THE CALIFORNIA QUEEN Part 1
Willow, Buffy and Dawn had decided to go to the theatre, they wanted to see what the film ‘The California Queen’ was about. They sat in some seats close to the back and watched expectantly to the black screen. As the theatre lights began to fade the sounds of a train were heard. Looking to the screen Buffy saw flickers of white light flashing from the middle of the screen to the edges.
Then flashes of all the colours sped from the middle of the screen towards the sides, the middle of the screen becoming increasingly white as the front of a train appeared at the middle of the screen. The train sped from out of the middle of the screen and hurtled down a gentle hillside. The engine and four carriages went passed where it was being filmed from the camera is. The camera quickly span about to see a bridge over the railway tracks.
They saw the train as it sped closer to the bridge, suddenly the camera was above the bridge and the view was of the top of the train as it passed under the bridge. The top of the train locomotive becoming transparent. On it a woman is seen to be swimming in a river as the train moves away from the camera. The next scene saw them looking to the back of the train and at the countryside around it.
High in the sky in front of a carriage five people riding on five winged unicorns. Looking to the unicorns as they hover close to the front carriage, the riders suddenly jump down onto the first carriage, once there a winged dragon flew down and the rider appeared inside the front of the first carriage. Four Riders of the Winged Unicorns stood in the front of the first carriage.
Looking at she who rode the dragon, the rider of the dragon called to the Riders, “Look to each seat carefully, you are expected to find two special children.” The Riders slowly walked along the carriage as they looked at each of the seats. In the second carriage one of the Riders saw who she thought the two children might be. She beckoned to the rider of the dragon, “Are these the two who we are searching for?”
The dragon rider walked to where the two were and smiled to the Rider, “That is them, their names are Adrian and Caroline.” The rider of the dragon began to glow as she caused the two children to disappear and saying to the Riders, “For now our work here is down, run to the back of the train, to your unicorns,” said the Goddess Cla-ere. The Riders ran to the back of the train.
At the back of the train the Riders jumped on to their Unicorns and flew up into the sky. The Goddess waited until they were all on their unicorns and were flying up towards the bright moon. Following them were two more dragons that were being ridden by the Goddesses Clarisse and Darla, they flew over fields and dales under the bright glow of the moon.
They flew far over the countryside until eventually they landed near the boundary of a town, the children looked up at the new moon. Adrian and Caroline did as the Goddess Cla-ere whispered to their minds and walked into a café, they sat at a table inside the front window. The children Adrian and Caroline stared at the street lamp outside the café then strode outside to bask in its light.
As they looked up at the moon at the street light they begin to grow to be adults – they offer their thanks to the moon, the Goddesses smile to them as Adrian and Caroline hug each other, then walk back into the café. Sat at the window seat, looking at the moon. They smile and hold the others hand and look to the moon, they have a drink each.
Caroline heard Goddess Cla-ere's voice in her head so she did as the Goddess would have her do, she wandered out of the café as Adrian followed behind her.
They follow to where some figures that now appear to be small gargoyles seem to be worshiping a statue. Buffy, Willow and Dawn stare in disbelief at the screen as they see cloaked winged gargoyles dance around the statue of a giant gargoyle. One of the smaller gargoyles is put on an altar at the giant gargoyles feet. She is the Sacrifice. All the worshipers raised their arms to the giant statue as one of the worshipers prepares the sacrifice.
Many small worshipers rise up to fly in a circle, above the statue. The many smaller gargoyles dance around the statue as if in worship. One of the small gargoyles flies up out of sight. Adrian and Caroline are sat at a park bench looking at other couples who are walking in the park. They look to the horizon as the sun begins to set and smile at the brightly coloured flowers in the flower beds.
Darla and Cla-ere smile at them. Acknowledging their smiles, Caroline and Adrian meekly return their smiles and start to walk towards them. Adrian and Caroline walk towards them. They smile at each other then go to the gardeners of the parks house. In the early hours of the following morning Caroline wakes in one of the beds, she stretches and smiles at the thought of seeing Adrian.
Caroline gets out of bed, and puts on her dressing gown, she goes into the kitchen to make her breakfast. She crosses the kitchen floor only to see Adrian’s face looking at her from a window then sees he is being reflected from behind her. As Adrian and Caroline look up into the sky they see a lone gargoyle flying along through the clouds, Darla looks to see if there is another one.
Cla-ere points to three more of them then points to some more of the gargoyles as they flew closer to the earth. Darla notices a regiment of Riders on top of a nearby hill she goes there with Adrian and Caroline. On the hill top they join and prepare for the enemy, Adrian points up as many more gargoyles fly down through the clouds to be near them and looking to see where the gargoyles are landing.
Caroline notices three of them walking toward a stone circle. The rest of the small winged gargoyles fly down to there, though mainly are unseen they become as statues around the one they worship. Suddenly the gargoyles are seen all around where Adrian and Caroline have taken to hide in a shed but they have been seen and the gargoyles run to and surround them in the shed.
The gargoyles gleefully hop then jump and glide towards shed. Having trapped the Riders the gargoyles begin to attack the shed and jumped for joy. As the Giant gargoyle appears to wake it jumps onto the shed crushing several of the Riders as the other gargoyles jump for joy and look to the giant gargoyle. All the gargoyles fly up into the air and as one they fly across the land.
