By the time Buffy, Faith and Giles arrived on scene it had been too late, the demon had fled from the cemetery grounds. The Slayers ran to see if they could catch up with him but from what Giles could see of the broken shards of glass on the ground the curse had already been used. Surveying the area he was frighten for the lives of the others. Willow, Tara and Xander had gone on patrolling for the demonic creature that called himself Kaeo but they had truly underestimated the beast this time and possibly the last time they would get a chance.

A rush of hope came over Giles as he heard a twig snap near by, they must still be alive. "Willow? Tara..it's alright I won't hurt you..Xander?" He questioned and came around the corner of a large crypt. Suddenly from behind a tombstone a small girl with long red hair flew into Giles legs and hugged him tightly.

"Daddy you found us! The mean man said you wouldn't come but I knew you would." The little girl wearing the exact same dress Willow had been before smiled up at Giles with bright green eyes and rosy cheeks. Giles heart sank looking down into the young girls face, it was obvious to him what had happened. He sighed and leaned down putting his arms around her, petting her hair gently.

"Oh gosh." It had been as he suspected the demon had stolen their young adult bodies and reverted them back to children. "There, there Willow my darling, it will be alright I'm here." He sighed. "Now where are the other two hiding?" Little Willow smiled and grabbed Giles's sleeve tugging him towards their hiding spot.

"It's ok guys it's just my Father." She called out then beamed as she reached to help Tara up from under the hole in the large tree where both of them had hid from the monster.

The small blonde girl crept out of hiding taking Willow's hand and then frowned at the dirt she was covered in. "T-thank jumpins! Oh no I got my new pants all dirty! Aunty Buffy is going to spank me again!" She sighed dramatic and Willow put a hand on her shoulder. "I'm sure it will be ok."

"No way, she won't, I'll say it was my fault, that I pushed you or something." Xander came out of his hiding spot in the bushes fast. "Nobody messes with my best friend's, best friend." He stuck his thumb in his chest as he puffed it out. "Captain Xander saves the day again!" He jumped on top of a tomb stone then to the ground then rolled across the grass. He then bounced to his feet standing beside the girls with a grin.

"T-thank you Alex." Tara smiled shy, hair falling in her face as it did in her adult form. She was fond of the boy even if he was awkward, and no doubt was crawling with cooties, but Willow had been her best friend as long as she could remember, and that's the way she liked it. Tara and Willow both took one of Giles hands as he ushered them out of the bed of danger, Xander kept up the superhero act pretending to fly with his arms stretched out, staying close behind them.

"Alright then who's up for a round of milk and biscuits before bed?" There was a choir of "Me" as they walked to the car returning to the Summers home. Giles had sworn to protect them, he stood half thinking he had failed but all was not lost, not while the demon was still alive, hopefully his Slayer and her equal could find it before it was too late. For now though he had to suck it up and play Father, a role he already took with this lot, but now it was his turn to do so more then ever.

Soon enough Xander slept on the couch snoring loudly as Giles turned out the large light and twisted on the lamp. Tara and Willow had no issue racing to the top of the stairs to cuddle up in their room. Safe under the large burgundy blankets, that nearly swallowed them whole. Giles thought it was odd that they could remember so much about their own lives but the details had been changed drastically, but as brilliant as the three young ones were, each of them remained innocent.

Never before had they faced such a demonic creature with this kind of ability. Looking too the books he found only two very old accounts of what might have done this to them and neither gave him the answers he had wanted. The first option was that this was an ancient gypsy curse laid upon anyone who had misused scared items, which was one possibility with everything that had come into the magic shop this shipment was gypsy related.

The second option was that the creature lived by sucking the life out of humans. Giles guess had been that Willow managed to fend it off enough to stop the process before it was too late, only it left the three of them as children. The whereabouts of the creature and how to stop it remained a mystery.

"This isn't good at all." Giles closed the book sitting back in his chair holding the bridge of his nose as he spoke on the phone to Buffy telling her what had happened and the things he had learned.

"What's not good, Daddy?" A tiny voice came from the doorway. Willow was clutching the stuffed Bunny which was a present from Tara, she was dressed in one of her regular bedtime shirts only now it was enough to swallow her whole. The smaller version of Willow climbed into Giles lap as he hung up with Buffy.

"If something is the matter, you can tell me. I'm grown enough now to be told adult things. I may not understand fully but it's better then worry right?" Willow nodded and patted Giles on the shoulder before giving him a small kiss. It was evident that young Willow could sense his frustration and fear. Putting his arms around Willow Giles sighed.

"I'm afraid something very bothersome has happened here my darling, and I'm not sure if you should be told at all, but you do have a right to know. This might come as a shock to your small world, but monsters are real, and one has worked it's evil magic here on you and your little friends."

Willow looked up at him studying his face curiously as he spoke, the way his face had wrinkled let her know Giles was telling the truth. "I know something is wrong, that's why I'm not asleep." She sighed, then leaned back in his arms resting her head on his chest, gripping Giles shirt for safety.

Giles kissed the top of Willow's head, he wasn't surprised. The tiny witch had always been wise beyond her years. "I made a promise to protect you and the others, and I'll find a way to fix this lot of mess.""I'm sure you will." The sleepy child closed her eyes and dozed off to dreamland...

Chapter 2: Home

The next thing Willow knew it was morning and she woke to the sound of Tara muttering in her sleep. Worried Willow turned to face the other girl, she pulled the blankets down from the girl's face and gently shook her. "Tara? Are you ok sweetheart?" She wasn't exactly sure why she had called her friend that but she somehow knew it was right. The young blonde woke frightened, and looked at her friend with dark blue eyes, with a frown across her features. "S-scary d-dreams." She muttered.

Willow moved closer to Tara and hugged her, she knew that was the way to make the other girl feel better, she also kissed Tara's forehead. "Was it the boogey again?" Willow frowned.

"Y-yes!" Tara shivered with fear.

The redhead sighed putting her hands in the air. "If I ever see him I'm going to punch his lights out!" Willow shook her fist dramatically and grinned, both girls started to giggle.

"I-I'm so glad w-we're b-best friends W-willow." Tara sat up and patted Willow's hand, a smirk played across her lips "I-I think I s-smell breakfast, l-lets g-go!"

"Oh yay!" Willow took Tara's hand as they walked down stairs, the two had slept in compared to the other's who were already up.

"Xander no!" Anya scolded the boy as he smashed the eggs into the bowl of pancake batter, splattering egg and shells all over the place.

"I'm sorry pretty lady! I just wanted to help ya." Xander pouted and pushed his long black hair out of his face. He had refused to get his hair cut, and now standing a young boy it was covering his eyes small brown eyes.

Anya huffed as she tossed out the pancake batter but then looked down at the small version of the man she loved and sighed.

"I used to shove naughty little boys like you in the black tar pits of Malderog! But seeing who you are and all, let's just get some more ingredients and try again, ok?" She was never one for patients but this was in some way her Xander.

Xander was busy looking down at his shoes that were oddly matched, he never could find their mates so he wore them together instead. He shrugged shoving his hands in his pockets.

"Dunno what a tar pit even is but it doesn't sound swell at all." He shook his head and went to the fridge for more milk and eggs. "B-but thanks for not spankin me, my dad woulda had my goose cooked!"

Anya helped him put the milk on the counter then hugged little Xander. "Not this time baby."

Willow and Tara had just came into the kitchen at the same time as the mess was going on, they had seen what Xander had done and giggled, but what caught Willow's attention more was the sight of Dawn popping down the stairs, Buffy had told her what had happened earlier in the day when she checked in, still no news on the demon.

"DAWN!!" Willow dropped Bunny and ran into the other girl's waist hugging her tightly. Dawn was a little scared at first but she'd seen little Xander when he had jumped on her waking her up this morning, so she was still kinda spooked.

"Oh Willow...Hey." Dawn never thought she'd be taller or even older then the witch but it slightly boosted her ego that maybe for a little while Willow could look up to her.

Tara picked up Bunny then shyly came around behind Dawn and joined in a group hug effort. "G-good m-morning." She smiled.

Dawn had an arm around each of them and suddenly felt a thousand feet tall, and all the love she normally felt with them was there and then some making her feel the same amount of safety as always. "Did you two girls get anything to eat yet?" She asked concerned, it was her turn to play big sister.

"N-no, n-not yet, w-we were hoping you would j-join us?" Tara managed to get out a few words clearly, it was a miracle she got the nerve to speak at all. It had been far worse when she was a child but with the Scooby gang she knew she was with family.

Dawn nodded. "Always, I'm starving, let's hope there's tons left!" She took each of them by the hand leading into the kitchen out of the door way. Dawn helped the shorter girls sit on a chair each so they didn't have to peer over the counter in wounder.

"Morning Xander!!" Willow and Tara looked at each other and giggled as Dawn placed glasses of juice for them.

"Ayn-na helped me make eats for you all." He laughed and pointed at the plate of hot pancakes.

"Thank god it's Saturday or what would we do with these guys?" Dawn exclaimed speaking to Anya who was busy doling out food for everyone.

She shook her head. "Don't talk about it until we have the problem! I don't want some robust lady, that smells like sweaty socks coming in here and sitting on them!"

Dawn laughed. "That's not exactly what a baby sitter does but close enough, especially with you know who."

"Are you talking about me?" Xander looked up at Dawn who had just ruffled his hair, talking with his mouth full of food.

"Ohh no not at all." She smirked and finally took her own plate.

Once breakfast was over the girls had decided to get some air and go for a walk, it had been a nice enough day for the park. Xander however wanted to stay behind and help with clean up, with the motive being he got to spend more time with the pretty lady. Standing on a stool at the sink he washed a few cups but he didn't see the knife at the bottom of the soapy water and cut his finger. Blood dripped into the suds and Xander's eyes welled up with tears.

"Ooweeee!"

"What happened sweetie?" Anya ran into the room she had only brought the trash out and figured a few cups wouldn't be to much for pint sized Xander to handle.

"Cut, bad." He sniffled and showed her the wound, Anya grabbed a cloth and put pressure on it. His tears still came.

"I don't feel right." He whaled. "Nothin' is right, I dunno why! An I wanna go home, with my own Scooby pajamas and my bed!"

Anya wrapped her arms around him and kissed his head. "You'll be ok." But once he had mentioned home she froze looking down at him. Where exactly was 'home' for him now? Was he talking about his parents house? Those horrible people made most of her old friends look like Angels.

Xander looked up at her and wiped his eyes, he had a gut feeling where home was but it just sounded so crazy to his little head, and he was scared at what she would say. He put his arms around her hugging tightly, then choice to speak up. "I-I want to go home...with you An."

Anya didn't speak at first she just hugged the young version of the man she loved, then continued to tend to his cut. She found some spir man band-aid's in the cupboard and wrapped it around the cut. "All better." She smiled, then took a deep
breath reaching for his hand. "Let's go home then..."
