be nice."

"Now that is a nice thought," said Wesley, "And on the way you
can give them names."
"Oh Angel what a lovely idea," said Fred.
"I can't wait to hear what they are," said Cordy.
Angel looked to Wesley quietly saying. "I'll get you for that."
"Yeah, nice one bro," said Gunn.
"Bloody pillocks," muttered Angel as he took them to his car.

A few hours later Angel knocked on the front door at Buffy's
house, Giles answered the door.
"Angel," Giles was very surprised, he looked at the babies.
"Look girls it is your grand daddy," said Angel trying not to grin.
Buffy came to the door to see what the commotion was, Buffy
stood in front of Angel. "Ooh babies."
"Look ars, it is your new mummy, aren't you lucky girls. And
she has got such lovely long hair to play with." All the girls
quickly clambered onto Buffy and started to cuddle her. Angel
went to Willow, he greeted her with great respect.
"Oh, and by the way Buff you might want to keep them away
from your neck at feeding time."
