Welcome to the boards! This show is still attracting attention 21 years after it started because it did things no other shows had done before.
You will see the term "ship" and "shippers" which refer to relationships and supporters of these relationships respectively - that was the first thing I had to get used to on the forum. The Buffyverse includes "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and "Angel", its spinoff. You may want to interleave Angel Season 1 with Buffy Season 4 and the seasons thereafter because there are some crossovers between the shows.

I have watched them in tandem order, I got the order from a website called the watchers council. I finished them a few months ago and have felt lost ever since!
