i'm writing a virtual series 8 but it needs a few episodes about the origin of the key, it has to involve the shadowmen. i was thinking that the shadowmen could have created the key because in their time there where no walls and they created the key to create the walls seperating realities which is why it has the power to break them, in other words the key locked the gates but it can open the gates. i was thinking how they could have actually made it, i was thinking that they made it from that demon dust they created the slayer from. the demon dust could be from an old one, maybe the key was created first but once all the walls where up there where still some demons in our reality so they created the slayer to fight them- the demon dust they use to create the slayer could be left over from when they created the key. i thought this would also be an extra reason for dawn and buffy being connected because both their powers originate from the same being- also it could be a reason why the monks used buffys blood to create the key because they where already connected- please tell me what you think, suggest ideas, flaws, additions to my story and basically express your views, please do so as soon as possible so i can write my story, thanks.

sorry, just asking please can you leave replies soon- i need as much help as possible, please so i can finish well more continue my story, please help me thnaks

The way Glory mde it sound, the key was older than humanity though.... more like it was a creation of the gods.

I also got that impression.

Also we have Illyria. Illyria is at least old enough to have seen the creation of man from a microbe state. I'm not up on my evolutionary theory, but doesn't that put her at least a million years before the Shadowmen.

Illyria would cross dimensions back then. This means the walls were already up.

Also a key isn't a wall. Glory says, "You're a key. You fit in a lock", not you are the walls between dimensions.

Then there's Fray. I'm hoping I'm remembering my Fray correctly, but as I recall the demons were already banished from this reality by the time of the Shadowmen. The original slayer is created to do battle with the vampires. Vampires are seen as a disease - men infected by demons.

i didnt say she was the walls, i said maybe she was used to create the walls, or at least lock them because giles said she can open the gates between realities so that must mean they could be locked if they can be unlocked- i did actually realise that the key would be older than the shaowmen but i was going to think of a way round that, so far the only idea i have is they went back in time with the key and put up the walls or someone else eated the key, maybe the PTB or maybe it was the first trying to stop beings of goodness to get in, FMI when does it say that Illyria jumped thrpugh dimensions before, maybe she had the abilitiy to but she could still have the ability even if there was no walls, its like saying a slayer cant have the power to kill vamps if there are no vamps.

Illyria's temple is in another dimension. Back in her, or his, or it's day as God King of the primordia she, he or it walked between and into many dimensions. Illyria even went to a dimension made up entirely of shrimp.

OK, I'm going to stop teasing you now. I'm going to tell you how to make your proposal of a possible Shadowman/Key connection make sense within the rules of the Buffyverse.

Here's the origin myth explained by the demon Urkonn to Fray in Fray #3

Urkonn:
There was once a thing on this Earth called magic

There were demons, monsters beyond imagination most of them pure evil.. They ruled this dimension as they did so many others.

Fray:
What's a dimension?

Urkonn:
RRRRRR...

Eventually as Mortal animals evolved under the protection of certain Mages and Loranites..

Fray:
What's a...

Urkonn:
They left! All right? The demons, most of them found more hospitable dime...places and left the earth to the mortals for the most part.

Some remained hidden away. Some bred within the human community their power weakened throughout generations. Some assimilated. And some...infected

You'll notice there were many dimensions even before man. The Mages and the Lorrenites made things so uncomfortable for the Demons they left this dimension for dimensions with easier pickens.

OK at this point you postulate the Mages and Lorrenites put up a wall between demon dimensions and this one.

Thousands perhaps hundreds of thousands of years later the Shadowmen are having a vampire problem. They need someone strong enough to battle the vampires. They need demon energy to give the first slayer that strength, but there is no demon energy to speak of in this dimension. They need to temporarily open a gateway to the demon dimesion to draw power from it. They need a key. They create one.

Here's the problem once the key is created it cannot be contained. It is not limited by the laws governing time and space. It can exist in this reality, or it can exist in Glory's with equal ease.

i like that but whose Fray and Urkon, maybe the shadowmen are descendants of the mages etc, you just dont know but thanks a lot for your help

I tell you what, there seems to be a lot of people turning up lately who are unaware of Fray. By luck, I have a lot of Fray saved to text.

I'll post a thread with the information you require, and more. Find it by clicking here: Fray and the Buffyverse
