If Faith's was Dawn's sister

I love the idea of this AU, and if it were to come down to the "kick out of the house" circumstances, I think she would, because Faith really wouldn't have any power in that situation.
 
I would say it would depend on the circumstances. In this hypothetical is Faith demanding that a bunch on teenagers go back to the place where some of them were slaughtered because she assumed that the bad guy helpfully told her where the weapon needed to win the war is with zero proof? Was Faith distant to someone that Dawn admired after that person lost an eye following her into the previously mentioned slaughter after warning her it was a trap? Did Faith put a vampire that recently tried to assault her above everyone and claim he was the only one who had her back? Did she spend months ignoring a deadly trigger? Did Faith release said vampire from his chains and tend to him AFTER he attacked Dawn thus showing her that her “mother” was correct and that Faith wouldn’t chose her. Did Faith threaten to let the vampire kill the son of one of his former victims? Was Faith unbothered by the murder trophy jacket? Did Faith spend months alienating people by doing things such as calling a teenage suicide victim weak and stupid? Did Faith give Dawn the ultimatum that she would leave everyone high and dry in the apocalypse if she can’t be the leader?

Dawn probably would dare because if Faith is her sister, she likely feels the same way Buffy does to Dawn and so would ultimately leave.
 
The title: instant laughter from me. And yet I also love the idea. So much comedic and drama material comes to mind in mere seconds, especially if Buffy still has to protect the Key while Faith doesn't understand it (though being in prison does make it somewhat irrelevant).

But actually...taking the story at face value, then...well, no. I said yes, but now changing my mind after reading the response by KaitKat, because it makes me realize that Faith would've had to been drastically changed to be like Buffy for it to even be possible.


BUT meta-story wise, that is to get a Spuffy scene using classic tropes of two outcasts who only have each other before ascending to greatness with writers willing to break and bend characters and plot to make it happen, then no, because it wouldn't serve that purpose, and therefore that nonsensical scene wouldn't be there to mar season 7 in the first place.

I just can't get past that it's very bad writing, and part of why it was years before I gave Angel the series a chance.

The first thing I thought was, no, because Faith would have kicked Dawn out of the house the previous year when Dawn was acting bratty. I cannot see Faith putting up with that at all! This is even assuming they would have a house, which seems unlikely. A motel room, maybe.

I'm trying to think how it would be if Faith was in Buffy's position - Buffy's same life, basically, but with Faith's personality. But nah, she would still not put up with crap from Dawn, in my opinion.

I don’t know about that. Faith may have reacted differently than Buffy to “get out get out get out” which is what I’m assuming you’re talking about but if Faith had a sister I really couldn’t see her throwing her out and neglecting her after she herself was neglected by every adult in her life except maybe her first watcher. It’s also worth noting that the whole situation happened because Dawn has in so much pain from nobody paying attention to her that she summoned a vengeance demon. Faith essentially was Dawn in season three, someone always thrown to the back burner so everyone can fixate on Buffy and her problems so I could see Faith taking care not to do that to her sister.
 
The monks took Dawn, a complete stranger, and inserted her into the Summers family as a family member, rewrote history and made the Summers family love her as someone who had always been part of the family. It it was Faith's family, some things would be the same. If anyone hassled Dawn, Faith would be there, and not as diplomatically as Buffy. Anyone who attacked Dawn would end up in pain. If Faith had done all the irrational things that Buffy had done in Season 7, Dawn would still have attempted to kick her out. Whether she succeeded or not would depend on whether Faith would have been content to leave in the way Buffy was. But Faith would not have had Spike to help her through the dishonesty and judgemental attitude of the core four.
 
I think it's interesting that if the Monks had inserted a little sister into Faith's life would Faith have gone off the rails? Probably not as she would have had someone to love and care for, and she would never have been so reckless with someone to look after and would be less likely to charge in there like general custer and just stake a guy.
 
Do you think Faith would be less overprotective than Joyce & Buffy ?
I kinda feel she would which I think may be better as The Scoobies treated Dawn like she was child. Might look reckless for some but maybe Faith could have train her earlier than Buffy (early S7) & take her to stake vampires. In a world where vampires exist & living in Sunnydale, you might learn to defend yourself physically.

I feel that Faith would still be pretty protective as Dawn would literally be the only person that she had but I don’t think she would infantize her the way that Buffy sometimes does. I definitely think that Faith would teach Dawn how to protect herself as not teaching her that didn’t keep her safe. Faith and Buffy also have different life experiences before becoming a slayer, even minus the supernatural stuff I could see Faith teaching her stuff like don’t leave your drink unattended and about safe sex meanwhile Buffy dismissed a sixteen year old Dawn from the room because Willow made a sex joke.

Hopefully Faith would not have done some of the things that Buffy did to cause the scoobies to doubt her, especially where Spike was concerned
 
Yeah, I assume that Faith and Dawn would be hiding out from Glory in Mexico living the plot between Terminator movies and Giles wouldn't be able to find them. So, Season 7 would have been about Aztec Vampire Mummies, or something.
 
I seriously doubt Spike would remained intact to the end of S5.
