Buffy’s Supernatural Belief

They arrived at five passed four that afternoon, Ryan Otis Beading had brought his family, his wife Susan with his daughter Grillian who was seventeen years old with his thirteen year old son Brian De Sineath Beading. The family was the latest inhabitant of the old Manor house in the town of Minaster. The daughter had made a friend with a local celebrity Nigel who was the son of Baron Wulpester whose family once ruled the lands that family thought they owned what people thought and woe be to anyone who thought differently.

Three days after their first meeting Nigel introduced Grillian to his father the Baron Wulpester, son of the youngest of the Minaster family. The Baron greeted Grillian as a friend he said she had an interesting name, so interesting that he was unsure how to pronounce her name. Grillian laughed she admitted to him that it had broken the ice with many strangers.

“Some folk have called me Gillian whilst others referred to me as Ger-rillian, really though I have got used to both names and neither offends me,” said Grillian.

Grillian smiles to Baron Wulpester,

“Thank you,” replied the Baron.

Nigel felt astounded, he had never heard his father react to a stranger that way.

“What is it father, why do you relate to her like that?” asked Nigel.

The Baron looked to him,

“In years gone by I lost the friendship of a young lady who was so fair, I lost her friendship because I made fun of a word she used to describe herself even though I knew not what I said nor did I understand what I said.”

“Please forgive me father but I do not understand,” said Nigel.

As his fathers father entered the room Nigel was set aghast as his the ghost of his fathers father made herself known,

“Is it you?” the ghost asked as he offered his hand to the ghost of the girl he had known.

“I never knew if she was from an age gone by or from an age yet to happen. Buffy, please tell me how should I pronounce your name?”

Buffy smiles to Nigel’s fathers father as she held his hand,

“To hold the hand of true death is by far colder than any vampires hand I have held so far in this world.”
