New way to earn House Points: Episode Discussion!

I would just like to say that I really like this idea. Perhaps extra points could be awarded to the poster with a most profound thought/theory/idea/whatever regardless of the house that wins as well.....just a thought (since you guys kinda do that board-wide anyway). Like 10 extra points to the person with the best post per week as well.......

Sadly, I don't have a ton of time for watching Buffy right now (really wishing I could join in the BBtv, another great idea I think) so I don't see myself joining in that much unless I have happened to already watched the ep recently (school, work, kid, no free time). But I would like to say thanks for promoting more board interaction!

At what point did I say I was upset that the 5 points were given as a good post?

I was seriously asking you if that was your issue because of this comment:

I meant make the 50 point bonus for the post NOT the 5 point

You have TOTALLY misunderstood what I was suggesting that has nothing to do with good posts.
I'll make it clear WHAT I was suggesting in place of the initial unclear premise.
Rather than praise a house based on how many members posted in the particular discussion, the onus of the 'reward' would fall on the person who posted.
This would be basically the MODs reading the posts and deciding which, of the weekly discussions posts, was the most intelligent, profound, well written (whatever criteria you wish to use to ascertain a victor) comment within that discussion, and the 'winners' house gaining the points - Maybe even involving badges with links attached to get people to read the comments and possibly getting involved that way.
This would retain the emphasis on actual posts and discussion NOT on the amount of comments left.
So, what I REALLY am saying is that on the ORIGINAL unclear premise, the idea of post counts over post quality was rather unappealing SO I REALLY thought a better way to accomplish what you desired AND retain integrity would be to focus on the individual posts.

Not that was a very well-thought out argument that was rational and did not put anyone down. Could you please try that the first time in future?

As the actual parameters have finally been cleared up, we'll see as IF people join in this is redundant, however if it goes tits up, you have other possibilities - that lets be honest you won't consider because I am the one making the suggestion and it wouldn't be good if ideas I had were taken on board because it would look like you are endorsing everything I have said in this thread and that will never happen - right🙂

Actually I'd be happy to consider randiann's suggestion of doing both. I'm an adult and I don't have a need to prove you wrong.

I don't think your suggestion on its own will do what we are looking for, though, because a lot of people (like me) wouldn't bother because they didn't think their posts are good enough to win. Also this drives participation as a house, house comraderie etc.
