Intro
-Before the Move-
I looked around my room for the last time, boxes scattered around. I look at the old, mossy green walls with spots where posters used to be, now bare. I even look at where the furniture was before I sold it, hoping that Sunnydale is a good change from my small, midwestern town. The town that never really liked me, or tolerated me even.
One by one I load the boxes into my car until nothing is left then I look to the house. The old stone house stands strong, a reminder of my past, of what I'm leaving behind. I get into the car and put on my favorite music with my Walkman. I prepare myself for the long drive as I look back at the house one last time. It's almost as if I'm looking for a reason to stay and try to fix things here, but I find none.
-26 Hours Later Before and During Ep. 1-
I finally arrive to Sunnydale after some grueling hours of driving alone. I head to a small motel at night to book a room for a week. I try to tell myself that it's just until I find a job and somewhere better to say. I look around the motel as I head to the desk paying for a room as the worker gets me keys. Before they give me keys they ask me "Do you know what happens in these parts?" I think for a minute "Kinda, only what I could find online. Anything I should know?" The worker waves it off and says "You should be fine, probably." Well that's just so comforting... I take the keys, suspicious of them, and head to my room.
My room is small and dingy with chipped paint and old shag carpet. I mutter to myself "This is what ya get for $20 a night." I settle in for the night with a fuzzy blanket and rest through the night, still unsettled by what the front desk worker meant. My night is filled with nightmares about fangs and blurs of a wrinkly face biting my neck. I swear I could feel the pain, it felt so real, like burning agony. I wake in a cold sweat, panicked, and breathing heavily. Thank god. I'm just having nightmares, not that it's good. I sigh and get myself some water then lay restless the rest of the night. I wonder what tomorrow holds if my first night here is filled with nightmares like this. Hopefully it can't be that bad, right? Surely I can handle whatever it is.
In the morning I wake up late and rush to get ready for my new school. I practically fall out of the door with jeans and a black tanktop on with a Walkman in my pocket and headphones around my neck. I run to the highschool clearly shocked about the amount of other kids. Holy -, I was told this was a small town... This is too chaotic.
I walk towards the front and a man with black hair runs into me with his skateboard when he gets distracted. The second I feel him collide with me, I yelp and lower my stance, falling under him. I open my mouth to talk and instead just rush away to the school accidentally leaving my Walkman. The man quickly notices and calls out to me "Hey, you forgot this" but I'm already too far to hear.
I reach Principal Flutie's office "Sorry I'm late."The man looks at me then my attendance reports, then speaks "Well your records show you as having high integrity but um..." He then goes on with a spiel about how "Here at Sunnydale we're like a big family and we don't focus on records... Even good ones." I sit gently "I hope that everything got arranged properly, it's my first year enrolling on my own." He gives my documentation a glance and says "Ah, yes, you're moving because of your parents' death, right?"... I nod softly and seem somewhat troubled. Principal Flutie continues "And you're making it alright alone?" I nod "Yeah I'm doing just fine, got a place for myself." Total mess, but he doesn't need to know that. He eventually he sends me off to class and I silently sigh in relief.
Before I know it I'm walking home from school when I hear a group pass by me saying something about "The Bronze". I guess I should try that place out, could be nice to let loose a bit. I eventually decide to walk around town and look around until I find the Bronze's entrance.
I walk in, glancing around, and getting myself a soda. The first person to catch my eye is the man from earlier. I quickly rush over "Hey, remember me from earlier, did you find an Walkman." His eyes quickly widen as he hands it over "Oh, yeah, found it on the ground nearby. I'm sorry about that, Xander, I mean... I'm Xander..." I smile and nod "It's ok but please be more careful?" I thank him and head off to the dancefloor as one of my favorite songs comes on, "Stupid Thing" by Nickel. I dance alone for a while, even singing along, not minding the stares.
When I finish dancing, and head home, it's pitch black. I decide to take a shortcut through an alleyway, then I hear something moving behind me so I hurry up. When I rush to go around a corner I feel something yank me back, and pin me to the wall. The next thing I see a man with a weirdly wrinkled face, similar to what I saw in the dream, with fangs and yellow eyes. What the heck is he? What does he want? As my head floods with thoughts, I reflexively kick his crotch and run as fast as I can. Meanwhile he crumples to the ground in pain hold his crotch. All I can hear as I run is my heavy breathing and repetitive cursing. I run into my motel room and slam the door behind me locking everything down from doors to windows. Oh thank god... Please don't follow me...
I stay up all night shaken and still feeling the adrenaline rush. I decide to read my family's old books like I usually do when I'm stressed. For some reason I'm drawn to a book on family legends and stories.

Secrets Pt.1
-In The Journal-
(Warnings: Gore, fear, and language)
(This part of the journal is in fancy cursive handwriting with only a few sketches.)
The Supernatural and Mythology
Vampires-
Creatures of habit, forced to depend on human blood for sustaining their soulless bodies. They seem to have memories of their human lives and bits of their personalities remain but altered. Often the vampires return to their homes or families. It's almost like they lose their inhibitions. They can control themselves in rare cases and oddly enough the can seem to find a twisted form of love. Perhaps they are more complex than people originally thought.
When vampires see an opportunity to manipulate you they can and will. Despite some showing restraint or almost human-like emotions still, they can be tricksters by nature. If you hear someone yelling for help you may be tempted to help, they'll use that against you. If you see someone attractive you may feel tempted to get to know them, they may also use that to trick you. Some may even turn a loved one or kill a loved one to draw you in by using them as bait.
Some hunt for food, some hunt for fun, and others seek the end of the world. They all exhibit unique goals although some groups share similar ideas. Either way none of them are fully good or safe, don't trust them. Never go alone with one, they will take any opportunities they see.
Some descriptions say they have a demon in them but that doesn't seem fully true... Instead of simple possession their minds seem as though are twisted. Although the common idea in descriptions are that they lost their soul or a piece of their humanity. They can range from almost human to fully demonic in nature. To defend yourself always carry a wooden stake and never invite them to your home. In order to turn you they must feed you their blood and you must die with their blood in your system. To kill them, stake them in the heart, force them into sunlight, or behead them.
(There are many depictions of men and women with similar faces to the man last night. There are also plenty of depictions of a particular menacing one.)
The Master-
He is the first vampire, one of the most demonic in nature. He sends out vampires in search of the Slayer and he's sealed in the Hellmouth. He must not rise, for if he rises, he will bring forth the apocalypse. The Hellmouth is dangerous and draws in energy, especially negative energy. Overall not much is known on what would trigger the power he needs to rise.
The Slayer and Watchers-
The Slayer is a woman chosen by a mystical force to wield extraordinary strength and fight evil. She will always be replaced by another after death and her blood seems to draw in vampires as well as other creatures. Many vampires try to get ahold of her blood, either to boast or perhaps flavor and power. Being around her is dangerous and associating with her can be even more dangerous. However she is meant to be a protector and can be a great ally. Be cautious if you see her with watcher, he is meant to guide her but the Watcher's Committee is selfish.
Watchers can often be swayed or turned. Other staff in the committee are at just as risky, they cannot be trusted. If you associate with one then watch them, be cautious. The Watcher's Committee has been known to take advantage of Slayers' powers in the past.
-Outside the Journal Before & During Ep. 2-
I decide to pause and process what I just read, thinking of what happened earlier. Was that a vampire? Surely it couldn't be... It has to be fake, it's just got to be. All these entries are just stories-... I remain in denial for a bit before finding a rational answer fails and I decide it could be true.
I look around for a piece of wood and whittle it into a little stake over a trashcan. If I get attacked this should help, I can't take risks just because I don't believe this fully. Better to be prepared than dead, hopefully nothing likes the day around here besides other humans. I'm already freaked out enough about whatever the **** happened last night. People can be pretty bad too though so, I guess even if I don't get jumped by some creature, I should be prepared.
I curse to myself and check the time to see it's 6:30am. Well at least it's not late I guess, not getting any sleep isn't great either though. I get dressed in black torn jeans, a black tanktop and some combat boots then gather my backpack. Suddenly I hear a small thud and the journal sits on the ground as if telling me to take it. With a small sigh I scoop it up and walk to school, playing a mixtape, with the stake concealed in a small black purse.
I see a coffee shop not far from my house with a hiring sign so I approach curiously. I walk in gently and head to the counter curiously. "Hello there, are you still hiring" the woman at the counter looks up and says "Yeah, always need new hires, it's 9 bucks an hour." I look at her mildly concerned "Any particular reason?" She awkwardly replies "Just a high mortality rate in this town". Well great, I wish I knew that before coming here, next thing you know I'll be another name on the list. "Well I'd be interested in the position, do you have applications" she waves me off and hands me a uniform.
"Just check in with the boss and we'll get you scheduled" I watch her motion to a small office and walk in. "I'm interested in-" the man interrupts "You want to work here, weekends and evenings work for you?" I nod and smile awkwardly "Yes that would be great." He smiles and does some paperwork "You can start tomorrow, just make sure to clock in and out miss-?" "Belladonna Nightingale sir" he looks at me like he's trying to read me "Well then, see you tomorrow Ms. Nightingale." I nod and head back out grateful that they were hiring but also worried for my safety in this town. I look to the lady on shift "Could I also get a mocha latte with a dozen donuts?" She nods then quickly gets my drink and donuts. I pay up with a small tip too before I head out.
As I leave I start thinking back about how they acted. They acted so odd, since when do jobs not have applications or interviews. I mean, it's a small town but even back home... That mortality rate must be skyhigh if they're to that point, poor folks.
As I walk towards school I accidentally bump into a young guy with a guitar case slung over his shoulder. As I rush to help him up I notice his blue eyes, his light ginger hair, and his softer face. I snap out of it and quickly take his hand to help him up "Sorry sir, are you okay?" He looks at me a gentle gaze "Yeah, just didn't expect a collision with someone like you ." I lift him up and pick up his guitar case "What about me" he smiles "Just pretty and I can tell you're a nice gal." I nod "I always try to be nice, but I'm certainly nothing to gawk at." I look at his guitar case worried "Is it ok, I hope I didn't break it-" "No, no, I'm sure it's fine, I'm Oz by the way." I hesitate "I'm Belladonna" he seems to recognize the name slightly "Ah, the new kid, right?" "Yeah, you go to school here right" he nods "Pretty weird here isn't?" I nod "For sure, I should probably get ready for more chaos" he laughs softly "For sure, have a good day." I head off and glance back at his smile, my heart practically fluttering as I head to school. He seemed pretty nice and funny, he's definitely the normalest acting person I've met so far.
When I reach the school, I rush towards the library. I walk in then set my coffee and donuts down on a table when I see a redhead and the older librarian. I wave "Hi there, I was wondering if you had biology textbooks mister-..." The librarian looks up "Oh um, Giles, Rupert Giles... The biology textbooks should be on the east wall..." I nod "Thanks and feel free to have some donuts guys." As I head towards the east wall I notice plenty of books about demons and creature, making me pause. I shake my head and refocus on looking for the Biology textbooks, I finally find one after a bit. I head to the main part when I overhear Giles saying "Buffy needs to be careful, the vampires here can be organized."
I hide and listen in as the redhead replies "I know Xander will probably go with her, I hope he stays safe." Giles nods when I peek out "I'm sure he'll be safe Willow, at least they'll have eachother." Willow sighs "I can't help but worry Giles, even if she's the slayer, it's dangerous." I walk out "Hey guys, I found it, by the way, how often are the demonology books used?" Giles stutters "W-well I-... Not for a while, they're mostly for um..." I smile "You can be honest you know, I overheard you guys a bit." Willow's eyes widen "Well um, how much do you know on all of this?" I shrug "Not much honestly, just about vampires and apparently Buffy being the slayer now?... What all does that entail anyways? Is she like a vampire slayer or a slayer of all things that go bump?" Giles clears his throat awkwardly "Well um, it'd be a bit of both-..." I nod "Just warn me if I'm getting dragged into a mess."
During the day I share with a few other teachers and students. I hear people calling Buffy a freak in they halls. I even a story about Buffy almost staking Cordelia in the bathroom. I sigh and approach "Cordelia do you always have to be such a bitch?" She gasps and gets ready to speak up but I cut her off with an accent "Don't ****in' say it..." She huffs and I smile "You're not the big bad wolf so that's not doing anything Drama Queen." I walk off as she processes what just happened.
The rest of my day is pretty normal, plus I even have donuts left. I decide to go to the Bronze after dropping my stuff off. After a while a bunch of vampires barge in. Oh no, this is not what I signed up for. For some reason, despite the danger, I move forward and punch one. They laugh and pin me to a column "Looks like this one's got a bit of fight don't they?" I panic and quickly kick their crotch then stake them missing the heart narrowly "Oh shit-..." They grin until I punch them again and continue to fight them off.
Buffy walks in with Xander, Willow, and Giles after a bit. While we're fighting I hear the leader talking but hardly process what he's saying. I'm fighting off a small group of vampires when I see the leader holding Buffy. I turn my attention away and run to help her as the vampires I was fighting flee. I see her break a window and then I trip before I can see her dust him. "Son of a-"
I look up as I scramble to my feet both shocked and thankful to see that he's dusted. I approach Buffy to help her "Are you okay? What was this all about?" Buffy looks at me shocked at my gentle care "I'll explain later but... Where did you learn to fight like that?" I laugh awkwardly "I didn't, I was worried that I was going to slip up and die-..." She nods with a smile and doesn't press.
After the incident she takes me to the Library and we wait for the others to catch up. I look behind us for Giles "I need a rundown on this mess. And what happened to warning me? I mean, is this the Master or something?" Giles's eyes widen as he catches up "What all do you know about the Master? He's the one behind tonight, anything you could tell us would be of great help-..." I sigh "The most I got is that he's the first vampire, he's sealed in the Hellmouth, and he mustn't rise." Giles nods and looks at me seriously "that's still more than most, do you remember where you found that?" I nod and hesitate "It's my family journal but um.... You're a Watcher right?" He nods and seems a bit puzzled "Yes um, how do you know all of this? Is it all from your... Er... Journal?" I look at him with a serious expression "Yes, um, it's pretty complicated..." He seems to understand a bit "Why um, most certainly, is it possible that I could see this journal?" I shake my head and remember I left it at home. The perfect excuse. "I'm afraid not, I left it at home" I sigh softly. Giles nods softly and offers an alternative "Then perhaps tomorrow." I seem surprised at the understanding he's offer and hesitate "I suppose but, um, only for a bit."
To be continued...

She huffs and I smile "You're not the big bad wolf so that's not doing anything Drama Queen." I walk off as she processes what just happened.
