Do you watch Serenity as a stand alone film or do you only watch it as part of a Firefly watch?

Standalone I guess . I definitely don't feel the same towards the movie as the show.

If I remember correctly the Firefly DVD boxset was the first thing I ever bought on the internet 😀 . Been hankering for the anniversary blu ray recently ..but not so bothered about a Serenity blu ray .

As part of Firefly. It's good enough as a stand alone but I class is as part of a Firefly re-watch. Can't do one without the other! Loved it.

See, I didn’t know it ex sister until after I watched Firefly. I was like “ah, so this is it”. And then I realized it was in fact, not it.

Seems perhaps an odd ending to me, but it’s a great movie.

if you haven’t see the gag reel already, go check it out. There is one where Mal is giving instructions to the team on that sandy planet that cracks me up every time.

Watched it on Netflix UK as a standalone last night ...think it's all over the place at the moment . My main criticism of Serenity is that it isn't Firefly .

Plotting to do Firefly at Christmas , as part of a thrifty Christmas entertainment package . 😉

It works fine as a stand alone, but it is absolutely meant to be seen as a continuation of the show. Sort of a “if we didn’t get cancelled then this is what you would have gotten” type deal.

I enjoy them both together more than I do separately 🙂

I'll only watch Serenity if I can see the deleted scenes with it. I really have to wonder why many of those scenes were cut as it made more sense of the story.

I rarely watch it after the series.

Which actually bothers me a bit, as it appears a lot of the relationships have regressed to what they were in the beginning of the show. Mal and Simon don't seem to trust each other, and no one seems to have a clue what is going on with River.

I'm not saying it couldn't have happened in the intervening time, but it feels awkward to me not knowing how it happened (as opposed to writers being sloppy).

Serenity seems to have sparked a fire in me . Tonight I spent a very thrifty £5.98 on the blu ray boxset of Firefly . I have heard the blu ray is a bit lackluster ...and the anniversary cut is just the same , so my expectations are pretty low . Will be nice to look at on my mahoosive 4K screen though 🙂

By the way, while the movie has gotten some to find and enjoy the series, it also got others to refuse to give the series a chance, or if they did, to not like it as they did the movie.

I dont know if I have ever watched it directly after the series. Might be fun to do.

Serenity seems to be on all the streaming channels for an easy choice to stand alone watch but I havent seen Firefly on any yet.

I just purchased it from Vudu. Admittedly, I've never actually watched it. I remember when it was released in theaters, but I never went to see it because I heard bad reviews about it.
