This is probably going to fit into a story where Faith doesn't go bad & stays in Sunnydale for the rest of the show (Replacing Spike in many ways 😉 )
Buffy & Faith are sitting on a Gravestone each, waiting for a Vampire to rise & talking about life.
"When I was young, I thought that when I graduated, I would have a house & a car, a nice husband who loved me, & two kids, a boy & a girl. Then I found out I was the Slayer & suddenly, everything changed..."
Faith didn't respond straight away. Glancing over, her face unreadable.
"You still want that? The husband & kids part?"
Buffy shrugged.
"Really don't know about the husband thing anymore. I seem to attract the wrong kinda guys."
A strange expression flickered across Faith's face for a moment before she managed to cover it.
"What about the kids though?"
After a long sigh Buffy ran a hand through her hair.
"Guess that's another thing to add to the 'never going to happen' list!"
A sudden thought made her chuckle.
"Though some would argue I'm already bringing up two kids with you & Dawnie in the house!"
Faith shot her a 'Yeah, right' look, but said nothing.
"The pair of you are always bickering over something. The TV remote, the Bathroom, the contents of the fridge. I swear it's like living with two ten-year-olds sometimes. And the amount of time you two spend playing computer games...."
Faith's smile faded & she looked down at where she was swinging her heavy boots.
"Kinda making up for lost time...." She mumbled.
"I know." Said Buffy gently. Placing a reassuring hand on Faith's shoulder.
"I never had a childhood worth shit & Little D didn't have one at all. She was, what? Fourteen when she popped into existence?"
"You both missed out on so much." Nodded Buffy sadly.
Faith suddenly frowned.
"What were those Monks thinking anyhow? Were they totally insane?"
At Buffy's questioning frown she added.
"They coulda changed this Key into anything right?"
Buffy nodded, still not sure where Faith was going with this, but glad she had moved on from thoughts of her traumatic childhood.
"They could have changed it into a pebble & dropped it on a remote beach somewhere, let the tide take it. Or changed it into a bird & let it fly free. But no, they change it into a teenager & send it to the Hellmouth....Then let slip the Slayer is now protecting it!"
She slid down from the gravestone she had been sitting on & started to pace.
"It's almost like they wanted the batshit crazy God-chick to find it!"
Although Buffy loved her sister, she had often wondered if the Monks had made the right decision sending the Key to her in human form. She went to say something, but Faith wasn't finished with her rant.
"And seriously, they could have turned their Key into absolutely anything, but the first thing they think of is a fourteen-year-old girl? Man, you gotta question where their minds was at!"
Buffy gave a wry smile.
"Yeah, I've often wondered about that." She sighed & stretched her back. "Guess we'll never know for sure. They all died trying to stop Glory from finding out what they had done..."
"Buncha dumbasses!" Muttered Faith, idly twirling her stake around in her hand.
The newly dug ground in front of them started to move, signalling that something was digging its way out.
"Looks like our friend has finally decided to show up!" Said Buffy jumping down from her gravestone & pulling out her stake.
"'Bout time!" Grated Faith, moving into position by the twitching pile of earth.
"You in a hurry for something?" Asked Buffy with a frown.
"Wanna get home before the Brat finishes the last of those chocolate cookies you made..."
As the Vampires head broke the surface & shook the dirt from its eyes, Buffy leant down & grabbed its jacket.
"Sorry to rush you but the Kids need their milk & cookies before bedtime. And I'll probably have to read them a bedtime story too!"
She wrenched the confused Vampire up out of the ground by the back of its collar just far enough for Faith to plunge her stake into its chest.
As the small cloud of dust settled over the disturbed grave the two Slayers turned for home, tucking stakes into jacket pockets as they went.
"So, what story you gonna read me then B?" Grinned Faith. "Better be 'R' rated." She added with a wink.
Short but hopefully sweet 😁
