Here and now, I suppose.
20 years ago today, Firefly aired out of order, starting with “The Train Job”. Studio execs didn’t like the pilot, “Serenity”, so the writers had to scramble to pull a different “introductory” episode together. They wanted it to follow the pilot, if aired in order, but also introduce the characters all over again.

If I have the time, I’ll try and post in this thread for every episode’s anniversary. Maybe give some fun facts.

Has it already been 20 years? I’ve talked a lot about Firefly in my time, answered a lot of questions about it, and yet, still, I don’t have the right words to honor it. To be fair, the women were still within the traditional aged college student window, and the men had really nice hairlines.

But more importantly, it's been 19.8 years since "Save Firefly" started.
 
I recently bought the blu ray for a Christmas rewatch . I think it was already canned before the Christmas schedule 🙁 ? I saw the UK launch episode and I was utterly smitten . Still annoyed about the cancellation now 😀

Yeah, I feel like I remember them saying it was annouced shortly before thier Christmas party, so they were all bummed. I might be confusing that with something else though.

I'm not a big Firefly fan, but I do remember the TV spots for the show. Can't believe it's been twenty years, cause that makes me feel like I'm getting old. lol
 
Episode 3: "Bushwhacked" is officially 20 years old


Originally aired as episode 2, episode 3 marks the first ON SCREEN appearance of reavers/reaver carnage, which will become a large plotpoint later on, especially in Serenity (Movie). I was only referenced in conversation in the true pilot.

Me either! 20 years of tv years went so fast. Its not as dated as others of the time like Andromeda, or enterprise. I've held hope of seeing more of that world for a long time!

It’s so interesting to me that the main antagonistic threat of the Firefly universe was never really shown during the show. Budget constraints on a sci-fi show are really strict sometimes, I get that, but it still is just wild to me that they never really showed up properly until the movie.
